@Minster2012 I wanted to say I hate patè too, but after my mince pie outburst, I didn't dare. 🤣 🤮
And I'm having steak Saturday! 🥳 I've decided.

Love mince pies, not so much pâté...

You're fine with smoked salmon @clolo !

Minster2012 · 15/12/2021 20:03

Def allowed smoked salmon @clolo I love it, have some in the fridge atm which I love on warm crusty bread yes, but not the pate urgh

@feliznavidad2 yes it's weird isn't it, mind you that also reminds me of some weird things on the pregnancy boards like @Juno231 said I've read threads where ladies have said "I had a shop bought chicken sandwich & im so worried. It even had Mayo in it!" 😆

Steak n blow job saturday @paintfairy???

Minster2012 · 15/12/2021 20:05

Also we have homemade Gravelax with pickles & cucumber made by my SIL for Xmas starter it's a tradition now & it's the BEST thing & we have been known to end the night drinking sloe gin & each with a knife peeling all the leftovers from the skin of the salmon like wildlings 😃

Juno231 · 15/12/2021 20:09

@feliznavidad2 yeah and listeria outbreaks are most common in salads and bean sprouts but no one says we shouldn't eat salads 😅. I just avoid liver for the vit A 🤷.

Only hot smoked salmon is okay mind you!

Loooove paté @Minster2012

Kate105 · 15/12/2021 20:11

I am very disappointed in you all as a massive lover of both pâté and mince pies. Get a grip ladies.

The sleep demon was great again last night, only two wake ups and didn't wake up until 6:30 this morning. I actually woke up before him?! Surely this won't last... I can't get excited about this... Can I?!

I brought TSD into school today to meet my sixth formers who thought he was adorable until he started screeching and at least two of them visibly flinched 😂 highly effective lesson on contraception right there I think!

bez91 · 15/12/2021 20:20

@Juno231 the JISA 😆 we've got savings account for DD but considering a JISA for our money for a better interest rate 😆 it's not looking too bad my maternity benefits are so much better than last time. I was about £10k down in my last job (I then got made redundant so kinda got it back but still) I get 6 months full pay where I am now so can be a bit more flexible as to when I decide to go back.

Oh @larrythelizard deflating. It's when you scan your ticket on the app and it does a little tune when you've won and then it's like a free lucky dip 🤦🏼‍♀️ lovely that your DH will take time too 🥰 my DH is a bit of a workaholic so I'm trying to push for 3 weeks 🙄

@Minster2012 @Juno231 sorry I'm a flaming hot monster much kinda girl 😉

@Vil10 ahhh that's lovely of your parents, mine did something similar (as well as using the better rates for us kids to float their savings 😆) I think it's needed to give any young person a chance on the property ladder these days!

@Juno231 @clolo woahh revalation, I didn't know any pate was pregnancy friendly but now I feel stupid because of course it's because of the vitamin A content! Thanks ladies!

I'm half expecting @paintfairy to pop along now after the mince pie, pate and people hating outburst to rant about blowjobs @Minster2012 😂

Result came back on my urine. Show no UTI infection which is odd because of all my symptoms mirror exactly that, they have improved slightly since yesterday but my wee smells so metaliccy I was conceived UTI, GP said to go back to midwife 🤷‍♀️

Vil10 · 15/12/2021 20:23

@paintfairy literally🤣 I loveee steak, usually medium rare, I'm not fancying it at the minute though, I feel like I'm off meat as a whole!

@Juno231 that's all interesting to know!! Definitely something I'd look at!

@Minster2012 it really is! I finish work on Friday for Christmas too so it'll fly by! They are very good ideas aren't they!! Definitely something I'd want to do!! I love pate you strange lady

@bez91 oh 100%, the market is just crazy especially at the minute, every house we've offered on we've gone way over asking price and still haven't got it!! A good chunk of my deposit is money that my parents put away for me from being a baby, so it's absolutely come in handy! Hmm strange your results coming back normal, could it just be off with pregnancy?

Is paracetamol okay to take?? I feel so sick but have an awful headache, hoping to shift the headache with a few para's!!

paintfairy · 15/12/2021 20:35

@Vil10 paracetamol is safe. I went off meat for a bit but I'm OK now. Depends what it is. My tastes change every day though really.
@bez91 🧐 you know me better than you think! 🤣 Steak yes. Blowjobs certainly not @Minster2012 🤮 He knows better than to expect that!

Minster2012 · 15/12/2021 21:50

@Kate105 🤞🏻🤞🏻it lasts, and loving the contraceptive device there!!

@Juno231 WHAT??? Only hot smoked salmon. Noooooo, touching hot scrambled egg makes it warm surely? How about if I freeze it first? She says with a charcuterie thing in the freezer for Xmas!

