Hcg levels - always follow a pattern?

Hey,

I had my bloods measured this week and it showed a triple rise. I'm wondering if anyone has a few sets of bloods and do they always triple thereafter?

I should have got a 3+ on the weeks indicator this Saturday, if my HCG was to follow the triple pattern. I still didn't get one today.

Or is it possible it could triple and then go down to double instead and still be ok?

Ps. I know the weeks indicators aren't favourable .. since I had my bloods as a threshold tho, I'm just comparing that with the 3+ HCG threshold.

Thanks Xxx

I'll add that my HCG on Monday was 242 and Wednesday was 757.

So if it was to follow a tripling pattern ... I should have got my 3+ on Saturday.

Help Confused xx

The general rule of thumb is that they should double every 48 hours But yes the growth will slow down once above a few thousand

Rtmhwales · 22/11/2021 05:05

Mine always seem to be random. Once went from somewhere around 250 on a Wednesday to 1500 or something on the Friday. Then slowed right now. Then climbed again. I think as long as they're roughly doubling I wouldn't be concerned. When mine went massively up they were concerned about a molar pregnancy but I just got HG instead.

Rachae · 22/11/2021 10:06

@Rtmhwales thanks very much for your response :-) I guess I've figured out that it would have stopped doubling as I've not got the 3+ today. I broke into the test and the line looks lighter too than yesterday so I'm thinking the hcg is going down. xx

@Rtmhwales hi, can I jump to this conversation?
Just read you had your hcg leves at 250, can I ask you at what days were you?
Had my first blood test last Friday on what it should be 3 weeks 5 days and it came at 334. Not sure if this is a good sign or is too high?

Rachae · 23/11/2021 20:40

@Thedesirerainbow hey, not sure there is a too high! I think the higher the better? It's all about what it does over 48-72 hours tho ... To check it at least doubles. Doesn't really matter what number you start with as people have different rates/ implantation dates. Mine was 242 at either 3.6 or 4 weeks.

My issue is that it's a week later and the clear blue weeks indicator won't budge. (Thanks again to the kind posters who've shared their experiences!) Im thinking the worst that my HCG was fine.. and now has stalled or is decreasing. Also can't find many stories of this happening either... Most who are slow to progress started with faint lines and low levels xx

@Rachae thank you for the quick answer! ☺️
I think there is such a thing if there is too much hcg levels. there is something called molar pregnancy and other stuff if levels are multiplying out of normal. I found this website:

www.mountsinai.org/health-library/tests/hcg-blood-test-quantitative

I had 3 clear blue digital within 8 days and went from; 1 to 2 last Monday, and then 4 days later 2 to 3, and today 3+.
When had the appointment with GP for a blood test she mentioned to spect something between 5 and 50 but could also go up to a 100, when she emailed me the results today I could not believe it and she didn't even mention anything. I'm just a bit concerned 😅

Thedesirerainbow · 23/11/2021 20:58

@Rachae how far are you now? When did you take your first and last clear blue?

Rachae · 23/11/2021 21:25

Ahh I see! I'm sure it will be ok!! ☺️ I'm just so desperate to see a 3+ but it's looking like another MC for me. My HCG level was 757 last Wednesday and so I expect the 3± this Sunday as it would have doubled over the threshold ... I gave Monday as the grace period and then it's still stuck on 2-3 today.
I took the test apart and looks like the lines are getting lighter but not 100% yet. What do you think? X

Bottom one this morning. Left line is the HCG level test line

@thedesirerainbow sorry forgot to tag!

@Rachae don't see them getting lighter at all. I see the same intensity for the 3 of them. Have you let your doctor know your concerns or are you booked in for more blood test? It might be completely fine as it all depends of the concentration of the hormones in the urine. We drink much water so it make play trick on the test when you are actually doing fine. That's why blood test are more accurate. Having all my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼 xxx

Rachae · 23/11/2021 22:05

Thanks @Thedesirerainbow ! Gosh I hope so .. bloods on Thursday and my consultant is going to calculate back the double rate to let us know if it will be viable. Let me know how you get on! Xx

Just wanted to pop on @Rachae and say that I’ve seen some women have never got a 3+ on CB digital but have gone on to have healthy pregnancies so don’t put all your hope and faith on them x

Rachae · 24/11/2021 04:39

Thanks @AllSinging I really appreciate that x

Hmm so super odd this morning, the line seems darker but still showing 2-3. Looks like my hcg isn't going down but also not riding enough for 3+ or it is and it's the tests not moving for whatever reason. No idea.

