@Juno231 I know right it was awful. You have emergency prune juice in the house?

@Sunbird24 ooo will check those out as well thank you. Def go off the 5 plus transfer. LMP irrelevant

@larrythelizard unhappy gusset area 😂that's not good!

2020mission · 13/12/2021 20:37

Lovely to see those dye stealers @Juno231 and @Vil10! My skin definitely improved in pregnancy I don't think I've had a single spot the entire time but used to get a small amount each month with menstrual cycles. I think I read one of those old wives tales that skin is worse in pregnancy when having a girl. True for me as I'm having a boy 😆 maybe you are having girls? We know @Minster2012 is at least!

@Juno231 as long as you're at least 21 DPO you are in with a good chance of seeing the 3+. Best to keep the ovulation date in mind rather than going with pregnancy weeks for testing. Fingers crossed they don't put you on iron supplements anytime soon as it makes 💩 much worse 😅 you might find it eases by the second trimester though as I found that trimester the easiest. All I had was the trapped nerve in my thigh from the growing bump but otherwise felt 100% and full of energy.

I had a pretty disappointing growth scan today to check up on the amniotic fluid. It was a trainee sonographer that scanned and she took so long struggling to see everything. She was pushing quite hard too. I was listening to a woman teach the trainee for about 30-40 mins, everything on screen was unclear as it's so far along and his head was hard for them to access down in the pelvis. I had to wait until the end before they finally said something about fluid and it turns out it has increased since my last scan 😔 I've left without them even telling me what size they measured for the baby. It felt like they were prioritising the training over actually checking me over. I'm just fed up now and really wish they would induce me or book a C-section as waiting around with the risk of placental abruption or anything else going wrong is horrible. I'm 38 weeks on Thursday and full term is 37 weeks so it would be safe to get him out now. Sorry for the rant I'm just having one of those days!

becarefuloutthere · 13/12/2021 21:01

@2020mission oh hun, sorry to hear. That sounds massively frustrating!! Do you get another midwife appointment soon? Worth raising with her and see what she says about booking an induction.

larrythelizard · 13/12/2021 21:12

Nah it's 6am gym slot catching up on me @Sunbird24 (and a bit of wishful thinking!)

Can you ring your midwife and express your concerns @2020mission and try and get some answers?

Juno231 · 13/12/2021 22:06

@2020mission well that sounds rubbish! I second calling the midwife if only to have some clarity on the extra fluid and what the measurements were. As for 3+, so far all my weeks have been running a day or so behind. Eg I got 1-2 weeks at 11dpo (negative at 10dpo), 2-3 weeks at 15dpo (stuck at 2-3 at 14dpo). I probably just have HCG doubling at the slightly lower end of the scale.

@larrythelizard speaking of unhappy gussets - I made the terrible mistake of looking up how perineal massages work and omg it's not at all as I thought 😆

This has killed me 🤣 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/4425663-Chicken-and-fish-6-weeks-pregnant

2020mission · 13/12/2021 22:19

@Juno231 I'd very much refer to it as perineal stretching. I would not call what they advise/what I've been doing a massage 😂 massage sounds sensual and relaxing but it's just stretching in an awkward position in reality. At least you know it will take a day or so beyond 21 DPO for the 3+ digital then if the others were a day or so behind. All that matters is it's increasing 👍

@becarefuloutthere I've got my next midwife appointment tomorrow afternoon so will push for all the information then! How are you getting on?

@larrythelizard not sure if it's just NHS Glasgow & Clyde but an assigned midwife isn't a thing here so there's not a specific person I can call to speak to. All I have is a few phone numbers for the main departments of the maternity hospital. I've never seen the same midwife more than once across all of my appointments throughout pregnancy. Don't have any access to paper or electronic maternity notes either. It's really quite bad. I was handling it fine until I had the polyhydramnios diagnosis at 32 weeks... I was much more chilled before when it was all straight forward checks and no concerns.

larrythelizard · 13/12/2021 22:33

Oh yeah that sounds shit @2020mission, I live in a small town and it's looked after by a team of community midwives, the one I had with DS was great so I'm hoping she's still working from my dr's surgery. Hopefully they can give you some info tomorrow

larrythelizard · 13/12/2021 22:35

And lol yes @Juno231 I am aware of it although never did it with DS, bought some oil and just looked at it in the bathroom cabinet but never quite got round it it...weird how the thought of that makes me squeamish but birth is just a bit 🤷🏻‍♀️

bez91 · 14/12/2021 07:10

@2020mission argggh that's frustrating. Still worth a call today to see if you get anymore info.

@Juno231 it's pretty grim tbh and very uncomfortable. I did it when pregnant with DD which amounted to nothing when they needed to get her out pronto. I won't bother this time 😆 I'm with @larrythelizard birth seems more appealing, it is weird

@paintfairy it's today right? Good luck!

