Got a positive test but extremely worried

Hi guys. I had an early loss at 5.5 weeks last month and never got a period after. The bleeding stopped on the 20th of last month and I got a strong line (but not a dye stealer) on a Frer today. (This is new. I got a negative Frer a week ago with morning wee and took this test at 4pm).

I’m very worried because according to counting the first day of bleeding as cd1 this puts me at cd37. I don’t really have any symptoms apart from no period and being a little flushed in the face/a few more pimples.

Shouldn’t I have obvious symptoms and a dye stealer now? Or could I have ovulated very late? Like 10 days late? My cycles are roughly 30-32 days usually. Is this a sign of a chemical? I’m so scared. I keep seeing people get dye stealers or at least darker than this at cd25?

@Nicolelinda96
Ovulation could of happened l8r as a loss can mess up your cycle so I would say you probably ovulated late than you think, I have had 4 miscarriages and 1 cp and my cycles alway varied after each one.

Nicolelinda96 · 21/09/2021 21:48

I think this is the case. I guess I could’ve ovulated a week late, making me only just a little over 4 weeks, and this is a good line for then I think! I’m keeping everything crossed and will take another frer in the morning with fmu. Hoping that the line will be slightly darker.

My loss may have been a cp. not sure tho- can your ovulation be thrown off significantly by a cp?

Every single Frer I see at this stage is a dye stealer. It’s a chemical isn’t it?

How many DPO are you @Nicolelinda96? x

ButFirstTea · 22/09/2021 09:08

Are you tracking ovulation? If you don't know your ovulation date there's no way to tell what your tests should look like at this stage, and they can absolutely be thrown off for any reason really but definitely as a result of a recent loss.

Try not to test to often, every other day is best but once per day at a maximum, and take the test at the same time/same level of hydration so you can compare more accurately.

Blxo94 · 22/09/2021 09:10

I'm currently 17 weeks and 4 days pregnant, I have never had a dye stealer ❤️

I know your anxious and how it feels to worry being a loss mum myself, but that is a god strong positive pregnancy test. I wouldn't stress about tests. Some have more dye than others. I didn't get any symptoms of pregnancy until I was 6 weeks also. Take each day at a time.

Congratulations and good luck x

Nicolelinda96 · 22/09/2021 10:35

I got a slightly fainter test this morning. It took longer to come up and was fainter in the 3 minute window I’m sure. It’s only slightly different now they are dry but I’m convinced it’s a chemical. I’m broken.

It's impossible to know. My period took 6weeks to come back after my miscarriage so I definitely didn't ovulate at the same time as a normal cycle. Since you've not had a period it's impossible to say. I would wait a week and then test again. Try not to worry. I don't hold much stock in the lines getting darker as I took two an hour apart and had different strength lines. Good luck.

whoknew23 · 22/09/2021 10:55

I had a loss a roughly the same time and I was pregnant a month later .

I did have another bleed in between the loss and getting pregnant. I’ve never had a good line on a FRER which worried me but I have my baby sleeping next to me now .

At this stage unfortunately it’s a watch a wait, good luck.

Nicolelinda96 · 25/09/2021 10:13

This was yesterday’s at 4pm! I feel so much better now but I’m also tempted to get a less sensitive test to make sure I have a decent line on one of them as well?

@Nicolelinda96
Thats a dye stealer step away from the tests you will cause urself unnecessary stress congratulations 💚

Derbee · 25/09/2021 13:19

I would stop testing, personally. You will stress yourself out more and more. You’re pregnant. Just try and relax now. All you can do is wait and see. Testing won’t change any outcomes.

I know it’s easier said than done, but you’ll cause yourself so much stress with over testing.

GiantCheeseMonster · 25/09/2021 13:28

If you’re worried, ask the GP if you can have your HCG levels monitored over a week or so, and/or an early scan. There’s just no point obsessing over the colour of tests. There’s no correlation to the health of a pregnancy and it just drives you mad.

Echobelly · 25/09/2021 13:39

Don't overthink it. I had very few symptoms of pregnancy in the early stages, in fact in my first pregnancy, very little the whole time. It was a totally healthy pregnancy and I was just lucky - test line visibility has no relation to viability and lack of symptoms doesn't mean anything's wrong.

Congratulations, and wishing you a happy, healthy pregnancy...

Nicolelinda96 · 25/09/2021 14:46

I’m going to stop testing now. I don’t know whether or not to get bloods at the docs or not. I mean it might reassure me but it also might tell me that it’s not viable. I just don’t know.

One thing freaking me out is that my breasts haven’t changed. (Granted it’s super early still as my frer 8-9 days ago was negative) but last time they were visibly bigger, ached sometimes abs were firmer by about 4.5-5 weeks so that’s bothering me Confused

OP posts:
Derbee · 25/09/2021 14:58

Bloods at a GP will stress you out as well. Every pregnancy is different, even for the same person. It might be too early for breast changes. I KNOW it’s almost impossible, but I really think you need to try and relax

Derbee · 25/09/2021 15:00

I’ve seen threads here where people are having HCG monitored and panicking that it’s not rising as much as Google tells them it should etc.

Pregnancy is stressful, and the point up to your first scan is agonising (I know) but constant worry doesn’t make a more positive outcome

Nicolelinda96 · 25/09/2021 15:05

Thanks guys. I know I just really need to bide my time at the end of the day. It may not be the best idea to get bloods done because chances are I’ll worry about them too! It’s tough because I would have an early scan but I really have no idea how far along I am, so they may not see much anyway. I’m terrified of going to my first scan and having no heartbeat.

@Nicolelinda96
Try not to worry (easier said than done I know!) It's out of your hands whatever the outcome now so just try to stay busy and keep your mind off it until you get a scan. I'm 9 weeks pregnant with my second and so far it's been quite different from my first. Different nausea. Bad skin that I didn't have the first time. No boob pain at all even though they were very painful with my first! I haven't had a scan yet but I'm assuming I am still pregnant unless I'm told otherwise 😊

Nicolelinda96 · 25/09/2021 17:34

Working out from the first day of my ‘cycle’ (first day of bleeding during mc) it’s saying I’m 6 weeks?? Obviously I don’t know when I ovulated- that could’ve been a week or more late tbf. But I’m so worried because even tho I have a lovely dye stealer, I had a negative about 10 days ago. Does this indicate slow rising or low hcg or just abnormally late ovulation? Because I had symptoms at 4.5-5 weeks last time according to my cycle.

The anxiety is debilitating at this point.

OP posts:
peoniesandpastels · 25/09/2021 17:39

Try not to worry too much about symptoms. I'm pregnant with my 2nd and my early symptoms started later and were completely different with my son compared to my daughter.

Your previous loss could have impacted your cycle. The GP may be able to do some bloods for you to check that things are progressing. I know you're worried about the possibility of bad news, but it sounds like you're pretty worried anyway? And if the news is good, you may relax a little.

confuseddotcom1234 · 25/09/2021 18:06

I fell pregnant with my second straight after a miscarriage and the pregnancy was dated from the start of the miscarriage the same as it wild be from the start of your period if that helps. When I had my 12 week scan it was only out by 2 days.

Nicolelinda96 · 25/09/2021 18:12

Oh ok. Obviously if I’m actually 6 ish weeks then the sudden positive test after a negative is worrying no? A dye stealer is good for 6 weeks, sure, but I’m afraid that bloods will trigger me even more.

OP posts:
Nicolelinda96 · 25/09/2021 18:14

Also seeing as I had mild symptoms (mostly breast changes) at 4.5-5 weeks last time, and that wasn’t viable, doesnt having no symptoms indicate even lower hcg??