@Rachae I have read that these machines have little sensors inside to check the intensity of the lines in order to pop the messages on the screen. Maybe they are set up to be slightly darker to pop the 3+ but the fact that the lines waaay darker than yesterday I'd take it for a very very good sign!!!! 😍😍
Last night I thought about you before going to sleep and forgot to mentioned that I never take test in the morning for quite a few months now. I always do it in the afternoons or evening and my lines are well stronger and darker than mornings. Not saying that people should be doing that, but just how my test are shown 🙏🏽
I'm very happy for you! Don't stress on the message, focus that the lines are lots darker!! As this is what you would be looking if you were using test with lines xx

shannonl26 · 24/11/2021 08:55

@Rachae just thought I’d say I never got 3+ on those tests. Only 2-3 for ages! I’m now 20 weeks pregnant. Try not to worry, easier said than done I know. But those tests are not reliable for tracking weeks if you ask me!

& ofcourse congratulations x

Thedesirerainbow · 24/11/2021 09:08

@Rachae can I also ask you if your tests message disappears after 24h later? Read on internet that when they are positive they stay up to 6months it's only when they show not pregnant that message turns off right the day after. Obviously not as all mines have completely gone 😅

Rachae · 24/11/2021 09:14

Thanks so much @shannonl26 - I can't believe how many women have now said they never got the 3+ ! Can I ask how many weeks were you when you took your last 2-3 test and gave up please? Did you know your hcg? Mine's got to be over 7000 by now.

@Thedesirerainbow thank you! it will dry slightly lighter but that's what baffles me... the test is designed to read it wet and they do look dark. Even so, it's also weird that the last 3 now just look at least similar - and I'm not sure hcg just absolutely stays the same... I'd expect it to drop if there was a problem.
Not sure on the display as I break them apart lol! Have binned them all too... I guess I'll find out tomorrow pm on the bloods.

I've ordered the regular line tests again too, just to see if that line stays the same or to track if that gets lighter. (Have had dye stealers from FRERs)

xx

@Rachae I can’t remember exactly but I was around 7/8 weeks? I didn’t know my hcg either as I didn’t have any bloods done. Try not to panic, speak to your doctor about your worries :) I hope all goes well for you.

@Thedesirerainbow I’m sure it says on the box results last 24 hours. Mine were always blank by the next morning anyway!

Rachae · 25/11/2021 14:39

Just updating this thread as I know when I search, sometimes you don't get the outcomes.

I had my bloods done today and the hcg hasn't advanced anywhere near enough for it to be viable (when comparing to last weeks reading), so now I'm waiting to miscarry. I've had a few really bad cramps today.

My advice to anyone who doesn't see the line progressing much or who gets stuck on a CB weeks indicator, is to get some bloodwork done. It's not nice to know bad news in advance, but as someone who's now had 5 mcs... it's far better to know it's coming, face reality and detach yourself early. I'd much rather know today than it take 1-2 weeks for my body to miscarry. (Hoping to mc earlier than this, but it did happen to me once and I got a bad shock at the scan)

@Rachae these are very sad news and I am so so sorry you're going through this again 😞 this isn't fair for anybody but even less for someone like you who has experienced it many times now 😭
Did they actually confirmed that wasn't viable a 100%..? Is there any little chance of making it through..? I've Read in the past messages that you were over 7thousand, that was quite a lot and a very high number for a early pregnancy 🥺😢
I'm really really sorry and I'll have all fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤍🤍

Rachae · 27/11/2021 08:30

@thedesirerainbow thank you xx I tracked my own levels forward based on the last reading. But as it turns out. . it's all ok for now!

So please please ignore my last post if anyone reads this!! I couldn't have been more wrong. 🙈 The person who gave me the blood reading over the phone missed off a 0, and therefore my HCG was well within the tolerance!! In fact, from last Sunday when I started to get anxious about no 3+ I would have been over 3000. . by Wednesday it was 8000! So these tests are absolute BS and can absolutely be wrong!

Had a scan also due to the cramping at 5 weeks 3 days and all measuring well, even ahead. A sac, yolk sac and the start of fetal pole could be seen.

Don't trust Clearblue! Xxx

@Rachae what a rollercoaster! I’m so glad you’ve had some good news though. Have you got anymore scans booked in now or are they happy with progress? X
