I got a lovely dye stealer this morning and I am so chuffed! After a CP in July, seeing that beautiful first line so dark is giving me great hope.

Anyone else 5 weeks? How are you feeling? Flowers

It's horrible all the waiting isn't it. Is this your first pregnancy @SkaterChick

Lemonadee · 06/10/2021 18:18

@SkaterChick Ive had cramping consistently like my period is about to start but the midwife said this is very common as it's everything stretching and getting ready. Also I'm still very sick despite the bleeding (started Thursday-Sunday) seems to have eased off now and the midwife said that's a good thing as it shows you still have lots of pregnancy hormones, so that's positive even though it doesn't feel like it 🤮. One thing they asked me to do before EPU would see me is to take another pregnancy test.

SkaterChick · 06/10/2021 18:23

@Lemonadee yup this is my first pregnancy, I'm 31 and I came off my contraception 1st Feb this year.
I guess I'll monitor it and maybe call the self referral line tomorrow and see if I can speak to someone.
I don't know if I could face a preg test right now as I'm so anxious. my partner is working late tonight so I'm waiting for him to get home to talk it through with him

Snoopy28x · 06/10/2021 19:24

@SkaterChick I think at this stage spotting can be fine, it can just be baby nestling in better. Can you ring your local EPU? they would usually scan you and check everything is ok. Although actually possibly not until 6 weeks. I think theres not much to see Before that x

Snoopy28x · 06/10/2021 19:27

@Lemonadee glad to hear the scan went well! Do you feel slightly better now? It is such a crazy time, this is my 6th pregnancy now and it still shocks me to see that positive test. Then every twinge etc. Also I worry about will another child take away time from my other 2? Then the other night i was putting dd to bed and she strangely said night night new baby and patted my tummy?!?! Ds absolutely loves babies and is really good with them. I think 3 will be fine.. but hard work!! So nerves and anxiety I think are normal, it's a big life changer and it takes 9 months to sort of come to terms with xxx

SkaterChick · 06/10/2021 19:29

@Snoopy28x my local epu wouldn't see me until 6 weeks (which will be Saturday based on last period dates) and they only see you with a referral from GP, midwife, a&e etc
All this unknown as ive never been pregnant before is alot to deal with. I'm also struggling with the 'its different for everyone' and nothing being very certain!

Snoopy28x · 06/10/2021 19:31

@Blondiebrownie6 yes my spotting was only that 1 occasion last Saturday, just once. Hopefully that's the last of it! Haha yes DH is enjoying the extra affection!

Has your spotting stopped now? How are you feeling? I've been absolutely exhausted today, I just laid on the sofa most of the day, until I managed to get up and do an hour of house work before the school run. Its annoying because I like to be getting on with things and get out and about and I just dont have the energy for it!! X

Snoopy28x · 06/10/2021 19:36

@SkaterChick oh I'm sorry.. that is hard!! Here you can self refer to the EPU. can you maybe speak to your gp on friday and explain your worried. Lay it on a bit thick and I'm sure they will refer you.

Yes every pregnancy is so different. This one I've felt so sick. Previous pregnancies I've never had sickness or uneasiness. So most twinges, aches and pains and spotting is usually normal. So its hard to know 3what's really going on in there! Xx

SkaterChick · 06/10/2021 19:45

@Snoopy28x I've put myself to bed. Got a long day tomorrow. I work on my feet 9-11 hours per day. I never really know how long my days are going to be tbh so rest isn't much of an option until Saturday/Sunday.
I'll see how goes and call them Friday if I'm still spotting and worried.

Snoopy28x · 06/10/2021 19:51

@SkaterChick it could just be your over doing things or even a sensitive cervix. Like having a bowel movement can even cause spotting. So there are many reasons. Try not to worry.. early nights are the way to go. Get as much rest as you can xx

DC have me up at 6am, dd is asleep but ds is still going strong. Then I'm on the go all day with them then dh gets in at 5pm and I need to leave for college 6-9pm so Thursdays are busy!! I will be going to bed as soon as ds does xx

SkaterChick · 06/10/2021 19:56

@Snoopy28x yeah maybe, I did an exercise class last night (that I usually do weekly) I thinking I'll skip tomorrow though.
I'm a pastry chef but only started early August. So while I'm used to being on my feet all day it's also not been 2 months of it so my body may not be as used to as I think.
Wow busy day for you! I'm up at 5am for work so I'm used to the early wake ups.
Hope your ds goes to sleep soon so you can have an early one x

Snoopy28x · 06/10/2021 20:03

@SkaterChick ooh that sounds like an interesting job!! I bet that's tricky if your feeling queasy! Yes I mean growing a human takes alot of energy and does all sorts to your body!

I am so bloated tonight I look about 6 months gone! It goes back down by morning.

