Anyone due Nov and reached the seriously fed up/uncomfortable stage?

38+5 and seem to have hit peak physical discomfort. I have had PGP since week 12 and the third trimester has been terrible for sleep due to general discomfort, the baby kicking me and restless leg syndrome.

The baby has dropped now, and since yesterday I have had what feels like a permanent stitch on the very lower left part of my bump. The baby is moving lots, feels low, and this stitch pain is even more intense if I sit up (rather than lie down) or if I try to walk. I assume it's because the baby is low and pressing on a nerve.

The thought of another two or three weeks in this state is unbearable. Anyone else physically fed up, and just wishing that labour would start?

@T0rt0ise that is the best description for it ever Grin Now you’ve said that I can’t think of any better explanation goes off hoping laughing puts me in labour

Flutterby8 · 08/11/2021 20:30

Im a bit behind everyine else at 36+3 but i am so fed up.
I have PGP, sleeping is impossible. Reflux is also keeping me awake. Every time i stand up i feel like the baby is going to drop out of me. Im tired, irritable and dont think i can last another 4 weeks of this.
I never realised how tough pregnancy was.

Bananapancakes6 · 08/11/2021 21:40

Yes! My due date was 6th November so I'm 40+2 majorly fed up now and I just want to meet my baby! Also had PGP but only from about 30 weeks, but I haven't slept more than 4/5 hours a night since. I can't wait to have my body back and be able to sleep on my front.

Sussexgirlie5 · 08/11/2021 21:52

I literally could have started this thread, I’m 38+4 with gestational diabetes and absolutely fed up. Had hypermesis for most of the pregnancy and my taste buds are still messed up. Just can’t wait to have this baby. Ladies with GD are you being allowed to go over your due date?

Latecomer131 · 08/11/2021 23:17

@Bananapancakes6 , agreed, I am so sick of sleeping on my side and waking up repeatedly with a numb hip from the weight of the bump.

This thread is what I needed. I'm 38+4 and every day just hoping it's the day. Really bad PGP makes me want to cry turning over in bed. Or not turning over and dealing with numb legs, heartburn or breathing problems.

Oh, isn't pregnancy so glamorous.

Needingsupportplease · 09/11/2021 00:13

Just been woken up by my body. Been sat on/by the loo for 30 mins now unsure if I need to throw my guts up or poo alot. How fun! Not sure if its baby related or if I've given myself food poisoning trying out batch cooking.. lol

T0rt0ise · 09/11/2021 04:55

@Needingsupportplease that was me last night. On and off the loo for an hour before I felt I was safe to get into bed ... and now been awake since 0400 Hmm

Latecomer131 · 09/11/2021 05:12

My stitch pain has now reached unbearable levels. I am fine if I lie still on my right side, but any walking or lying on my left, is causing intense pain at the lower left of my bump, and I ended up crying after trying to walk down the stairs.

Have been fobbed off after ringing the 24 midwife number at my local hospital and told that this sounds musculoskeletal so "take some paracetamol" which I absolutely refuse to do, given evidence suggesting it's not great of you are having a boy www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/may/20/paracetamol-use-pregnancy-male-foetus-testosterone-study .

I suppose I am just supposed to put up with not being able to walk until labour? So frustrated and upset.

I’m December but I’ve got gestational diabetes and I don’t think they’re going to let me go to my due date, which I’m honestly really relieved about. Also have PGP and struggling to sleep. I have a growth scan and consultant appointment today and I’m hoping to get an induction date. The hospital have previously said they want me induced between 38 and 39 weeks (36+5 today) and I won’t be fighting induction.

T0rt0ise · 09/11/2021 08:35

@latecomer131 take the paracetamol. That article is over six years old and if there were any serious concerns the NHS would advise you not to take it like they do with ibuprofen.

T0rt0ise · 09/11/2021 08:35

*my reference to it being 6 years old is that there was any merit in the study it would have had plenty of time for the guidance to change.

This was published last month though www.nature.com/articles/%20s41574-021-00553-7

Didnt end up been sick just felt absolutely shocking and yeah same @t0rt0ise I felt safe to return to bed after about an hour, glad I'm not ill though!

@Latecomer131 so sorry you're struggling so much they should check you out though pain under the ribs can be a sign of pre-eclamsia i think? Either way you shouldn't have to just put up and shut up its awful! I've always taken paracetamol when I've really needed it during both pregnancies, there will always be some studies or stories but don't be in pain xx

T0rt0ise · 09/11/2021 09:23

@Latecomer131 that paper says 'might', burnt toast 'might' also cause cancer...

The advice in the paper isn't to not take paracetamol, it's not to take it unless medically indicated. Not being able to walk down the stairs indicates that, medically, you need to take paracetamol. What they're trying to discourage is people popping paracetamol like candy when they've got a headache that just needs a glass of water. Obviously at the end of the day this is your choice but personally I'd take the paracetamol (I also took coedine at the 20 weeks as I fractured my back).

'APAP is an important medication and alternatives for treatment of high fever and severe pain are limited. We recommend that pregnant women should be cautioned at the beginning of pregnancy to: forego APAP unless its use is medically indicated; consult with a physician or pharmacist if they are uncertain whether use is indicated and before using on a long-term basis; and minimize exposure by using the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time. '

Anyone else enjoying pregnancy insomnia?

Also the itching is driving me mad Confused (glad it's not OC but still!).

ScotsMumOf4 · 10/11/2021 03:00

Wide awake club here too 😅

T0rt0ise · 10/11/2021 03:45

Haha, I've given up and am going to read in the bath. ConfusedGrin

ScotsMumOf4 · 10/11/2021 03:49

Yeah it's not happening any time soon for me either. Doesn't help that dp is a night owl so he's currently watching YouTube beside me and I'm flicking between apps

T0rt0ise · 10/11/2021 08:40

Oh, not helpful! I had a toddler than decided to join us in bed and whilst (for him) he wasn't too wriggly when I'm the size of 2 people we really don't need an extra body in the bed as well!

ScotsMumOf4 · 10/11/2021 09:07

I managed almost 3 hours sleep and then I had to get up for the school run, dp is sound asleep. He is backshift 6 days a week but I still say sleep is for the weak in my house 😅

Wiltshire90 · 10/11/2021 09:30

I sleep fairly well now that I'm on iron tablets and itching medication but I'm still up for a wee at least three times a night! I have no other small people to look after though. Last two days at work and then mat leave begins.

Needingsupportplease · 10/11/2021 10:00

@T0rt0ise you sound in such a similar boat to me haha, 2.5year old here too who still sneaks into my bed every night so that'll be fun with a newborn too! Also can never sleep and I'm exhausted 24/7 i'm awake in the night for about 2 hours. Reflux is killing me off too!

Lillygolightly · 10/11/2021 10:41

I’m 34+2 but pregnant with twins…..everything hurts, I’m constantly exhausted and extremely uncomfortable!!!

I have 3 weeks to go until my section, I can’t wait!!!

Needingsupportplease · 10/11/2021 11:25

@Lillygolightly oh bless you can't imagine lugging 2 babies around, bet its so tough and even more draining. Well done for making it so far, not much longer x
