Mega different second pregnancy! Anyone else!?

Hey everyone, so I'm only 5+6 but oh my goodness this pregnancy is SO much worse than my last one! Last time I had some slight nausea on a morning with a wave in the afternoon, and the fatigue hit around 4pm. This time I'm nauseous all the time and nothing helps (have been like that since 3.5weeks!) and the fatigue is ALL day. It feels like a struggle to get out of bed!

I'm curious about other people's experiences of second pregnancies that were worse? Did it turn out to be a different gender? I'm scared it's twins or something! Xx

My pregnancies have been wildly different. First was a breeze! No sickness or nausea, no PGP or pain, only thing I had was a dairy intolerance. This pregnancy my constant nausea lasted 14 weeks, I've had awful PGP and carried completely different shaped bump.

Both boys.

newtolineofduty · 24/10/2021 21:05

@Bananapancakes6 and just one right!? It's crazy how different it can be! I'm assuming my hormone levels are simply higher this time!

Congrats on your pregnancy! Did you think the increased sickness meant it was a girl!? Xx

@newtolineofduty yes, both singletons ☺️ altho second one is still brewing so you never know, 6 scans might be wrong! 😂

I definitely thought this one was a girl, I've also had cravings for sweet things all through the pregnancy.

I hope your fatigue eases off a little bit soon! And congratulations!

newtolineofduty · 24/10/2021 21:58

@Bananapancakes6! So tough feeling poorly second time around when you can't just rest whenever you want! The symptoms are very reassuring though and I feel so grateful and lucky so I don't want to complain!

I'm totally off sweet stuff-all about the salt like last time! X

Hi

i know what you mean. this is my 2nd pregnancy and im 5w 6d too. I feel absolutely fine had a little nausea last week but no symptoms now which is worrying. My 1st preg i felt as rough as a dah. Just want a scan for reassurance just to put my mind at ease. I refuse to believe that im fine with no hint of a symptom

MadamMaltesers · 24/10/2021 22:03

dog* my 1st was a girl mind you

MyGrassIsBrowner · 24/10/2021 22:06

First pregnancy.. total breeze. Didn't really feel pregnant until I went into labour 😂
2nd pregnancy, morning sickness from the moment I took my first test which then lasted for weeks, and weeks... horrific PGP to the point I was almost bedbound. High blood pressure, managed with Labetalol and then under watch for pre-eclampsia as my legs and feet swelled to tree trunks. I had a C-section as I was in no state to birth naturally. Best decision I could have made!

Btw.. both girls! 😆

MyGrassIsBrowner · 24/10/2021 22:07

Also - congratulations! Hope your pregnancy isn't too hard on you! X

coldsandinsleepingbags · 24/10/2021 22:08

Oh you poor thing! My two were worlds apart. First had horrible nausea from weeks 6 - 16 (but managed to still work through it), then felt great, then a bit nauseaus and pukey in the final couple of weeks. But second time round, relentless nausea and exhaustion from about week 7 which didn't ease until around week 25. Ended up signed off work for most of that time, it was truly horrendous. Mental health suffered with it too. Exhaustion continued for whole pregnancy and then around week 32 I got awful PGP too. We were never considering having a third but if we had been, I couldn't risk another pregnancy like that. It was brutal and struggling so much took a toll on my mental health. I did end up getting counselling and mentally got to a really good place by the end of pregnancy which served me well postpartum. All I can say is I hope things don't get too bad for you or last too long. But if they do, make sure you get signed off work so you can look after yourself as best as possible and consider some counselling if you're struggling. Good luck. My first was a girl and second a boy by the way. No twins!

I’m in the opposite boat, 11+1 with baby #2. Everyone told me that my second would probably be miles different but it’s been pretty similar - 4 weeks of being shattered that I’m now coming out of, horribly sore boobs from pretty much the BFP (wore off around 14 weeks for DD, I’m hoping the same happens soon!), nausea in the afternoons but no sickness. I’m definitely more tired and achey this time but DD is only 14 months so I’ve been tired and achey for about a year and a half tbh 😁 craving chocolate again despite not having a sweet tooth when not PG.. I do wonder if it’s that similar because the pregnancies are so close timewise but who knows tbh!

