Hello,

I just found out I’m pregnant again (very early days, 4w today). I had a mmc back in April which was diagnosed at almost 12 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks and then I fell pregnant again but had a natural mc at 5+5.
This time I am taking progesterone pessaries and aspirin. Anyone else pregnant after a loss? I’m so scared about mmc but trying to relax as much as possible.
@OnceUponAThread Are you going to book a private scan? I'm furious for you that you've been left to worry for so long! I know it's easy for me to say but my symptoms do come and go regularly and all is fine at the moment so try not to let that make you panic too much (but I know that's super easy to say but so much harder to actually do) xxx
Yes I think I'm going to have to. Doctors keep saying they've referred me but I'm getting nothing back. Can't get through to EPU. My 12- week is booked in for just before Christmas but I can't wait that long. I'm through the roof with anxiety as it is.

OnceUponAThread · 15/11/2021 22:11

@mumuldn

Hey everyone, having a very difficult day today so thought I'd come here. It makes a difference to read about everyone's experiences

I had an internal scam last Thursday at 7&1 and I was showing as normal looking (gestational sac, yolk sac and 3mm embryo tail) but quite small, so was told to come back in 10 days for another scan.

Today I've had dark brown spotting. It's very very light but this, coupled with the fact that my boobs aren't as sore as yesterday is making me super nervous.

Could be from the scan, but could be start of a mis. I know there's nothing I can do but wait and get bloods but it's really tough

Big hugs to everyone

Argh. That does sound stressful. It sounds like the doctors are cautiously optimistic though so try not to worry (although I know how impossible it is). Ten days is such a long wait too. Try to stay calm and relax lots if you can. X
mumuldn · 15/11/2021 23:08

Thanks @OnceUponAThread and @Onebabyandamadcat - appreciate your replies

The on-call gp said it's best just to wait as going in for scans etc might not tell me a lot but the spotting is now a more darkish brown red so if it continues I'll try and get bloods in an EPU tomorrow.

It's so nerve wracking - is this normal digestion discomfort or start of cramps etc? My boobs are kinda tender but is it less than normal? My emotions are all over the place I've gone from calm and okay to crying tonight.

Crossing everything and trying not to stress out 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

OnceUponAThread · 16/11/2021 19:53

How's everyone getting on?

I've finally, finally managed to get my early scan booked for next week.

Completely and utterly and wholeheartedly terrified now. I really hope it's good news.

mumuldn · 16/11/2021 21:13

Glad you've got a scan sorted @OnceUponAThread! I really hope all goes well for you

I started bleeding heavily a few hours ago so it's not looking good. Have EPU appt first thing in the morning. Totally shattered as I thought this time we had a shot but it is what it is.

I really want to get more support next time around (assuming there is one), progesterone etc. Hope they'll take things more seriously now as this is my 2nd mis. Feel like I kept asking for blood tests and they just won't do it. Probably time to start getting proper tests all round, me and my hubby.

So sorry you're bleeding, super scary. Wait and see what the doctors say. I've got everything crossed for you for tomorrow, will be thinking of you.

It is absolute shit how they just won't do anything unless you have three miscarriages. It's revolting and wouldn't happen if it was men who were suffering.

Imagine if they said: oooh sorry, we can't help you until you've had three strokes, the first two are just life.

It makes me so cross that you can't get help for recurrent physical and emotional trauma, nor any support when trying again, until you've gone through something multiple times. Disgusting.

mumuldn · 16/11/2021 22:32

Thanks @OnceUponAThread, it's such a tough process.

Hang in in there until your scan, have everything crossed for you 💗

Onebabyandamadcat · 17/11/2021 06:56

@mumuldn I'm so sorry this is happening. I'll say what everyone else has said to me re bleeding - sometimes it's not always a miscarriage. But I know that doesn't always help. I hope you at least get answers today and it's not too painful. Look after yourself.

Onebabyandamadcat · 17/11/2021 06:58

I'm still hanging on until Friday. Bleeding has stopped pretty much - just the occasional slightly brown discharge. My boobs are so sore and I've reached to point of having to get out the shower to puke this morning. I don't want to let myself get hopeful but I can't help it. I really hope this wee bean was just a very late ovulation. With my MMC my symptoms started to fade not ramp up, surely that's got to be a good sign?

SRLaycock · 17/11/2021 11:46

@OnceUponAThread Good that you've got a scan booked - fingers crossed for you! How're you feeling?