I hope you get some rest and try and take it easy tomorrow xxx

xxcharlottexx91 · 06/10/2021 20:04

Hi am 5 weeks 2 days pregnant but had quite alot of bleeding yesterday from 3am till about 4pm mostly when I wiped it slowed down then completely stopped at around midday today but it has since started up again but not as bright and not as much. I have not had any cramps or lost any clots. I am very scared and worried just wondered if anyone else has experienced this?? This is my 2nd pregnancy 6 months after my first

babyboybluex · 07/10/2021 09:24

@Blondiebrownie6 I’m still super queasy but not being sick yeah, it’s the worst! It seems to be really bad first thing in the morning, slowly eases throughout the day and then come night time, I’m back to feeling yuck.

I honestly feel for you, it’s really hard working and socialising with others when you just want to sleep. Have you got a busy day today? xx

@Lemonadee Yay congratulations! That’s great news. Completely normal to feel that way, it’s also hard to awknowledge what you saw in the scan as a baby as it is so small! Come your 12 week scan it will feel more real. I hope your sickness calms down!!

@SkaterChick How is the spotting today? It is scary but normally it’s innocent and ok. The fact you have symptoms such as nausea is promising! Take it easy, keep up the fluids and see if you can even have some time away from work? Thinking of you.

@xxcharlottexx91 Some women do bleed in early pregnancy and can bleed right up until labour for a numerous of reasons. The only way you can really determine what is happening is through an ultrasound (from 6 weeks at your EPU). Have you taken a pregnancy test to see? I know it is scary and you will be terrified but try and remain calm. Has the bleeding stopped today? Sending a big hug!

@babyboybluex still spotting, it's more of a brown discharge today and far less pink which makes me feel slightly better.
I've worn some ratty white pants to keep an eye on it 🤣 but it mostly seems to be there when I wipe.
Trying to take it easy today. Ive told work I've tweaked my back to avoid any heavy lifting etc. I'm mostly making croissant, pain ai chocolate and sausage rolls today so just stood there folding pastry which is pretty easy.

Anyone else constipated? Is this normal?! I'm usually quite regular haha

xxcharlottexx91 · 07/10/2021 10:03

It did stop but unfortunately I woke up this morning and it has started again but much worse this time. Its like a proper period with tiny blood clots. Tummy feels funny but I wouldn't say I've been in any pain.

Snoopy28x · 07/10/2021 10:22

@SkaterChick glad to hear it's just brown. Hopefully its settling down.

Your making me hungry all this talk of sausage rolls lol

Well I go from being a bit constipated to then it all emptying lol the hormones mess with your digestion to xx

Snoopy28x · 07/10/2021 10:24

@xxcharlottexx91 so sorry to hear your having bleeding. It is so worrying. Can you ring your gp and see if they would refer you to epu? Xx

xxcharlottexx91 · 07/10/2021 10:28

I have an appointment on Monday for a scan on epau it's just torture having to wait they wouldn't do anything else I suggested checking my bloods to see if my hcg has gone down but he declined to do that

Me too!! It's like two days of nothing and then three days of rushing to the loo and then the cycle starts again! I have a retroverted uterus apparently so I wonder if that makes a difference to digestive stuff. Explains why everything always went haywire IBS-wise around my period.

Hyggeandhugs · 07/10/2021 10:48

@xxcharlottexx91 I've got everything crossed for you that it works out okay for you. Even if the EPU won't see you, perhaps a midwife will speak to you? They were willing to speak to me when I was 5 weeks, even though I wasn't officially on their books yet.

xxcharlottexx91 · 07/10/2021 10:51

Thank you so much i asked to speak to a midwife but they put me through to a doctor. How would u suggest me getting in touch with a midwife? Because I so early on they said they wouldn't be able to see anything till 6 weeks that's why they r making me wait I looked into private scan but again they say 6 weeks.

SkaterChick · 07/10/2021 11:15

@Hyggeandhugs mine is inverted (I think, it was a long time ago they told me) and I would also get IBS ish symptoms around my period! So could make sense!
I have a private scan booked for 30th when I should be 8-9 weeks but it feels like forever away.

SkaterChick · 07/10/2021 11:19

@Snoopy28x they're not so appealing when you're piping raw sausage meat 🤣 thankfully it's not making me nauseas

Hyggeandhugs · 07/10/2021 11:26

@xxcharlottexx91 it's probably different in different parts of the country (I'm in Devon), but in my case the GP Receptionist gave me the phone number for the midwife team so that I could register with them when I was a bit further along.

As I'm at high risk of ectopic I rang them straight up, they booked me in for a 6 week scan and told me to ring back in a couple of weeks to arrange my booking appointment. But when I started having some spotting and upset tummy a week later I rang the same number and asked if they could just give me some advice and they were totally lovely.

The other thing the midwife did say is that 111 and GPs can sometimes bring forward scans... but again that might depend on where you live I guess. I really hope someone will be able to talk to you and give you some reassurance ☺️
