Hello,

I just found out I’m pregnant again (very early days, 4w today). I had a mmc back in April which was diagnosed at almost 12 weeks but baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks and then I fell pregnant again but had a natural mc at 5+5.
This time I am taking progesterone pessaries and aspirin. Anyone else pregnant after a loss? I’m so scared about mmc but trying to relax as much as possible.

@SRLaycock Also in the same position as you, also a nurse and I'm overanalysing everything too! I've got my repeat scan on Friday. By my dates I was 8+4 when I went last week but was only measuring at 6 weeks and no hb. I hope all goes well for you tomorrow.

SRLaycock · 10/11/2021 17:04

@Onebabyandamadcat @Loubylauralou Thanks ladies...... it is comforting having this thread to vent on, swap stories/advice etc etc.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings...... I have literally everything crossed for all of us xxx

OnceUponAThread · 10/11/2021 17:10

@SRLaycock

I have my scan tomorrow after the discharge/bleeding I had a few weeks ago. First scan showed a gestational and a yolk sac but no heartbeat (I was 5+4) - tomorrow I'll be 8+4.

Everything seems to be ok, I've had no bleeding for over a week, no pain, boobs (prodded daily) remain swollen and sore, nauseated etc etc.......

I still can't shake the terror that I'm feeling because of previous MMC's 😕

I'm a nurse and have a really logical scientific outlook on most things but when it comes to this pregnancy I'm completely irrational and can't stop over analysing absolutely everything.

I think the sore boobs is a good sign. When I had my MMC the only thing I noticed at all was that boobs stopped hurting (despite daily prodding).
SRLaycock · 10/11/2021 17:50

@OnceUponAThread that's reassuring. If I'm honest I think my brain has blocked out a lot of the details of both my MMC's purely because of how traumatic they both were (physically and mentally) so it's hard to make comparisons x

MissOrganisedMe · 10/11/2021 18:11

@Onebabyandamadcat I've never had actual sickness. Hope you're feeling better as the day has gone on.

@GinnyBee How did work take your news? All ok?

@SRLaycock Positive thoughts for tomorrow. I'm similar to you, I've blanked them out.

For me, continued with some brown discharge today. Have felt nauseous at times and I think my boobs are sore. Not sure if this is my imagination.....

OnceUponAThread · 10/11/2021 19:13

I really wish the EPU would get a move on and let me know about my scan. Getting more terrified with every passing day and could really do with some news.

MissOrganisedMe · 10/11/2021 20:08

Can you make contact with your EPAU yourself @OnceUponAThread?

If I make it to 6 weeks, I think I'll call mine to see if a reassurance scan is possible.

SRLaycock · 10/11/2021 20:26

Thankyou @MissOrganisedMe 😊

@OnceUponAThread Did they not give you any idea of how long you'd have to wait?

OnceUponAThread · 10/11/2021 20:45

Docs seemed to think I'd have a slot by now. I can't self-refer (because I haven't had enough MMCs 🙄) so it has to go through GP.

I know they've put the referral through but nothing back yet. Might ring the EPU and see what's going on.

GinnyBee · 10/11/2021 21:14

@MissOrganisedMe Didn't do it in the end. I'm still waiting for a written confirmation that my probation period is over, which I was expecting to get today, but hadn't yet when I logged off at lunch as I was only working a half day. Might wait til next week now, it might seem a little... sneaky, to tell them straight after being made permanent.

SRLaycock · 10/11/2021 21:14

@OnceUponAThread Definitely ring them - even if it just gets you a bit more info.

It's infuriating that you have to have had so many losses to be able to self refer - when I first bled I literally got passed from pillar to post, I ended up in A and E who were the ones who got me referred to EPAU.

It really shouldn't be this difficult and I really hope you get some answers soon xxx

SRLaycock · 11/11/2021 10:15

Just had my scan! Baby is measuring at 8+2 (i thought I was 8+4), saw a heartbeat and 2 little arms and 2 little legs! She even gave me a free picture 😊

The sonographer spotted a very small haematoma but assures me that's really common in early pregnancy???

Can't begin to explain the relief.....this is the furthest I've ever gotten ❤️

MissOrganisedMe · 11/11/2021 10:18

@GinnyBee understand that.

@OnceUponAThread hope you have some success with your EPAU today.

Today is CD35 for me. Still cramping. No period and the discharge seems to have dried up.

The desire to test is getting stronger. I'm still going to hold out. Had a wobble about how old I am if all goes well. Just got to keep taking it easy.

This is the best news! Congratulations!!! So so happy for you. I hope you can relax a bit more now.
SRLaycock · 11/11/2021 10:26

@Onebabyandamadcat Thankyou so much 😊, I really hope I can relax a bit and start to enjoy it more. I think 12 weeks will be the big one for me in terms of relieving anxiety xxx

MissOrganisedMe · 11/11/2021 11:07

Oh wow @SRLaycock we cross posted. Great news. How amazing to see it on the screen!

Tryingformylastmiracle · 11/11/2021 11:23

@SRLaycock that's good news do you wanna hear the truth Smile you wont relax as much till he or she is in your arms I was like that after 12 weeks I will relax then went to read things online which made me think mmmh it wont feel real till you stare at him or her like oh my u really here even though movements are reassuring nothing beats that moment of she is here he is here a loss makes 9 months feel like a whole a year but it's all worth it patience is the key

SRLaycock · 11/11/2021 11:31

@MissOrganisedMe Oh yeah we did!!! Sorry! How're you feeling?

@Tryingformylastmiracle Oh yeah you're 100% right, I'm a complete worry head anyway so will probably be anxious throughout until baby is actually here - just hoping that I can try to enjoy it a little bit too xxx

GinnyBee · 11/11/2021 11:36

Congratulations @SRLaycock ! Must be such a relief (for a few days) :)

Tryingformylastmiracle · 11/11/2021 11:40

@SRLaycock you will enjoy it the difference between us and everybody else is we always live room for just incase because we seen things most people haven't seen in their pregnancies

So impressed you haven't tested yet. I wouldn't be able to stop myself I don't think.

Try not to worry about age. People have had heathy pregnancies far later and I think the fact that you fell naturally means your body reckons it can cope.

Tryingformylastmiracle · 11/11/2021 12:20

@MissOrganisedMe believe me I will be 38 when mine is born I thought having my daughter at 35 was luck but this baby was literally one day off me being nughty didn't fancy the raincoat and there she was so there u go one time was enough so I'm starting to wonder the age thing I stressed for nothing because they tell us about how ur eggs and chances are getting smaller the older u get but soo far not the case

Tryingformylastmiracle · 11/11/2021 12:27

@MissOrganisedMe forget to tell you what u wanted to hear no we not the oldest ones I've googled it because I was also worried is my body capable of carrying this child and am I gonna gonna have enough time with her ofcourse we will but yes I know the feeling you feeling about age I went through that myself asking myself questions

SRLaycock · 11/11/2021 12:44

@GinnyBee Thankyou 😊 it really is a relief!

@Tryingformylastmiracle Completely agree, could not have put that better myself!

@OnceUponAThread Thankyou so much 😊
