to conceive?

I always feel like an intruder (as a ttc-er) when I come on this thread!

I'm 28, and have been told the averages. I just wondered what the reality is. I apologise if you've all been asked this question loads of times before.

It took me two months to conceive dd at 19 (mc in first month). This time I'm on fourth cycle and it still seems unlikely I've caught.

Thank you for your help, and I wish you all well with your pregnancies.

Took me 3 mths

MuffinMclay · 11/12/2007 20:15

Ds1 7/8years. Lots of problems. Took about 1 year after they'd been solved.

DC2 1st month of trying

insywinsyspider · 11/12/2007 21:10

I'm 27 now, ds took 12 months, this one (due a wk today) took 3 months (2 periods) after stopping bfeeding - no known problems

good luck with ttc x

rascal1979 · 11/12/2007 21:11

LadyOfTheFlowersXmasName · 11/12/2007 21:15

Ds1 took 2 months after a missed m/c at 21.
Ds2 was conceived when DS1 was 4 months, within the first month of 'relations', age 22. Didn't expect it to happen that quickly!

Pickie · 11/12/2007 21:19

Wheelybahhumbug · 11/12/2007 21:23

DD - 3 months (conceived age 28)
PG2 - a one off 'lucky' shot (so to speak) but I m/c (conceived age 30)
Currently been ttc since m/c July06 to no avail. (now 32)

LoveMyGirls · 11/12/2007 21:23

dd1 was literally 2 minutes. (i was 16)

dd2 less than 3 days. (i was 23)

Pickie · 11/12/2007 21:26

lol here too, after I realised what i typed but I stopped with the pil on the 18th and was preggers the 24th.

Knew the next day I was preggers, DH didnt believe me till 2 weeks later.

I just get extremely horny when I am about to ovulate (or so I think as this happened again 2nd time round). DH now hides when I am in one of those moods

JaamyBells · 11/12/2007 21:27

Hi Abby!

It took us 3 yrs to conceive DD1 when I was 29yo, 2 months to conceive DD2 at 31yo! DD3/DS1 is proving to be more ellusive and I too have just missed on my 4th cycle.

I know it sounds corny but I am a firm believer that what is meant to be will be, however painful and that's what got me through the long wait for DD1.

I wish you all the best and a very lovely and healthy DC(s) whenever they choose to arrive. x

PortAndLemonaid · 11/12/2007 21:30

First time round -- three months, that pregnancy ended in miscarriage. Then another seven or eight months before getting pregnant with DS.

This time round -- a couple of months, that pregnancy ended in miscarriage. Then another six months before getting pregnant again.

abbyscoffedallthemincepiesmeg · 11/12/2007 21:31

Thank you all! I've also got a really regular cycle, so I'm surprised it's taken this long. I wonder whether it's partly because I've become a bit obsessed about it now. It's reassuring to hear that many of you conceived well within the year's average.

Again, best wishes for healthy, happy pregnancies. Hopefully I'll be joining you all over here soon!

4 years for DS, with a couple of possible, but unproven, m/c along the way. But that was probably partly down to suspected PCOS and other illness. Good luck!

ChasingSquirrelsUpTheXmasTree · 11/12/2007 21:32

dc1 - 11mo (29)
dc2 - 10 minutes (33)

missdaydream · 11/12/2007 21:33

Took me 4 months to conceive, then mc. Then took 2 months to conceive my dd . Good luck ttc!

Twinklemegan · 11/12/2007 21:33

Don't forget that your eggs may be fertilised every time but they may not have implanted for whatever reason. 1 in 4 is successful they reckon don't they, so on your 4th cycle you'd be exactly with the stats. And we all know about lies, damn lies and statistics.

maria76 · 11/12/2007 21:34

hi with dd1 was pg 6 wks after coming of the pill (was on it 10 yrs) i was 28

Hulababy · 11/12/2007 21:35

Took me a while to concieve DD - 15 months, early mc and then a further 15 months.

Been TTC for #2 for about 3 years. Now having treatment/ops to sort out fertility issues caused by adhesions to the uterus (caused my c section) and cervical stenosis - this might help me improve my chances of fertility. I find out in March what myc hances are.

Hulababy · 11/12/2007 21:37

Oh, I am 33 - was 26 when first started TTC with #1, 29 when she was born.

missdaydream · 11/12/2007 21:37

Apparently the best time to conceive is at 6 am .