Minster2012 · 14/12/2021 07:26

@2020mission oh god that sounds awful tbh I'd be talking to your midwife and raising a complaint, let's hope he doesn't make you wait much longer

@paintfairy ALL the luck for today darling 🤞🏻🤞🏻

You still doing the 6am slots @larrythelizard good on you

Will read that thread @Juno231 once done school run

kaylsd · 14/12/2021 08:01

@feliznavidad2 so glad to hear you had a positive experience at your first scan and you got to hear your little ones heart beat 🥺❤️ I saw biffy in October at Sheffield, he’s absolutely fabulous live! I’ve got all my presents sorted but hateeeee wrapping so much -.-
@bez91 thank you for the matalan recommendation I’m going to head over there at the weekend! I hope your DH lump is nothing sinister and they are just rushing it all for precautionary measures for you 🥺🤞🏻
@juno231 could we get away with chopping them off? Last night in bed it even was sore just to have my nightie resting against them, I’ve booked a early scan on NYE so we can tell family so I only have to lie at one occasion hopefully as to why I’m not drinking as we host a NYE party every year although we are just inviting immediate family this year with the rising cases, do you have one booked hun? I did it to support my cancellation of ivf hopefully in January 🤞🏻😬 cannot beat a stash of emergency prunes can we swap as I’m still the other way for the toilet issue 💩
@larrythelizard in accordance to my temp rises Im 19 DPO, but my app says 21 DPO and symptoms of EWCM and cramping from my LMP so yesterday was 18 DPO for the 3+ so one of the two! Had some more crazy dreams last night 🙈 I’m with you there saying it out loud just sounds like a different language using the words pregnancy & midwife to me 😳🙈
@clolo thank you sweet I’m gonna head to matalan! Only the other day I got a 25% voucher in post for them so it may have been a sign to go before! I have the worst nightmares sometimes that people may stalk me and find me on here, I get visions of joe from you lurking on Mn 🤣
@bea14 I hope your nausea and sickness passes soon sweetheart sending you the biggest hugs and loves good luck for Thursday xxx
@sunbird24 yay for 3+ how are you feeling symptom wise? Anything much at the moment hun?
@minster2012 I mentioned the dreams sweet, that’s sounds awful!! I had a strange one again last night my brother kept snakes as you had to keep them if you wanted to make puppies? And he had a cobra one which was giving me the dead eye which looked like it was gonna eat me 😬

Juno231 · 14/12/2021 08:01

@paintfairy I'm crossing everything so hard for you. And holding my thumbs as we do in Sweden 😁

Juno231 · 14/12/2021 08:04

@kaylsd I've got one for the 4th. I sadly can't do it pre NYE as I'll either be in Sweden or in quarantine.

larrythelizard · 14/12/2021 08:31

@paintfairy 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

paintfairy · 14/12/2021 08:34

Thanks everyone! I'm a bit stressed about it. I've told DH I don't want to go. 🤣

larrythelizard · 14/12/2021 09:15

I know exactly what you mean @paintfairy - scanxiety is such a massive thing - I always felt properly sick before then when pregnant with DS. We're all here holding your hand!

blackcurrantqueen · 14/12/2021 09:52

@paintfairy good luck for today darling!

@kaylsd I have a 36 week scan on NYE too!! A NYE party sounds great fun!

@Juno231 love that you're on the prunes. I've made it to baby #2 and 34 weeks and now got bloody heamarhoids and they are awful! So get on top of it whilst you can as that's one of the causes!!

We have cancelled a few things this week, covid is all feeling a bit close to home again and I think with me being heavily pregnant it's worth just keeping our heads down the next few weeks! Plus I don't want DDs Christmas ruined either 😢

I'm actually still somehow in my normal bras but with a back extender - they were super sore and tender in the first trimester but they've settled down now!

@larrythelizard I was the same with DD and the perineal massage. I got the stuff and never did anything. I just can't bring myself to get OH to do it and I can barely reach 😂😂😂

feliznavidad2 · 14/12/2021 09:55

Good luck @paintfairy 🤞🏻 thinking of you x

@Juno231 hopefully you have the best present waiting for you at home with that scan date after your time in Sweden, I hope the passport controls are smooth I've heard mixed reviews depending where you go! 🤞🏻
@blackcurrantqueen I hope your scan goes well
for it all hunny! What a lovely way to start the New year seeing your little one on screen 🥺🥰 I know what your feeling with the party scene at the moment more so you being heavily pregnant! Got to try protect yourself and the little one best you can
@paintfairy good luck for today darling, I'm sure I'll be in the same boat as you with scananxiety when only ever scans I've had before is to check out my ovaries! Hoping for good news for you 🥰🍷🤞🏻🤞🏻🌈

larrythelizard · 14/12/2021 11:50

Thanks @kaylsd I'm wondering when to try for a 3+. 16dpo today and not quite THE dye stealer I'm after but the test line is just a smudge darker than the control line.

Feeling rough as a badgers arse though, feel like I could sleep for days, fatigue/nausea seems to get worse as the day goes on which is good in terms of being able to get to the gym first thing!

Once I've finished a load of calls I'm going to go and pick up a prescription. Or I might actually have a nap first!

Juno231 · 14/12/2021 11:57

@larrythelizard I wouldn't try it before 21dpo as that's when it's been 3 weeks?

larrythelizard · 14/12/2021 12:07

Yeah I had Sunday in mind @Juno231 - got a 2-3weeks last Sunday. Don't want to try too early as I don't want to have to buy another packet of them and also if it doesn't say 2-3 it'll no doubt send me into a complete tailspin

paintfairy · 14/12/2021 12:49

Quick update (I'll catch up later).
There's a baby in there! 😱 Although it looks more like a frog to me? 🤔🤣 Measuring 8+3. Everything is longways, so it was hard to get a good angle on the picture. But she showed us the heartbeat and didn't keep us in suspense too long. DH actually touched my hand at that point, and afterwards said he felt really emotional seeing it. I think I was so switched off to it all, I'm not sure what I felt. I still can't believe this is inside me? Its very surreal. I've still got massively enlarged ovaries though, and seeing them now, I'm not surprised things weren't great before. Jesus. Here was me carrying on doing everything as normal. 🤣 The lady was lovely though and chatted with us about hospitals and all sorts and didn't rush us out. Strange morning!

Oh how wonderful @paintfairy! Does it feel more real now?
