Hello,

I just found out I’m pregnant again (very early days, 4w today). I had a mmc back in April which was diagnosed at almost 12 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks and then I fell pregnant again but had a natural mc at 5+5.
This time I am taking progesterone pessaries and aspirin. Anyone else pregnant after a loss? I’m so scared about mmc but trying to relax as much as possible.

After 2 miscarriages I didn’t tell anyone when I got pregnant the third time until I’d had my 12 week scan. I found I liked that it was my husband and I’s secret and I also didn’t have to face any questions from friends or family how I was feeling, or indeed disappoint them if I lost it again. I know I wouldn’t have disappointed them but that’s how I felt.

I read on this forum someone said you’re only pregnant until you’re not any more. So enjoy it. That helped me gain and bit of perspective and appreciate being pregnant.

SRLaycock · 24/10/2021 15:09

Hi everyone

I’m 6 weeks pregnant 😊. This is my third pregnancy after 2 miscarriages.

I started with some mucus type bleeding - mainly on wiping (sorry if that’s too much info) 5 days ago and it doesn’t seem to have stopped.

I had a scan at 5+4 (because of the bleeding) and everything looked fine, no heartbeat visible but sonographer and nurse reassured me that’s normal at this point. The nurse on EPAU said she thinks I’m experiencing implantation bleeding.

I’m kind of just looking to discuss what others have experienced and if this has happened to anyone else? My understanding was that implantation bleed didn’t usually last this long.

I’m absolutely terrified so any advice/chat etc is so welcome.

Hiya @SRLaycock I'm also pregnant after 2 MCs so I know exactly how anxious you're feeling.

I'm sorry to hear about your bleeding. It would drive me crazy too.

However, if it's any consolation whatsoever I think it's not a worry unless you have big cramping too. ThanksThanks

SRLaycock · 24/10/2021 17:44

@PeeAche Thankyou so so much for your reply and congratulations on your pregnancy!

I think I'm super, hyper anxious about anything and everything now because of past losses.

I have little niggly pains that I've had for 2 weeks but they feel like the usually stretchy/crampy pains you get whilst everything is expanding and moving etc etc.

I'm very new to Mumsnet so I do apologise if I'm replying out of order/asking a question bang in the middle of someone else's conversation! Xxx

weathervane123 · 24/10/2021 17:52

Hi everyone. I'm so sorry for everyone's losses. I've recently found out I'm pregnant for the fourth time this year after three losses. I had a mmc at 6+5, an ectopic that miraculously resolved naturally, and an mc at 5+5 in early Sept.

I tested for this one at 10 dpo and am now 12 dpo (so 3+3 by ovulation). I've just got a 2-3 weeks on a CB digital. I have no idea whether to trust that as a good sign. It certainly surprised me as I've notoriously low/sluggish hcg.

I'm under the care of a recurrent miscarriage unit, and have had tests for clotting - fine so far. I've also been prescribed progesterone suppositories (300mg). Not sure if I actually need them. I hate them!

Now we've got the 2-3 weeks on the digi, my partner wants us to hold off on any more testing until next weekend. I'm anxious already and afraid that what looks like a good start will just end up like the others, except I'll be unprepared and even more crushed by it.

The next few weeks is going to be hard. Any tips for handling it?

weathervane123 · 24/10/2021 17:58

Oh and it's weirding me out that I have virtually no symptoms. Even the progesterone these past couple of days hasn't amounted to much. I hate that because I'm taking it, I can't tell how I'm actually feeling.

SRLaycock · 24/10/2021 18:33

Hi @weathervane123

Firstly.... congratulations! Wonderful news for you 😊

I would say don't be alarmed by your 'lack' of symptoms as you're still super early and from what I've read earlier on in this thread everyone has such a variation in how they present that it's all down to individual bodies.

Tips for dealing with the anxiety? I'm super anxious myself so that's why I reached out on here....... I find talking things through with people who have had similar experiences seems to keep me grounded.

Happy to be a listening ear anytime xxx

GinnyBee · 25/10/2021 10:25

@weathervane123 My symptoms this time round didn't start until 6+1, until then I felt better than I did before I was pregnant! I'm also on progesterone pessaries, same as you I don't know I need them but no harm in trying.

mumuldn · 25/10/2021 10:32

Thanks @black2black that's helpful.

I've started feeling more exhausted again so a little relieved plus I did a test today and it's saying 2-3 weeks now. Last time around I stayed at 1-2 weeks even at 5+0 - I know it's just one data point and doesn't mean a whole lot but this next week is going to be super tough for me so I'll take it!

I'm seeing a specialist who had warned me not to get worried about lack of progesterone symptoms or changes in them - that it could well be the liver processing excess progesterone better. But I definitely feel comforted having a couple symptoms even if not the full shebang

weathervane123 · 25/10/2021 14:51

@SRLaycock Thanks so much! Most of my friends are happily childless so it's really good to have people like you and everyone here to talk to. I feel more pregnant than I did but am putting that down to the extra progesterone for now. Sorry to hear about the bleeding. It must make the anxiety so much worse. How are you doing today?