@mumuldn So sorry you're having such a rough time, hopefully you'll get some answers and some support from EPU today 🤞🏼

@Onebabyandamadcat Definitely a good sign that your symptoms are ramping up. I know they can fluctuate but I always think feeling rubbish is atleast a positive thing 😊 the only time we are happy to feel crap

mumuldn · 17/11/2021 12:56

Thanks everyone.

@Onebabyandamadcat that def sounds positive, hope it goes well for you

Unfortunately for me, they confirmed I'm going through an mc this morning. For anyone in the London area, the team at QCCH EPU were so supportive, much better than the last EPU I went to. Will definitely stick with them if hopefully we get pregnancy again.

Best of luck everyone, really hope things go better this time around 💗

GinnyBee · 17/11/2021 13:06

Sorry to hear that @mumuldn :( That really sucks xxx

I had two mc in the past year and then was prescribed progesterone and started taking aspirin too with this pregnancy, and am now for the first time ever in my second trimester. Hoping you'll have similar success next time! I wasn't able to get a referral for recurrent miscarriages but got basic blood tests done through my GP, which all came back normal, and the consultant agreed to prescribe progesterone despite not agreeing to take me on as a patient. Always worth asking!

mumuldn · 17/11/2021 13:10

Thanks @GinnyBee! I will definitely do that. They told me today they can't refer me as it's not my 3rd but if I need to go to a private gp next time (hopefully there will be a next time! I will.

So glad you've made it to the 2nd trimester, that's amazing. Gives me hope 🌸

Loubylauralou · 17/11/2021 13:25

@mumuldn I'm so sorry to hear that. Take care of yourself.

Thank you everyone for your kind messages. I had my appointment at EPU today and they have booked me in for surgical management on Friday.
The Dr advised me to wait 6 months before trying again, has anyone else ever received that advice? They didn't say that last time.

mumuldn · 17/11/2021 13:42

I'm sorry you're going through this @Loubylauralou it really sucks.

I'm not an expert but it seems like strange feedback generally without any specifics. They told me today to wait for at least one cycle/period but there was no reason we shouldn't get try again right after that.

Loubylauralou · 17/11/2021 13:49

Yes that's what they said to me last time, this Dr was a GP trainee on rotation though so on her own admission not an expert in the field.

Tryingformylastmiracle · 17/11/2021 14:05

@Loubylauralou my doctor said to wait 3 months in the meantime took all the vitamins needed before we started trying again which worked I got pregnant exactly the 4th month first time trying and also banned me engaging in any sexual activities till later on

Oti21 · 17/11/2021 14:12

So sorry to hear that @mumuldn

@Loubylauralou the advice I had was to have a period before ttc again however I then spoke to an obstetrician (friend of a friend) who told me that was rubbish and to ttc straight away as your most fertile in the few months afterward a miscarriage. They said the advice to wait for a period is only given so it can be dated and advised me not to follow it... My surgical management was straight forward and the care I had at was amazing at Liverpool Women’s. I hope it goes as well as it can for you. x

GinnyBee · 17/11/2021 16:07

@Loubylauralou I was advised to wait for a negative pregnancy test, so potential retained product wouldn't be mistaken for a new pregnancy and risk infection, and that usually they advise to wait for one period so it's easier to date but not for any real medical reason. I've also read that you're more fertile and have a slightly lower risk of another miscarriage if you get pregnant again within 6 months.

OnceUponAThread · 17/11/2021 17:12

@mumuldn I'm so sorry to hear that. It's the absolute worst and so horrible. Sending you strength.

Definitely worth talking to your GP, even though you can't get the recurrent tests they may be able to prescribe you something. X

This is quite unusual. After my MMC they said they advised not trying till I'd had a neg preg test and a period. They said that was for dating any new pregnancy as much as anything though.

Did they give a reason for six months?

Thanks for asking, I feel dandy with no symptoms whatsoever, which is super worrying. Last time with no symptoms it was a MMC and the only change was my boobs stopped hurting (which they have again). I guess I'll have more info either way next week, but I'm preparing for the worst.

SRLaycock · 17/11/2021 18:01

@OnceUponAThread Sorry that probably didn't sound very thoughtful of me. When is your appointment next week?

OnceUponAThread · 17/11/2021 18:52

@SRLaycock It was super thoughtful!!! Sorry this is a bad medium sometimes - I was genuinely pleased you asked. Appt next Tuesday so everything crossed. 😬😬😬

Loubylauralou · 17/11/2021 21:23

She said to give my body time to recover, seems a long time to me though.
