I'm only 6+2 and super paranoid about absolutely everything. Had my fet on the 28/09, it was our second fet after the first one failed, I had bleeding before I even got to the otd. My scan is this Thursday and it's fair to say I'm bricking it.

Would be nice to chat with some ladies who've done ivf, I have been keeping an eye on the June 2022 thread but sometimes I find I can't relate.

@Porridgeislife congratulations on the scan and results. You must be so happy. You keeping quiet on the sex?

Merry Christmas everyone! Xmas Grin

Happy Christmas Eve ladies!

Just back from my 20 week scan, baby was reallllly not playing ball. Laying in a really awkward position when we first got in there, she scanned me for a while then sent me for a walk & a sugary drink, I came back & she rescanned then sent me to empty my bladder, the rescanned & was making me turn on my back & sides to encourage baby to shift. Eventually got what we thought were all pictures & were back in the waiting room for the report & then she called us back in to take one last imagine she'd forgotten 😂 very long winded appointment but definitely felt like I got my moneys worth & saw plenty of baby 😂😂 they're super active & growing well so I'm really happy with that

Hope no one minds me sharing a pic x

Wow!! Lots of scans this week. I also Had my 12 week scan today at 13weeks. It was bang on 13weeks which I was happy about so my due date hasn't changed I'm due 1st July. Everything looked as normal as it can be and no concerns at all, had to do a wiggle dance to get the baby moving as he was laying face down. Also I think I saw 2 testicles and a willy. The sonographer even referred to the foetus as a 'He' at one point which both DH and I picked up on.

Just waiting for NIPT blood test results which will come in the next few weeks.

Not going to announce pregnancy until NYE because my heart has been racing this whole week in anticipation and I feel like I need another week to relax and catch my breathe, won't be able to handle all the attention right now.

Congrats 🥳 on the scans ladies and commiserations for the losses 😔

strawberrysummer19 · 24/12/2021 15:51

@Etonmess20 what a lovely scan pic! I'm glad you had a good experience and got to see lots of baby. So pleased for you - Christmas can begin now.

Xx

Etonmess20 · 24/12/2021 15:56

@Porridgeislife glad your results came through before Christmas & were good, such a weight off your mind

@strawberrysummer19 thank you, I'm over the moon because I can't help but expect bad news every time. Christmas definitely can begin now!

@Monday55 congratulations on your scan, definitely take the time you need to announce. We are officially "announcing" tomorrow (on social media) as we haven't wanted to before really but I finally feel ready at 20 weeks 😂

Monday55 · 25/12/2021 07:42

@Etonmess20 that's awesome and congrats on your milestone!! My initial plan was to tell people after 20weeks scan too because I've had my fare share of MCs in the past. I ended up telling a family member last night because they kept looking at my bloated belly (progesterone side effects) which does look like I'm past 20 weeks pregnancy already.
I do have a small frame (dress size 8, 5ft7 tall) so when I'm extremely bloated it does stand out.

Do you know the gender of your lil bubba yet or are you not finding out?

Etonmess20 · 25/12/2021 07:50

@Monday55 happy Christmas!! We told some close family before 12 weeks (due to bloating too) but then others after 12 weeks but I think covid means you have to "announce" more than you would usually. I've had to tell people I work with that I wouldn't have needed to "tell" because they'd have seen me & it would have been obvious! It's completely down to what you feel comfortable with though isn't it? If you wanted to tell certain people but not everyone than that's completely fine too. We've found everyone has been really happy to have some good news after all of the doom & gloom of covid!
We're going to have a surprise actually, we were asked again yesterday if we wanted to know & we were both like noooooo! Do you think you'll find out?

paintfairy · 25/12/2021 14:13

Great news on all the scans!

Just popped on to say Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄🎅

strawberrysummer19 · 26/12/2021 16:35

Hi all just checking in to see how everyone is and hope everyone's had a lovely Christmas.