Just goes to show how weird pregnancy can be!

newtolineofduty · 24/10/2021 22:53

Thank you everyone! You can't win with pregnancy symptoms-no symptoms is anxiety provoking and bad symptoms are just awful! I have wondered if I'll need to take some time off work this time 😞 xxx

It's so interesting that every pregnancy is different even within the same woman with the same gender baby!

I'm just praying it passes by ten weeks or so like it did last time-I feeL like the most awful mummy at the moment! Xxx

@newtolineofduty I've just come across your post. Congratulations on your pregnancy 🥰 hope the sickness passes quickly

newtolineofduty · 26/10/2021 13:12

Hey @QueenLagertha! How are you getting on? How many weeks are you? I'm 6+2! Had some bleeding and pain today though-got an appt with the EPU tomo 😭 xxx

QueenLagertha · 26/10/2021 13:18

Oh no @newtolineofduty! I hope it's nothing to worry about. Thank goodness you have appointment tomorrow. I'm sure you're worried naturally. I am 13+3. It's going so fast. Haven't even had a scan yet though. Hope your scan tomorrow goes ok 🤞🏼

newtolineofduty · 26/10/2021 13:42

@QueenLagertha thanks hun. I'm fairly confident all is ok but don't want to take the risk. I was surprised the GP agreed to a referral though to be honest! When is your scan? How have you been? I've been/am so poorly! X

QueenLagertha · 26/10/2021 13:54

@newtolineofduty yeah better to put your mind at ease! My scan is on Friday. Starting to feel a bit nervous. Though I've been feeling some movement the past few days. Minimal symptoms for the first trimester except for bloating, constipation (TMI) and tiredness in the evening. So it has been easy to not think about the pregnancy much tbh.
So different this time. Last time I was sick from 4 weeks to 14. Unrelenting nausea and food aversions. Lost quite a bit of weight. Are you vomiting?

Somerandomgirl · 26/10/2021 13:56

I feel the same, like its worse but my partner says i had it bad with first too according to him even worse...amnesia after birth is playing a role i think , we forget 🤣

newtolineofduty · 27/10/2021 14:14

@QueenLagertha glad this pregnancy has been a little easier for you! Not vommited yet but I think I'm heading that way! Had our scan this morning and all went well so very relieved! Sending you love for Friday xxx

Aww that's brilliant. I'm glad to hear alls ok. Thank you 🥰😘😘

QueenLagertha · 29/10/2021 18:45

@newtolineofduty all good at scan today. Was lovely to see little one on the screen. I finally believe now that there's something in there!
They want to rescan me again next week as they say my dates are wrong and I'm actually over 15 weeks. I've told them I am 100% sure of my dates. How is your sickness now??

newtolineofduty · 29/10/2021 21:40

Oh wow @QueenLagertha! Do you think maybe your last period was implantation bleeding or something!? Congratulations though hun! Better to be measuring bigger than smaller too! X

OP posts:
QueenLagertha · 30/10/2021 07:35

@newtolineofduty no def not. I was temping and using temp sticks too plus my cycles are regular so I'm sure my dates are correct
You're right it is better to be measuring ahead.
Such a relief to see him/her on the screen

newtolineofduty · 30/10/2021 12:21

This is when it's so helpful to have tracked cycles so well @QueenLagertha! When's your next scan? Xx

OP posts:
QueenLagertha · 30/10/2021 12:26

@newtolineofduty it's on Tuesday. The sonographer lingered on a shot of baby from underneath and there was no bits and I'm sure I saw 3 white lines. Think we're going to find out this time at 20week scan. Have DS already and would love another little boy so that he can have a brother. But equally happy with a little girl too. This will be our last baby. What about you?

LittleLottieChaos · 30/10/2021 12:43

Second pregnancy has been much worse, I am the most tired I’ve ever been. Nausea at the start was horrible, but was also so hungry I just had to eat all the time. I’m not sick now but can’t eat because of reflux… 35 weeks here & i cannot wait to just push this baby out. I will feel a million times better once I get my body back, I feel like all my energy and vitamins are sapped. Never again.

I think it’s just having another child to look after, working and being pregnant is a huge strain. I’m having a boy again so I don’t think sex has anything to do with it.