There's the rant on blowjobs from @paintfairy she didn't let us down @bez91 😂 so what's the midwife meant to do then??

Flamin hot monster munch @bez91 no I can't get on board with that. How about the pickled onion?? @Juno231** I love those ones but you can't go anywhere afterwards

If anyone who is early pregnancy wants a cool & fun way to tell someone you are pregnant then look no further than enigmagram. @Juno231 I feel this might be one for you (maybe not alcoholic mother though?) but DH's parents? Doesn't have to be for Xmas!

I just read more about the case of Star ⭐️ & it's made me so upset

Minster2012 · 15/12/2021 21:52

I'm sticking to this advice on smoked salmon
I'm not forgoing my gravelax
😂

https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/articles/whatyouushouldanddshouldnteattinpregnancy

Juno231 · 15/12/2021 22:18

@Minster2012 ooh I'll look up the enigmagram, sounds like something FIL (Cambridge boy) would enjoy!

Love the pickled onion ones! It really is a miracle I'm not a British citizen, I've assimilated so well eating all this stuff 😆

@Kate105 looove that we have TSD as a proper acronym now!

I seem to have missed a blowjob rant somehow!

@bez91 wth if it's not a UTI then what is it? Thrush? Sometimes that makes my wee hole burn as if it's a UTI actually.

Pre bfp OH was thinking of taking paternity leave (can't remember if it was 4 weeks at his company?) And then 3 months parental leave later on. But it's not been mentioned since the bfp so will be interesting to see what he'd actually consider taking.

Crazydoglady123 · 15/12/2021 22:49

Catching up!

@bez91 hope your OH is okay bless him!

Also recommend the zip up crop tops from Sainsburys as @Sunbird24 recommended

@2020mission can't believe you're 38 weeks tomorrow!

Awwww @paintfairy I hadn't seen the scan pic till now! And I eat Stilton, just hard Stilton not blue Stilton

@Haiyaa love that your baby was punching the ultrasound wand 😂

@Juno231 my RHR never rose in this pregnancy. Stayed at around 50bpm this whole time.

@Minster2012 erm what is Gravelax....?

On the covid talk I've also being careful with it since third tri as I'm not vaccinated. DS chicken pox has gone now but keeping him off school this week still as it's rife with covid in his school atm.

One week till my presentation scan. Baby girl still cooking. Having an awful time with one of my dogs though...she has IVDD (basically a slipped disc-common in sausage dogs). She isn't insured and the op is £8K. She's been accepted onto a research trial up at Cambridge Vet College for medicated rehab rather than surgery and the results so far have been amazing but at the moment she's near on paralysed in her back legs and it's intensive work looking after her. She's really happy in herself all things considering but I'm finding it really overwhelming having to basically be a carer for her at 35 weeks pregnant and the next 4 weeks are going to be the hardest rehab wise 😢

2020mission · 15/12/2021 23:16

@Crazydoglady123 it has flown by and getting close for you now too at 35! That's a shame about your dog not an ideal time at all but I'm sure you can get through it. It will keep you distracted at least? Free time in the later weeks of pregnancy can feel like a drag.

Just to update, I had my obstetrics consultant appointment yesterday afternoon. I waited for an hour and a half in the waiting room only to end up not with the senior consultant on my appointment letter again and it was someone else instead who stepped in as the place was so busy. I saw many other ladies get called in to have an appointment with him though so he was there! At one point during my appointment she said she'd go and ask what the consultant suggested 😔 after having a trainee sonographer who took ages and struggled to measure areas of baby the day before, I was just feeling so fed up.

Anyway they said the amniotic fluid has increased and baby is on the 90th percentile so a bit big. The fluid isn't severe but because I'm petite she suggested I get an induction at 39 weeks (23rd December). My husband and I are both a bit sad that it's looking like I won't be left to labour naturally and with inductions typically taking days to work im looking at a Christmas Day birth 😬 also im sure many of you (@Justanothercyster and @Kirky658 at least) had inductions and ended up with a C-section in the end. All I've heard about them is they are more painful and long and fail a lot of the time. I wish they'd just book me in for a section if it's necessary to get him out early! My husband thinks the best doctors won't be there around Christmas too which is making me more anxious. Not keen on being admitted to a shared ward for days while I wait for induction to work either with covid getting worse.

@Juno231 great to see that 3+ 🎉 time to step back from testing now?

Food wise pregnancy has been quite easy for me as I don't ever eat soft cheese, pâté, shellfish. Almost everything they say to avoid I already do 😅 in fact if anything it's made those foods even less appealing as it's highlighted how dodgy they are to eat. I agree the steak is a bit of a shame though as no one wants that well done!

bez91 · 16/12/2021 06:56

@Vil10 oooh Friday finish how exciting, are you working between Christmas and new year or is that it? It's mad isn't it! My brother is house hunting, the ones he's viewed have all had either damp or structural issues too and still no negation on price - madness. I've told him to wait until the market seems to get more properties in the New Year. Are you being pressured out of yours yet?