My nausea hasn't subsided so that's been tricky with all these yummy foods around but other than that all is good and my cough has definitely got better and almost gone

X

HopeSpringsEternal123 · 27/12/2021 16:32

@AMN3000 I am really sorry for your loss. I just found out the same thing has happened to me. We had a scan at 7 weeks which showed a heartbeat and baby was at the right size, but went back for a scan today at 9 weeks as my symptoms disappeared about a week ago and turns out the baby had stopped growing shortly after that first scan. We are so devastated, this was our 3rd round of IVF and our first pregnancy.

Holskey · 27/12/2021 16:40

@HopeSpringsEternal123 that's terrible, especially after you've already seen a beautiful heartbeat 💐 I'm so sorry.

Etonmess20 · 27/12/2021 16:41

@HopeSpringsEternal123 oh I'm so sorry to hear that, can't imagine how you must be feeling ❤️ Sending lots of love x

strawberrysummer19 · 27/12/2021 17:47

@HopeSpringsEternal123 I'm so sorry to hear that - I had a scan at 7 and again at 9 so can't imagine that feeling when you know you've already seen a heartbeat and the right size.
I know we all know MC can happen but it must be very upsetting when you've seen the heartbeat and then this happens.
You think the changes are much slimmer of anything happening don't you so I'm so very sorry xx

paintfairy · 27/12/2021 19:03

@HopeSpringsEternal123 oh no, I'm so sorry. That's just awful. 😔

Porridgeislife · 28/12/2021 07:41

@HopeSpringsEternal123 I’m so, so sorry. You start to believe it might be a possibility once you see a heart beat, don’t you? Sending lots of love, make sure you take care of yourself.

LemonyT · 28/12/2021 11:03

@HopeSpringsEternal123 I’m so sorry. 💔

SerendipitySunshine · 29/12/2021 10:49

@HopeSpringsEternal123 so sorry to hear that. Sending lots of love.

Holskey · 30/12/2021 10:35

I hope everyone has had a good Christmas 🎄

I had my consultant appointment this morning over the phone. She's recommending I take aspirin from now until 36 weeks. I asked why (no history of miscarriage or anything, didn’t take it with my last baby). She said because IVF babies are more likely to have restricted growth. I reminded her my 18-month-old was huge and that I lost 1.3 litres of blood during birth. She said they wouldn't base it on my history and that aspirin isn't related to bleeding. They just base it on the fact it's an IVF baby and they tend to be smaller (a statistic I'm familiar with but it is very general and there are so many who aren't small!)

Anyone else had this? She said it's up to me ultimately. I'm not a rebel and usually follow medical advice but I can't see a good reason to take aspirin. Wondering if other areas are the same?

Etonmess20 · 30/12/2021 11:06

@Holskey never heard of taking aspirin during IVF pregnancies & I'm 21 weeks now with shared midwife/consultant care. We have no risk factors other than the fact it's IVF & we've been kept as shared care & are having 28, 32 & 36 week growth scans as recommended by consultant but nothing else has been suggested so far. Different areas do seem to do things differently which is very strange!

Porridgeislife · 30/12/2021 11:12

@Holskey I was 1 risk factor off being prescribed aspirin at my 8 week appointment- if I’d either had a higher BMI or been over 40 then they would have put me on it.

I’m pretty healthy apart from needing IVF so I think the threshold is quite low. I was already on Clexane anyway (stopped at 2nd trimester).

paintfairy · 30/12/2021 11:25

I thought aspirin was for suspected blood issues? I'm 10 weeks and no one has mentioned it to me so far.

RiverRiot · 30/12/2021 11:34

@Holskey I also find this a bit odd. Especially as they don’t seem to be taking your medical history into account at all.

In my area they don’t seem to do anything different for IVF at all, no consultants, no extra scans, nothing.

Interestingly the (seemingly very experienced) sonographer at my 12wk scan said IVF babies tend to measure big so I guess that opinion differs by area too. 🤷🏻‍♀️

How are you/baby measuring at the moment? Any other concerns?
If all good, I’m not sure I’d be massively inclined to take aspirin for no reason either. Could you ask for a second opinion?

Porridgeislife · 30/12/2021 11:36

This isn’t my CCG but first pregnancy + IVF alone would have you taking aspirin in Hull. My CCG needed 3 risk factors.

They state it’s to avoid pre-eclampsia or restricted growth.
