What do you mean without help? Do you mean as a single parent, following a donor sperm conception, or birthing on your own in your back bedroom using you tube ?

girlmom21 · 02/01/2022 15:47

I can't help but it might help others to know if this would be a first pregnancy or not

I assume she means without IVF or similar

I’m pregnant and 40. Friend had her first and only at 42. I think you will find some over that on MN so hopefully you’ll get some more replies. Are you currently TTC? X

ZoeTheThornyDevil · 02/01/2022 15:51

My mum did, but she already had 5 others.

It happens, but it's extremely rare for it to happen for someone who doesn't already have DC.

@wonderwig

The chances of natural conception decrease with age, but every person is different. If you're considering whether or not it would be an option for you, then a good starting point could be to have a fertility check-up with a fertility clinic. They can check various parameters which influence the likelihood of successful conception, such as blood hormone levels, ovarian reserve, semen analysis. Then you'll have more relevant information about whether or not it's a realistic chance for you.

You might also want to explore how you (and any partner you have) feel about assisted conception options (eg IUI, IVF, medication) and/or donor conception options (donor eggs, donor sperm, donor embryos), so that you're prepared if they come up in consultations.

i had number four just before my 45th birthday. No help but I did opt for additional tests given my age

theDudesmummy · 02/01/2022 15:59

I had a naturally conceived baby (after 3 miscarriages) just two months off being 46.

theDudesmummy · 02/01/2022 15:59

He was my only baby, so yes, it can happen.

Hadalifeonce · 02/01/2022 16:02

Hi OP, I had my first at 42, second at 45. Natural conception.

BobstarSunny · 02/01/2022 16:04

I'm 41 and currently 38 weeks pregnant with my first. I had worries that I'd not be able to conceive naturally, but after around 5 months of trying we fell pregnant. I found it best not to put too much pressure on ourselves. It's easy to become absorbed in the science of it all. Exercise, healthy eating and a good mental health approach to it all will go a long way to help. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

I had my second child at 43. First baby at 41 after 5 years ttc.

CoffeeRunner · 02/01/2022 16:10

A friend will be 47 when her baby is born, she already has 8 others though.

It does happen, it is just less likely.

Yes, two of my friends had babies at 45 and 47, both unplanned and conceived the old-fashioned way!

Others have had children at 42, 43 and 44, again without intervention. So it could happen, although it’s statistically less likely.

SirChenjins · 02/01/2022 16:14

My husband’s client has just had a baby in her early 50s with no help. My granny had my uncle when she was 46.

Moretodo · 02/01/2022 16:15

My friend had her one and only at 45 after clinicians had told her it was not possible, following a late miscarriage.

RandomMess · 02/01/2022 16:18

Member of family, an affair, triplets.

😳

qpmz · 02/01/2022 16:35

I had my first at 44. She was naturally conceived after many failed rounds of IVF. Feel very grateful.

Elllicam · 02/01/2022 16:38

My aunt had her 6th naturally at 45

lifestoooshort · 02/01/2022 16:39
