Looking for reassurance really.
Conceived our DS on cycle 1, 3 years ago. We’re TTC #2 and I was convinced I was pregnant this month due to my symptoms but just had a BFN on a FRER and I’m feeling so sad. I know I timed it right because of OPKs and BBT but it hasn’t happened. We’re only just entering cycle 3 so it’s still early days but I’m worried there’s something wrong after it was so easy the first time.

Cycle one with first, cycle seven with second. It will happen for you xx

RedPandaMama · 21/11/2021 16:23

Contraception failure with number 1, happened literally once and got pregnant.

Number 2, third cycle.

Tibtab · 21/11/2021 16:24

Cycle 4 for number 1 and cycle 2 for number 2

BelieveInRainbows · 21/11/2021 16:28

DS2 happened first cycle for me, much the same as DS1. Number 3 however has taken 18 months and 2 miscarriages. Really threw me as I'd never had a loss before and made me worry more as each month ticked by. I sobbed every time my period arrived. Was an awful time and I fully understand your worry even if it is early days. We just kept trying and hoping and now I am 23 weeks pregnant with our 3rd.

Cycle 1 for DC1, 2 years which included fertility tests, failed IVF, and finally sorting out a thyroid issue for DC2 to be conceived.

I was 33 for DC1 and 37 for DC2

If you're getting older and can afford it I strongly suggest you push for private blood tests ASAP. I gather thyroid issues after a first pregnancy are not uncommon

Hetyanni · 21/11/2021 16:32

Straight away, accident in fact. But DC1 was 18 months. X

newtolineofduty · 21/11/2021 16:32

I posted a question just like this a while back as I was getting slightly worried when I didn't conceive as quickly second time! Baby number 1 first cycle and baby 2 (current pregnancy) cycle 5 xxx

SunndyD · 21/11/2021 16:35

For our 2nd 12 months….. given with our first I got pregnant by missing a few days of the pill 🤣🤣

PrincessesRUs · 21/11/2021 16:36

First child - literally the first month we tried. Second child - 18 long months. Just started investigating with the GP when I got pregnant!

Moonshine160 · 21/11/2021 16:52

Thanks everyone, that’s reassuring.

@PrincessesRUs was there a problem in the end or was it just by chance that it took so long? I’m only 31 so I still have time but my period pains that I get have changed a lot since before I had my DS so everything plays on my mind that there’s something wrong. I know it’s silly because there’s so many people out there that have been trying for much much longer than we have.

This gives me hope. We are on 11 months of trying and 2 miscarriages and a chemical pregnancy. Glad to see there's still hope for DC2.

moleeye · 21/11/2021 17:28

First cycle for dd, then almost 3 years of trying for ds.

I was 39 when I had him. We had IVF (private) which failed. Decided our family would be complete as I couldn't take the mental anguish anymore and felt like I was neglecting dd.

Pregnant the next month!

santabetterwashhishands · 21/11/2021 17:29

7 years
I was diagnosed with secondary infertility which shocked me as it took me a week to fall pregnant with my first

DramaAlpaca · 21/11/2021 17:33

DC1, cycle 11
DC2, cycle 1
DC3, cycle 4

NeverTheHootenanny · 21/11/2021 17:36

DC1 - 1st cycle
DC2 - 7th cycle

whymewhyme · 21/11/2021 17:47

Dc 1, first cycle and we have spent the last 15 months ttc #2. I'm at the point that i have lost hope.

BertieBotts · 21/11/2021 17:51

You have about a 20% chance of conception each cycle, most people conceive within about 8 cycles. That's why they tell you to try for a year if you're under 35 and 6 months if over 35 before getting checked out for any concerns.

It can take longer even though nothing is wrong at all. Equally, it happening fast is not a sign that you're more fertile than average - just one of those things. Don't worry :)

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 21/11/2021 18:01

Ds1 took 5 months
Ds2 the first month of trying
DD1 took 8 months

DraggedUpnotBroughtUp · 21/11/2021 18:10

You are still young.

1st DC cycle 8 ( age 31)
2nd DC cycle 1 (slightly unexpected) age 33

worry makes it harder to conceive. Relax it will happen.

DraggedUpnotBroughtUp · 21/11/2021 18:12

I also think I may have had an early miscarriage before DC1.
I was about a week late (unusual) and heavy period.

This was about cycle 4 of the 8 cycles it took to conceive.

DraggedUpnotBroughtUp · 21/11/2021 18:14

@Rtmhwales so common and there is hope. I knew a couple who spent £££ on IVF all failed, gave up (mid 30s) and then went on to have two DCs almost as soon as they had given up hope.
