No fetal pole

Had an early scan but thought I was later than I am, they put me at 5.5, saw sac and yolk but no fetal pole. I know it's early and this can happen but guess I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and all turned out okay? Bit paranoid as my boobs don't seem to be hurting anymore for the last day or so and I don't exactly have any other symptoms, so that's feeding my worry.

How far did you think you were?
I had a scan at 5 weeks, sac and took visible, no fetal pole. He is now 3.
You are early and that's what I would expect to see at 5 weeks.
My sore boobs went at 5 weeks, no other symptoms until 7 weeks.

I thought I was 6 weeks so only a couple of days behind. I do have another scan for in a weeks time I really hope that'll be far enough along to see something then otherwise it's really Gona worry me even more

Reassuring your sore boobs went and come back. They were pretty sore constantly and now just nothing ! Its so concerning

Unfortunately this is the thing with early scans you don't always see much!
I only had one early due to my IVF clinic other than that I normally tell friends to wait until 8 weeks.
My sore boobs didn't come back but the sickness came!
Completely normal for what stage your at.

Yes the other scan is with my ivf clinic. Trying to be postive but the last two days I've just felt unbelievably sad. I'm trying to blame hormones at least...

5.5 is super early. Im sure it'll be fine at your next one!

Ah IVF baby too! Congrats Thanks Honestly you will be fine! I remember coming away from the 5 week scan feeling deflated but they grow/develop so much within a week. You are certainly not out of the game.

@CocaColaTruck1 you know what's got me the most, I did a test two days ago and it was a full on dye stealer to the point I could barely see the control line, and so I did one again this morning to try and reassure myself, again I had a dye stealer but this time the control line was only faint, so of course that's made me think omg my hcg must be dropping ! Even though it was very much postive

Do you know what size the gestational sac was in the scan? There are some charts online that you can look at to see roughly what you should expect to see depending on the size of the sac, as well as what the sac size should be at different stages.. I would not recommend going down that path, though. I've been there before and it was not helpful at all. In my case it ended being a blighted ovum and my sac was completely empty and was the size equivalent to at least 6+3. In your case, if the sac was sized at 5+5 and the yolk was there, it sounds like is very likely that it was just too early. I remember reading obsessively about the topic during the wait between scans and all the success stories were cases like yours. Sending you hugs Flowers

@Unarosaes I do know yes as I have a picture with the sizes on for the ivf clinic. But no I agree I should not go down that path, I will end up in a right state.
Epu said all looks totally normal for this stage so I need to just put my faith in that. Honestly I've turned into a paranoid mess I feel absolutely out of my mind with worry. I've cried so much today, my partner is getting stressed too because I'm stressed. Thank you for being kind

@screamqueen21 I don't remember the sizes as it was 6 months ago, but it sounds quite small yet, so finger crossed. At the early stages everything is super small, and every living organism is different and grows at slightly different speeds. You will only be able to know for sure at the next scan. I hope time doesn't drag too much until then and that it is good news.

Sorry to confuse you. When I had the blighted ovum, my sac was too large to be empty at the first scan already. So the chances were very slim. I meant that yours is still quite small and you have a yolk, so there may be still hope. But all my knowledge is off the internet, so take anything I say with 10 pinches of salt. At the end of the day, only the doctor will be able to tell you at the scan.

@Unarosaes I'm taking hope that at epu they said all looks normal for where I'm at. But at the same time I was extremely upset and maybe they didn't want to worry me further. Thanks for the info. I really wish I could fast forward to Thursday. I feel like I had loads of symptoms weeks 4-5 and the last few days nothings happening

I can't find it, thought I had it in his book.
Forget the measurements op, if anything to be a concern the hospital would have said.
It's not their job to do so not to sugar coat it in anyway.

Thank you. I know I'm being slightly hysterical btw, very irrational but I can't really help it. It doesn't help with a lack of symptoms. I think if I was being sick or my tits we're on fire I'd be reassured.

@CocaColaTruck1 I was wondering how ivf dates could be wrong? I used an online fet calculator and it said I should be 6+1 today but the hospital have me a couple of days behind, would you know why this might be ? Is it just because the baby implanted late ?

Basically yeah, as we don't know when they implant!
My day was out by 1.
Your 2 days out if I've worked it out right?
Which honestly is nothing!
At your 12 week scan you may be out again!

@Unarosaes It's bloody hard isn't it this waiting game, all I did yesterday was cry. I do think a lot of it is hormones not helping either. Having some stretchy feelings atm just trying to find comfort in that
