Omgggg @Scottishgal85 that is exciting!! I know it's scary, and probably a big shock. I can't even imagine but how lovely to meet your little one before Christmas 🥰🥰🥰

@Nibletmum I'm the same I'm having pains. Not awful but very noticeable. I'm in for an appointment tomorrow and I'm going to mention it. Iv had nausea the entire pregnancy I'm still on medication for it but it has increased in the last 2 weeks. Back up to 2 pills a day had weaned down to 1 before.

@Tangfastic91 I know you're right. Sure I'm the first one telling people to get it 😂🙈 I honestly think it's hormones I'm over emotional about it & being illogical. I feel better even after just making the booking. This time tomorrow il be boosted 💯✅

Good luck tomorrow @Scottishgal85

My baby has been engaged since 31/32 weeks and I get such sharp pains on my cervix from her head. I struggle to get to sleep too where I end up feeling really uncomfortable by the evening and after the scare a couple of weeks ago that she was coming early and she hasn't I'm done now waiting and wish she'd just come 🙄 I have my 36 week scan on Wednesday

spttc · 20/12/2021 21:25

@Crazydoglady123 I wonder if that's what my pains are. It really is quite uncomfortable and sharp pain is exactly how I'd describe it. Im booked in tomorrow so I can ask at least.

@spttc I'd say it sounds like it! Your midwife will be checking now to see if baby is engaged at your appointments. Is this your first pregnancy?

Scottishgal85 · 20/12/2021 21:30

Thanks everyone! It's a mixture of excitement and terror at the moment, hopefully it all goes well and doesn't take too long!
It's made me realise how utterly underprepared we are though, so my advice would definitely be to get your hospital bags packed if they aren't already 😂
I'll keep you updated with how things go!

spttc · 20/12/2021 21:34

Oh @Scottishgal85 I'm the same. All my bags are half packed sort of. I need to finish them off, put them in the boot of the car and tick that off my list. Very best of luck tomorrow 🥰🥰

@Crazydoglady123 yep this is my first! So it's all new. There's just been a big shift in the past week pain wise. Baby has been head down for a while. I'm 34+1. But maybe has moved down further now and that's the difference

Crazydoglady123 · 20/12/2021 21:46

@Scottishgal85 after I ended up in hospital a couple of weeks ago my bags are in the car ready!!! When I was induced with my son with a pessary it was a good experience. My advice would be to keep walking if you're allowed!

@spttc yeah remember too your pelvis will be relaxing more ready for labour so babies head will be moving lower. Mine was 3/5ths engaged two weeks ago

Scottishgal85 · 20/12/2021 22:22

Thanks for the reassurance @Crazydoglady123, I'm hoping it is as good an experience as possible!

EsseKey · 21/12/2021 08:13

@Scottishgal85 I can imagine how shocking that could be! But is a good thing that you will get to meet your baby so soon, and most importantly more safely for both of you!! XX

DoctorBambino · 21/12/2021 09:29

How exciting @Scottishgal85 good luck for today!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 21/12/2021 10:58

@Scottishgal85 best of luck for today!! How exciting that you'll have a baby here for Christmas ♥️

Scottishgal85 · 21/12/2021 11:55

Thanks everyone 🥰 Been in since 8am and so far only baby's heartbeat has been monitored, there are currently no beds on the labour ward so I think we might have a long wait ahead of us!!

spttc · 21/12/2021 13:05

@Scottishgal85 ya gotta get that baby out before midnight. Nice birthday today 21.12.21 💯😂

BobbleWobble1 · 21/12/2021 13:41

@Scottishgal85 good luck! Hope all goes smoothly. One tip. When they want you one the monitors make sure you ask about wireless monitoring so you can keep moving. It may be standard now but I wasn't offered this with my first and I know it would have made a huge difference.

@spttc sounds very much like baby is moving downwards. I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and definitely noticing it more. For me it's a bit like random short bursts of sciatica. Passes very quickly but painful when it's there.

Scottishgal85 · 21/12/2021 15:15

Thanks for the best wishes and tips! Still haven't been started as there's still a wait for a bed on the labour ward. Consultant had mentioned the possibility of a section, so if it keeps taking so long I guess I might end up with one 🤷🏻‍♀️

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 21/12/2021 15:43

@Scottishgal85 sorry you're having such a long wait. Are you feeling okay?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 21/12/2021 15:54

Also, is anyone who is away for Christmas planning on packing and taking their baby bag and notes etc? I'm only 34 weeks so was thinking I wouldn't need it, but now wondering if I should...

EsseKey · 21/12/2021 16:16

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 sort of. Hospital bag is ready but crib and travel system are in the loft, planning to take them down after Christmas. Also I don't have many baby clothes as I know we will receive some for Christmas and I would hate to have too many of the same thing... I am a bit anxious about that in case she arrives early, but actually I just keep telling myself that if this happens, it really doesn't take too long to send someone buy few newborn onesies and take the car seat from the loft 😬

EsseKey · 21/12/2021 16:19

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I am also 34 weeks!!
Sorry i realise my message doesn't make much sense I wrote it so quickly! Anyway yes I have hospital bag ready with me, other stuff not ready yet but won't be too difficult to get them if baby arrives early 😅😅

BobbleWobble1 · 21/12/2021 16:39

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I would definitely take notes with you. For your bag it would depend where you're going and how much space you have in a car for example. If it's easy just to chuck in then I would. If not, perhaps do an "essentials" bag with the view that there's not much you can't get from a 24 hour supermarket if needed. This is what we did for our last weekend away before DS1 as we were travelling by train. I was 39+4 for reference 🙈 none of it was needed but at least we were prepared.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 21/12/2021 17:58

@EsseKey exactly, sounds like you have everything, but just need to get it down/ ready etc and that'll take no time at all!

@BobbleWobble1 I do have room in the car, I'm more just being lazy because I haven't packed a bag yet! Okay I'll get some sort of bag ready - won't hurt to just leave it in the car. Although we're in London so may we'll be uber-ing or tubing to the hospital purely due to the lack of parking there and what time of day we'll be travelling 😂

thecapitalsunited · 21/12/2021 19:32

Best of luck @Scottishgal85!

zonedoutallnight · 21/12/2021 20:00

I've bought stuff for my hospital bag (maternity pads, nappies, breast pads, witch hazel liners which apparently will ease my poorly parts after) but it's so far all sat in a shopping bag in the office nursery. I'm 34 weeks too. Dug out some old vests and onesies from previous babies so should have something for them to wear too which is good.

Have the car seat and pram sorted but the crib is still in its box at the top of the stairs.
Feeling sort of half prepared but haven't really got the headspace for it until Christmas is out of the way. Too many other things to fit into my tiny brain.