Apparently another midwife visit needed to investigate pains 🤷‍♀️ baby is wriggling around so maybe just a weird 48 hours, I feel a whole of a lot better now @Minster2012 oh yes pickled onion too 😋

I'm 99% sure it's not thrush @Juno231 maybe baby was just sat on my bladder for a couple of days but definitely felt very UTI-ish. That's lovely of your DH, it massively helps in the early days. DH has a new job and spring/summer is their busiest time, he can work flexi time now so it should help even if he doesn't have more than 2 weeks off.

@Crazydoglady123 he's still waiting on his appointment, was promised Tuesday it will be next week 🙄 unlikely I think. The receptionist told him they're not releasing appointments as a lot of staff are being redeployed for vaccination programme, sounds a good idea seeing as they see people with lumps which might be cancerous 🤦🏼‍♀️ oh your poor dog ☹️ that's so tough especially being 35 weeks, bending all the time is not fun. The rehab sounds promising, hopefully it's a short process. Any idea of timescale for the rehab?

Oh @2020mission that's so frustrating. I know ladies who have had induction and it's not been a long process on the other hand. I suppose the plan over the next week is to try and encourage baby to come naturally? Routing for you!

Juno231 · 16/12/2021 07:26

@2020mission oh I bet you're disappointed! You could still ask for an elective c section for all those reasons I imagine? And if not, I read lots and lots of birth stories on Reddit and soooo many are induced ones that still go really well - I think we just have a tendency to only hear about the less ideal versions. Also remember that lots of doctors are Muslim or Hindi and they'll still be working as normal over Christmas.

But oi! Have you ever heard of anyone getting I'll from from paté soft cheeses etc ?? That's why all these rules are crazy OTT 😁

@Crazydoglady123 feck about the sausage dog! Can DH help with it at all?

Got my ivf blood tests this afternoon, feels a bit sad doing them - like I don't think this bean will make it :/

Crazydoglady123 · 16/12/2021 07:58

@2020mission I had an induction with DS using the pessary (ok he was overdue) but it was a good experience for me.

@bez91 I hope he doesn't manage to get seen this side of Xmas so he can relax and enjoy it at least. Thanks re the dog. It's a long process over 12 weeks but reading up it's the next 4 weeks that will be the hardest.

@Juno231 I was so desperate for a Brie and cranberry panini I microwaved the Brie before grilling it 🙈 The OH has helped me last night with the dog and this morning but he's at work now so it's back to me.

She slept okay through the night and woke me up at 6.30am (I slept on the sofa next to her pen) and we took her out with her sling and she did a little poop. The painkillers sedate them and so she's really sleepy this morning. OH finishing work early tonight as we take her up to Cambridge later which is about 1.5 hours from us. Oh and of course baby is on a quiet one this morning so I'm on my side waiting to feel some kicks 🙄

Kate105 · 16/12/2021 08:06

@2020mission I had an induction with TSD which ended in a C section but only because he turned and was facing the wrong way so couldn’t find his way out! Otherwise it was a really positive experience and TBH the C section was pretty good. I was dreading it but it was surprisingly straightforward.

TSD gives with one hand and takes away with the other… Slept a solid 6 hours last night 🙌🏻 But then I was really engorged and he couldn’t handle it so he was up at 5 vomming and pooing all over the shop once he’d drunk too much 🤦🏼‍♀️

Minster2012 · 16/12/2021 08:26

@Kate105 it's always either sick or 💩 isn't it! They love to keep you on your toes

@Juno231 yes check it out! I've got one for Father's Day before for DH & DS's oddfather, this Xmas I'm getting a different one for oddfather as told he loved it & one for my dad & my brother 😂 interesting times on the parental leave chat! Oh and just read your today- none of that talk, this bean is snuggled nicely here to stay.

Oh @Crazydoglady123 your poor sausage that doesn't sound good. My friends JRT had that too & cost her over £6k. Gravelax is smoked salmon that kinda sat to cure in pickles & herbs, you can see it in supermarkets as smoked salmon with fancy edges. I'm loving the availability of Brie things grilled atm!

