I don’t think ‘hope’ is going to be very helpful at 45. I’m not being mean - my grandmother had the last of 12 children at 44, and two of my aunts had late last babies at 44 and 47 - but if you are serious about having a baby in your mid forties, you need to get proper advice and get your self checked out by a specialist doctor.

Had my second at 43 with no issues at all. Can't see that another 2 years would have made much difference.

I'm 44 and currently 27 + 5 weeks pregnant. Always thought that I couldn't have children, didn't have any periods until I was 36 and even then it was just 3 or so bleeds per year! I had two failed Chlomid treatments around 39-40 but couldn't carry on due to severe side effects. Somehow I fell naturally pregnant a year or two after I stopped the treatment, however. I can't help but think it was the hormone treatment that did it, even if the fertility clinic does not consider it anything to with them. In any case I consider it a miracle!

If you're serious to need to get some actual medical advice asap.
Hope won't cut it .

My hairdresser had her first at 46. She thought it was the menopause.

stairgates · 02/01/2022 17:45

Last one here at 44 :)

Tempusfudgeit · 02/01/2022 17:49

Had mine naturally at 39, 40, 43 and currently pregnant with our last at 45. It can happen, but everyone is different. Good luck with whatever you do xx

Early 50’s - wow! There is some hope for me!

MiracleBaby2022 · 02/01/2022 17:50

@Northernsoullover 😂 I was similar, I thought I had a cyst!

minniep · 02/01/2022 17:50

I had a surprise pregnancy at 43 and lots of people my mums generation and the generations previous had babies well into their forties. Nothing strange or unusual about it but every woman is different. Best of luck OP.

My friend had her second at 45.

I got of naturally at 44 however following tests found a chromosome disorder that meant she wasn't viable .

It broke my heart . In fact today would have been her due date 6 years ago.

It can happen but remember there are more risks at an advanced age.

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/01/2022 18:34

I know someone who did at 47 (!), by mistake, but she already had an 8 year old, also know someone who did at 44, but she had her first at 40.

It’s unlikely though TBH so I would think about other options. I have another friend who adopted a baby at the back end of her 40s, if you’d consider that.

JesusWeptLady · 02/01/2022 18:40

My mum had a baby at 43 without any help / interventions or IVF type stuff. Huge, healthy baby too - she went to Cambridge and is now in her early-mid 30s.

Good luck OP. It's possible.

Cameleongirl · 02/01/2022 23:03

@qpmz

I had my first at 44. She was naturally conceived after many failed rounds of IVF. Feel very grateful.
@qpmz That's so wonderful! My friend who had a baby at 45 had also had fertility treatment in the past and assumed she couldn't possibly conceive naturally...then bingo!
Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 02/01/2022 23:55

Me! Though it was my 5th. My friend had her first, unassisted and a surprise at 48.

wonderwig · 03/01/2022 10:10

Thanks for the replies. I know it's not likely but not quite ready to give up yet. I already am blessed to have one dc but would love another but had quite a few losses. I won't do IVF and will just leave it to fate.. what will be will be...

Sending you the very best of good wishes for a successful outcome 🤞🤞🤞

My lovely daughter was born when my wife was only a few weeks shy of 45. Natural conception and our first child.

Good luck to you!