@GinnyBee thanks, that's really helpful to hear. I'm just constantly comparing to all the other times, forgetting how early it is and the fact that save low and slow-rising hcg, they were all so different!

@mumuldn That's good news! Looks like we're a bit similar. I'm 13 dpo or 3+6 (from ovulation, not lmp) today, and did a CB digi yesterday that said 2-3 weeks. It surprised me because I'm used to getting stuck on that blasted 1-2 weeks too. I was dreading seeing it, like it's given me mild PTSD. My EPU will probably scan me at 6 weeks because of my ectopic, but I'll have to wait until 7 thanks to a trip we have planned. At least there might be more chance of seeing something definitive. It all seems so far away. I can barely imagine reaching that milestone.

SRLaycock · 25/10/2021 16:53

@weathervane123 I'm surprisingly good today thanks - I've had a few hours with some of my girl friends so that's kept me nice and occupied. How're you feeling today? It's a lovely little forum this - so glad I found it 😊

PeeAche · 25/10/2021 17:30

5 days until I'm the most pregnant I've ever been. Anybody else counting the days like this?

SRLaycock · 25/10/2021 17:43

@PeeAche 100%!!!! I have everything crossed for you and everyone else in this group! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 how are you feeling?

I'm 6+1 today - my last MC started at 8 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 6 so I'm with you on that - taking a day at a time and hoping and praying I reach past that next milestone.

SRLaycock · 25/10/2021 20:19

So my bleeding has changed and it seems like old blood - has anyone else had this before?

weathervane123 · 26/10/2021 10:17

@SRLaycock Sorry, I had a busy day yesterday! I'm feeling ok. Did a little cheapie strip which came up almost as dark as the control. Made me feel a bit reassured. Going to hold off on any more tests until the weekend at least. Sorry to hear about your bleeding but the fact its tapering off sounds like it might be a good sign. Have you done any more tests?

@PeeAche Absolutely! I'm 4 weeks on the dot today and staring at next Tues in my calendar thinking it's light years away. I haven't made it to 7 weeks recently, though I've gotten further than that many years ago. I'm away at my mum's in week 6 which is within my danger zone. The idea that the worst could happen when I'm away from home is... exhausting.

PeeAche · 26/10/2021 10:53

@SRLaycock - at 6 weeks, brown blood could be from implantation. How are you feeling? Have you had any more blood since last night?

I'm doing okay. 4 days until my next "milestone". Then it's 2 weeks until my early scan. I have all these little milestones marked in my calendar to try and keep me sane.

SRLaycock · 26/10/2021 11:20

@weathervane123 that's good that it came up so dark so quickly! Really positive sign (literally!)

I did a repeat test yesterday and it came up positive straightaway - I'm like you though - going to try and refrain from doing them. I find it kind of feeds my anxiety a bit

SRLaycock · 26/10/2021 11:26

@PeeAche I think that's a really good way of dealing with the worry that comes with early pregnancy post MC - take each day as it comes and aim for those individual milestones. I literally have everything crossed for all of us.

I feel ok today, the bleeding has tapered off again and I have very little pain - just the usually bloating/occasional cramp that I figure is just everything stretching etc. It's bizarre because some days there's none at all and others it's intermittent - EPAU said they thought it was implantation bleed but it's been going on for well over a week now.

weathervane123 · 26/10/2021 11:51

@SRLaycock Great news! I think refraining is a good idea though I'm very tempted today. I've noticed my boobs are a fair bit less sore. :-(

SRLaycock · 26/10/2021 11:54

@weathervane123 mine too - but trying not to overthink. I know with my last two pregnancies the sore boobs weren't always consistent even before MC so could just be you're getting a day off from having that pain 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

ballanj · 26/10/2021 14:58

Hi everyone,

Have been hovering around on here reading everyone's comments and experiences. It's good to hear from other people in the same boat!

I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks in July this year, was my second pregnancy, I have a son who's just over two and a half. I think having fell straight away with my son and having a textbook pregnancy, the idea of miscarriage never entered my mind so when it happened, it completely knocked me for six.

Was made all the more stressful because it was suspected ectopic thanks to a cautious sonographer at a private scan. Thankfully it wasn't but the process wasn't quick and was being monitored and ending up having MMC. However, shortly after we fell again straight away and I'm currently 7+4.

I've been struggling with my anxiety and just can't seem to relax and enjoy this for what it is at the moment. But im trying to think positive in that 3 out of 4 pregnancies are successful and each day that passes is another day down. Trying not to symptom check and I do remember them coming and going with my son. It's good to hear from others who are going through similar

SRLaycock · 26/10/2021 15:37

@ballanj Hi! Congratulations on your pregnancy - how're you feeling with this one? Xxx

itssquidstella · 27/10/2021 10:11

I’ve had three miscarriages since Jan 2020. Just had a scan and seen a healthy baby measuring 10w1d!

Obviously not out of the woods yet, but this is the furthest I’ve ever been so crossing my fingers hard that everything will be okay this time.

SRLaycock · 27/10/2021 10:34

@itssquidstella Amazing news! Huge congratulations!

itssquidstella · 27/10/2021 10:53

Thanks @SRLaycock! Cautiously optimistic for the first time 😊