@2020mission 38 weeks wow hes nearly here!! Oh my goodness you eat like @paintfairy 😂mind you j think she's worse! Inductions can be good and still quick you just never know but surely if it's what's for the best for you both then it's the right thing? Let's all hope he makes his own appearance 🤞🏻

Loving the love for pickled onion monster munch, but not the pain @bez91 but it's great you can feel movements

I had a horrendous nights sleep. Woke up at 2.30 and basically didn't get back to sleep. Day with DS today is gonna be looooooong

Minster2012 · 16/12/2021 08:46

So this is the devil right? Smoked salmon (cold) and runny ish eggs?! Yum yum yum

Minster2012 · 16/12/2021 08:46

Oops

DKDK123 · 16/12/2021 09:04

@juno231 try not to worry about the drop in RHR, remember the photo I showed @paintfairy the other week of how much mine started dropping a few weeks after my bfp. I'll attach it again in the hope it offers you some reassurance.

@paintfairy just as well you spoke to your mum about Christmas Dinner and didn't just have them turn up at yours on Christmas day when you've nothing in for dinner 🤣

@larrythelizard the lottery can be such a tease at times when you've already spent the millions in your head. However £10 is still better than nothing.

I'm joining the minority that hate pate and mince pies 🤮 Love steak tho, I had a craving for one dripping in blood the other day, was actually fantasising about liking blood off the plate like some kind of vampire 🙈 think my iron levels must have been low, compromised with a medium rare one and my god it was the best tasting steak ever even if it wasn't quite the dripping in blood one I was wanting.

@Kate105 don't let him fool you, just as you're lured into a false sense of security for a few weeks they like to switch it up and change their sleep pattern just to keep you on your toes 😂 100% agree with you on babies being taken into high schools for an hour, hearing them screaming would be far better contraceptives than anything else going, the teen pregnancy rates would drop dramatically!

@Crazydoglady123 poor pooch, I hope the physio helps quickly but definitely not the best of timings for you!

@2020mission I agree with @juno231, people have the fear of inductions as its usually only the worst stories you hear not the good ones. My SIL that had her baby a few months ago had an induction and was dreading it but baby arrived only 12 hours after she was started off! I agree with the doctors of different faiths that won't necessarily be off over Christmas too, you'll be in good hands try not to worry, if they thought they'd be too short staffed or not have good doctors on they would have chosen a different induction date for you. You've just hit the tired, fed up and want this baby out stage of pregnancy, you're almost at the finish line just think you'll be holding your long awaited baby in your arms real soon 🥰

@juno231, hand hold for today, try not let your mind think that because you're doing the ivf blood tests that this little bean won't make it, sending all the positive vibes your way (tho as someone who regularly doubts theirs will make it I know thinking positively is easier said than done!)

@Minster2012 declare today a PJ and Christmas movie day with DS.

Well I tried to give myself a kick out of the worried brain after my consultant appointment and been trying to think more positively. I decided I was going to buy another baby gro like I did with my bfp to show the universe this baby is coming home to stay. Had a look about all different gender neutral ones but kept getting drawn to a girl one. Told myself it was silly as I don't even know the sex then went fuck it I can send it back if we find out its a boy so ordered it anyways 😂 DS has the t shirt version that says big brothersaurous and that's what he wore to tell the grandparents that I was pregnant, we didn't say anything just let him wear his t shirt till they realised what it said (took my mum ages to twig before dissolving into tears) so it just seemed quite fitting when I saw the baby version. Still can't believe I went ahead and bought a girl one without knowing the gender yet, I think DS has been calling it a girl so much that everyone's going to be surprised if it's a boy even tho it's based on nothing other than a 4 year olds word 😂

Nah I reckon it's more likely to stick because you're going to the trouble of moving forward with plan b @Juno231!

Gosh that sounds stressful @Crazydoglady123 - cool that they do trials for dogs though!

@2020mission my friend had an induction and ended up giving birth with only gas and air and paracetamol so it doesn't have to be a bad experience. I would be asking about an ELCS too though so you're fully informed? Exciting that you have dates and nearing the end though!

I love your positive vibes @DKDK123 - we're all fully onboard with it being a girl called Emily! When is your scan, sat or sun?

Definitely a day for screen time @Minster2012, and just surviving instead of trying to thrive.

I love the descriptions of TSD @Kate105

I have nothing to report, can't believe it's only a week since I got a BFP, still don't actually expect myself to be pregnant!

Crazydoglady123 · 16/12/2021 09:39

@Minster2012 she's actually stepping with her left hind leg today with the sling and was more willing moving in it so I'm hoping these are really good signs 🤞I have never seen Gravelax before 😂 but then I hate fish so... but I wouldn't stress too much food wise. I had a steak taco salad from the Mexican by us the other day and the steak was quite pink but smelt so good I couldn't resist 🙈 Plus you hear all these people (I know two too) who go so far through their pregnancy not knowing they're pregnant and eat anything and drink alcohol and their babies are fine.

Thanks @DKDK123! Don't knock intuition! Mines not failed me yet this pregnancy.

@larrythelizard I keep meaning to wish you congrats! It's so nice to see so many BFPs over here now 🥰
