CB Weeks indicator - any success stories?

Hi There,

Has anyone been stuck on 2-3 but went on to have success anyway and hcg was over the 3+ threshold?

I'm going out of my mind this pregnancy (5th attempt)... and so would really appreciate your opinions! :-)

I'm waiting on a blood test Thurs to confirm either way, but you know what it's like with the wait....

  • My HCGs looks amazing at 4 weeks - tripling across 48 hours
  • Weeks indicator should have turned 3+ on Saturday if tripling and Sunday if it went down to doubling
  • Hcg would have been over 4000 by Sunday and the CB threshold is 2700
  • Doctors not concerned and say they are inaccurate... i see a lot of comments on this but never a specific successful outcome

Inside the tests... the line was light-ish Saturday and got darker but has been the same darkness from Sunday. It 'almost' looks dark enough for 3+

xxx

  • sorry adding that I'm now 5 weeks 1 - hcg looked amazing between 4 weeks and 4 weeks 2 days!

Hi there - I didn't get a 3+ until 5+0 and that was with twins so I wouldn't worry too much at the moment

It's not an exact science but generally the hcg level in your blood can be 25% or more higher than in your urine and everyone metabolises hcg differently so your blood level could well be over 4000

(Don't recommend the whole taking apart tests things but I'm the worst culprit 😄 - you should see the top 2 lines turn really dark when you are close to/getting 3+ so you nah not be far off getting it)

lawandgin · 23/11/2021 14:03

I didn't get 3+ until 6 weeks. Currently 17+1 weeks. I'd ban those tests if I could, they're awful!

Rachae · 23/11/2021 14:20

@tiggerwhocamefortea @lawandgin thank you so much for your responses, I'm so freaked out. What do you make of the inside of the tests? I've lined them up and it looks like the gradient is getting lighter across the test line :-( xx

The bottom one is today's and this is across a 3 day period

@rachae I agree with the other poster who says these should be banned but was looking for info on them and came across your post. I also got great hcg at 4 and 4.2 but now I'm stressed it is maybe too high - could be a molar pregnancy, downs, or twins! Or just a strong singleton, hopefully. I think whichever way around you will find something to worry about. Have you got an early scan booked? Try not to stress, hcg has an enormously wide range and varies between blood and urine and time of day. I don't think any calculations or deconstructed tests really show you much. You could go and get another blood test if you want to compare like with like.

@tiggerwhocamefortea we have been chatting about my potential twins on the other board. I just got 3+ at 4weeks 6 days. Were you testing every day and it only turned at 5.0? I am really wondering if there might be 2 😅😰😬

lawandgin · 23/11/2021 15:13

@Rachae I don't think you can tell anything from taking the tests apart. I know it's awful but there is nothing you can do but wait and see (or pay for more hcg bloods or an early scan, but even then I'd wait until 7 weeks)

Rachae · 23/11/2021 15:47

thanks @whatcangowrong @lawandgin :-)

Yes Ive got a hcg test booked at my clinic for Thursday and the consultant's going to compare that reading with the last one I got at 4 weeks 2 days (757). She said she can calculate how it would be doubling, or not... to determine an expected outcome before the scan. (Anything not doubling doesn't generally end in a viable pregnancy long term)

@whatcangowrong I'm sure your high hcg levels is a good thing!!

I'm just really hoping that there's nothing in these lines getting a fraction lighter - it's hard to tell with the gradients. xx

Hello @whatcangowrong!

I did test pretty much most days that 4-5 week mark with clearblue - some days twice a day - cost me a fortune! 🙈so knew exactly when I got the 3+ - I had kept records of my miscarriage and ectopic testing and so had sort of set a target (I know that's ridiculous!) to get it earlier than I had with those pregnancies - I still didn't really think it was twins at that point as I knew a few people who got 3+ at 5+0 and even a day or two earlier and still had a single baby

Are you scared about having twins?? Honestly it's bloody amazing. And I actually find it easier with the twins than I did my elder daughter - I think because I'm more confident second time around. DH is useless and didn't do a single night feed either so have done it all myself and I'm bloody proud of myself 💪🏻 it's also the best diet I've ever been on - don't get a second to sit down (went back to work full time when they were 20 weeks!)

Lilypad121 · 23/11/2021 19:12

I was stuck on 2-3 weeks when I was at 5 weeks and 6 weeks, I think I POAS 6 times those weeks and it never moved past 2-3 weeks and I was in an awful state, convinced I would miscarry. I was searching all the forums here for other people's experiences. I googled HCG levels and I broke the tests apart even though that tells you nothing.

