Covid jab in pregnancy

Hi all,

I'm currently waiting for my booster. Got my second vaccine (Moderna) back in August and fell pregnant in October.

Anyone have any experience with the vaccine? Anyone nervous about having it? I've been told by my midwife to have it but doesn't seem to be a lot out there...?

Had my second vaccine at 6 weeks pregnant. Currently 25w2d and trying to book my booster. RCOG guidance is for all pregnant women to have their vaccines and their boosters.

Ubercornsdiscoball · 13/12/2021 12:31

I had my booster back in October at approx 16 weeks pregnant. No issues with it at all

Bells3032 · 13/12/2021 12:32

Had my booster in October at 26 weeks. now 33 weeks and all good

DiamondSnow · 13/12/2021 12:36

I had the booster a couple of weeks ago at 22 weeks.
I found the side effects much less than the previous 2 jabs.

winterbabyrose · 13/12/2021 12:40

Had my first vaccine at 21 weeks and my second at 30 weeks (both pfizer). Now 33 weeks and all going well.

LadyExpecting93 · 13/12/2021 13:39

Thanks everyone, really reassuring

GinnyBee · 13/12/2021 13:51

I've just been to a walk-in centre to get the booster. I'm 18 weeks tomorrow. I'm far more nervous about getting covid than the jab, as it seems to really do a number in some cases if you're pregnant with covid!

SouthwestSis · 13/12/2021 13:58

Had my booster at 31 weeks, much more risky to catch covid than to have the jab, for both you and baby.
Get yours booked!

Yorkshireswithallroasts · 13/12/2021 14:44

Had my first vaccine the day before I found out I was pregnant. The Second was at 13/14 weeks and I'm just waiting to be called for my booster now. As someone said above. I'm much more concerned about catching covid than having the vaccine.

sheusesmagazines · 13/12/2021 14:48

I've had 3 vaccines in pregnancy now, I'm 38 weeks and all is fine!!!

Outlyingtrout · 13/12/2021 14:53

I am heavily pregnant and double jabbed during pregnancy. No issues whatsoever and very glad to be protected. Desperately trying to book my booster but not having much joy with the system overloaded.

firstimemamma · 13/12/2021 15:07

I wouldn't have Moderna in pregnancy but each to their own. I was advised to have Pfizer while pregnant so that's what I had.

ImStayingInside · 13/12/2021 18:14

Absolutely infuriating, I’ve just been turned away from my booster appointment because the pharmacist said she didn’t jab pregnant women.
I hope you’re ok after your booster!
Now I need to try to find somewhere to do my booster asap as baby is coming in 17 days.

Holskey · 13/12/2021 18:21

Why @firstimemamma? I haven't heard that before.

I had 2 jabs a while back, both Astra Zeneca. I've booked my booster for January when I'll be in the 2nd trimester. I'm sure it's fine but I didn't want to risk side effects (high temp) in early pregnancy given I haven't had Pfizer or Moderna before. Both my partner and I wfh, and as we're double jabbed, I'm not hugely afraid of getting covid right now, and I'd cope better with contracting it than I would with making myself ill with side effects.

That is so annoying! I would report her. She might have the right to refuse to vaccinate people, but I’d still report her for going against medical advice, personally.

Hoping I don’t get turned away too now.

ImStayingInside · 13/12/2021 19:07

@Derbee I’m sure you’ll be fine!
I’m going to try again tomorrow at a walk in clinic …

I had my first two jabs while in my 1st trimester. Now desperate for my booster. Managed to get an appointment but not until 2 weeks time.

ifellintoarabbithole · 13/12/2021 19:24

I had my booster in October when I was 20 weeks. No ill effects, and all well with my pregnancy so far. My only caveat was that I didn't want it at the same time as the flu jab, so had them separately (in my area boosters are being given at same time as flu jab).

Hope everyone waiting manages to get one soon.

firstimemamma · 13/12/2021 19:30

@Holskey I spoke with the doctor at the vaccination centre (because I was generally anxious about having the jab in pregnancy full stop and had loads of questions!) and he recommended the Pfizer one. Something to do with lots of pregnant women having it in America and all being well with the babies so that was the one he felt happiest giving me in pregnancy. However I'd never judge anyone for having Moderna or anything else as it's your choice / judgement and let's face it it's such a new vaccine who is to say I'm more right than you anyway.

Trixabelle84 · 13/12/2021 19:56

Had my first and second jabs while pregnant, 1st at 14 weeks and 2nd at 22 weeks. Just booked my booster in for next week when I will be 37+4... Was the earliest I could get, would have had it sooner if I could have as cutting it a bit fine....

sarah20212021 · 13/12/2021 20:07

Had 2 Pfizers in pregnancy and currently cuddling perfect DD.

GinnyBee · 13/12/2021 20:13

I've just been to a walk-in centre today for my booster! Long queue but moved quite swiftly, we queued for maybe 45 minutes so not too bad in the end. I didn't want to even attempt online booking as I knew it would be chaos and no guarantee to get an appointment soon, and I didn't want to wait any longer! So happy I've now had it!

CorpusCallosum · 13/12/2021 20:16

Had Pfizer booster while pregnant a good few months ago now. All fine 👍💉

shannonl26 · 13/12/2021 20:39

I’m going to get my first jab tomorrow at 22+3 & honestly so scared. Seeing positive stories does make me feel at ease but don’t think I’ll ever shake the ‘what if’ feeling. Wish I could just hibernate until baby girl is here but our government don’t have a clue what they’re doing & it’s all going to get crazy again.
