39 weeks here, how are you all staying sane during this time?
I feel so restless and impatient. Can't stop googling Labour symptoms and keep reading the same stuff over and over again.

Starting this one so I can read some new stories.

Aaaaaahhhh!!! Grin

For anyone still waiting/looking at induction
I posted a few days ago saying I was due to be induced due to broken waters

Saturday 10pm waters broke
Monitoring at Sunday 10am - nothing happening
Back in for monitoring and induction Sunday 10pm

Had a pessary put in at 1.30am Monday - I advise you to sleep as much as possible after this!
By 7am I was barely a cm and cervix still very long and posterior so pessary hadn't done much

Drip was started at 9.30am, we worked up very slowly. Their plan was to examine me 4 hours after getting to 4 contractions every 10 minutes. We kept almost getting there and seeing baby's heart rate dip or lose the monitoring so having to stop the drip, roll to my left and stay very still whilst they watched and waited.

By 5pm I was contacting every 2 minutes very strongly so had the epidural.

The tried to fit an internal monitor to baby's head at 7pm but couldn't mange it as I was still only 1-2cm

They started taking about going down to theatre and next options which really raised by blood pressure/heart beat

Lost baby's heartbeat on the monitor again at around 8.30pm - they tried the internal monitor or again and I was fully dilated! She just needed to move down the canal.

Baby born in 4 pushes at 9.58pm Monday
2nd degree tear but considering I spent half the day convinced I'd end in c section I was very pleased/relieved!

Hope this is helpful to anyone going through a long induction

@cottoncandyflossy haha I said to my partner last night what if I stay pregnant forever haha like this is some sort of weird joke!
Due date today - just going to to try and keep busy over the next few days!

Congratulations everyone whose bundle has arrived! My baby girl arrived on Thursday night by semi-elective section!

Went in for induction on Wed morning and after 3 lots of the pessary nothing was moving and I had been in constant pain pretty much since a couple of hours after the first pessary (turns out she was back to back). Made the decision on Thursday morning to just go straight to section and I’m so glad I did! Although it was technically classed as an EMCS it was such a lovely experience, I was completely at ease after being in pain for so long and my baby was out and on my chest less than 5 mins after they started! So for anyone anxious about having a CS please don’t, it’s nowhere near as scary as I expected - I was up walking around carrying baby about the ward by the next morning and home the next night Grin

Congrats @sken92 and @dirtyfries
My baby arrived yesterday morning, contractions started overnight after waters broke the previous morning, but then had to have an episiotomy as I couldn’t push her out, despite it being baby no 3! Baby is totally gorgeous and I’m hoping my scar heals up soon Blush

Congrats on the new babies!

Thanks for coming back to share. Enjoy the newborn bubble and hope you're all managing to rest and recover Daffodil

It's nice to see and get excited about the light at the end of the tunnel... still sitting tight here!

Hello, my baby boy also arrived yesterday 😍 he's absolutely gorgeous! Went on the drip and things happened fast, it was intense but only for a short time so perfect really.

Ava50x · 29/08/2021 01:08

Still very much pregnant here... Hope things start moving soon- for all of us! I'm so fed up.

ame88 · 29/08/2021 07:52

Congrats to all of the new babies!
40+1 here and no baby yet! I had some tightening/cramps last night so hoping it's a good sign and she is getting ready!

Darklava09 · 29/08/2021 09:23

@sken92 congratulations! Can I ask did they suggest the drip for you or push back when you asked for a section?

I’m worried if the peasant doesn’t work for me then they will push the drip which is something I don’t really want to have.

Mseddy · 29/08/2021 10:00

Congrats to those who have had their babies. Very much still pregnant here with zero signs!! Did all the old wives tales yesterday...curry, bouncing on my ball, long walk, sex. Nada!!! (Sorry tmi) Fridays sex did kick off a massive contrsction at the ahem "moment" and I thought we might have cracked it! But nothing since. DH didn't seem keen on making it happen every 10 mins or so to keep up the flow Grin

sken92 · 29/08/2021 12:25

@Darklava09 no the doctor was actually really good as that was my worry too! They never even suggested the drip, they said I could either try the balloon method, wait it out 24 hours with nothing or go for a section. I just felt by that point my body wasn’t for going into labour anytime soon and I was in pain so a section was sensible, they never even questioned it or asked for my reasons they actually went out their way to fit me in that day! I did find out later the surgeon was not long back from mat leave herself and had ended up with a section so I probably had her sympathy on side!

Good luck for your birth! Hopefully all goes to plan for you but just remember it’s your decision to make when it comes down to it

Darklava09 · 29/08/2021 14:01

@sken92 sounds really good. I’m glad you didn’t have to fight.

I have such bad SPD and have limited range of movement this time. I think I’ve only found around 2 ways I can give birth without it hurting my pelvis. My physio said it’s a really bad case and my worry is if I have the drip I’ll end up with an epidural which reduces my range of movement and likelihood of intervention which even my physio said could lead me up to have long term walking issues.

My plan is to try the pessary but if not I’ll be pushing for a section as I don’t want to I hire myself long term Blush just hoping I have understanding staff at the hospital.