Eventually I just told myself to cop on and I figured that there was nothing I could do if a miscarriage was going to happen. I didn't buy anymore tests, and everything progressed as normal. I'm currently 25 weeks and all is going well so far. Please don't be stressing, those tests are not reliable. Just stop buying them and put it out of your mind, you will feel so much better!

whatcangowrong · 23/11/2021 19:23

@tiggerwhocamefortea yes tbh I'd be a bit scared, although think it's v unlikely. No babies is still very much more likely than 2 let's be realistic!

I'd be scared of the ravages on my body (vain I know). It was hard work carrying one but I feel completely back to normal now. A friend who had twins cannot say the same :-/

Would be scared of the high risk pregnancy. At 39... would just be so crap to lose both late on.

Would be scared that my son would feel super left out, all being well he'll be turning 2 when this baby or babies come so that's a good age but I feel 2 new babies would be a lot for him to deal with. And that would be kind of life long I guess. I know a girl who feels v left out being the third child when the other two are twins, but then she is the youngest so maybe it's different.

Would be scared that we had to move house and I love our house. But it's basically a 2 bed with another completely separate guest room which is too far away from the parents to put a young child in.

I'm quite disorganised, so there's that.

All that said I always wanted 3 children and I can't see us going back into ivf now so from that point of view it would be exciting. It's good to hear that you love it so much! I went back to work pretty quickly too - much easier than childcare!

@Rachae sorry to hijack post. I agree with everything @Lilypad121 has said! Btw your hcg on 4.2 is just higher than I had with my son and he came along just fine.

Rachae · 23/11/2021 19:51

@Lilypad121 thank you that's very reassuring to hear! You didn't get a look inside at the lines at all did you? I'm scared mine are getting lighter but hard to tell as they are not same thickness etc.

@whatcangowrong @tiggerwhocamefortea what were your HCG levels at 4.2 weeks just out of interest? Mine was 240 at 4 weeks and 757 at 4.2 xx

Previous pregnancy -267 and then 713. Healthy baby, unproblematic pregnancy.

This one - 555 and then 1927!!! Crazy high. Clinic seem unconcerned but I am a bit worried. Had 2 embryos transferred (ivf) but they weren't very high quality so it would be pretty surprising if both stuck.

Rachae · 23/11/2021 20:16

@whatcangowrong wowwza! Amazing numbers xx

Lilypad121 · 23/11/2021 20:25

@Rachae thank you! I did look obsessively at the lines inside the test but it made no sense to me and they're not supposed to be taken apart. Honestly you will drive yourself mad, please just enjoy being pregnant and as much as possible accept that everything is going well until told otherwise!

Rachae · 23/11/2021 20:27

Thanks @Lilypad121 ! ☺️ It's super hard as I've had 4 losses up to now and this is the first one where our lines have been dye stealers and HCG good levels early on. Doesn't really make much sense to me why it's not going to 3+ but yes, driving myself mad! Blood test will confirm either way this Thurs xx

OP posts:
Lilypad121 · 23/11/2021 22:20

@Rachae I'm sorry to hear about your losses, it definitely does make it harder to accept. We were TTC for years with no success until this finally happened so it felt hard to believe it was real! But all the signs point to a healthy pregnancy so try to relax and enjoy it!

Rachae · 23/11/2021 22:25

No idea what to make of this today... Line is darker now. (Today's is bottom line). So hcg not dropping, at least. But tests not showing 3+ it's so confusing.

I think you will drive yourself mad with it. I got a positive and 2-3 weeks and that felt good enough for me and I didn’t test again. I had a late miscarriage previously and have had to work so hard on not letting my thoughts spiral. As I write this I am almost 38 weeks pregnant 🤞🏻

whatcangowrong · 24/11/2021 11:20

I agree - step away from the tests! You have your blood test tomorrow. Good luck.

Rachae · 24/11/2021 11:25

@Ameteurmum @whatcangowrong thanks ladies! Stepping away.. xx

Just updating this thread as I know when I search, sometimes you don't get the outcomes.

I had my bloods done today the hcg hasn't advanced anywhere near enough for it to be viable (when comparing to last weeks reading), so now I'm waiting to miscarry. I've had a few really bad cramps today.

My advice to anyone who doesn't see the line progressing or who gets stuck on a weeks indicator, is to get some bloodwork done. It's not nice to know bad news in advance, but as someone who's now had 5 mcs... it's far better to know it's coming, face reality and detach yourself early. I'd much rather know today than it take 1-2 weeks for my body to miscarry. (Hoping to mc earlier than this, but it did happen to me once and I got a bad shock at the scan)
