Someone suggested starting a thread for help/support/friendship & chat for Fran, this is what this thread is for & we hope Fran will come along to chat with us all

so, let me get this right, Fran's not posting on the other thread in order to preserve her anonymity... so we've started another thread called "Fran's support" but she is supposed to change her name so we don't know it's her.

So... if a heavily pregnant poster comes on here for "support" we're not supposed to think that it may be her?

I think I've spotted a flaw in the plan, here

Gibb · 29/11/2007 13:32

pmsl squonky

ScoobyDoo · 29/11/2007 13:34

Why does she need to change her name? can we not just support her through her pregnancy/birth etc & not get into the massive debate of the other thread, if people want to deabte the other thread then go ahead but this is not for that!

OP posts:
Camillathechicken · 29/11/2007 13:35

there is another fran support thread in news now too

fryalot · 29/11/2007 13:35

aaah!

I see

in that case, well done, scoobs

Kathyis6incheshigh · 29/11/2007 13:37

No, it makes sense to me! We can have an explicit support-for-Fran thread in which anyone can wander along and say nice things to Fran. If she wants to reply under her own name, that's fine.
But that doesn't preclude her also changing her name to something silly like the rest of us and posting on other threads as and when.

She just has to remember not to use her secret name on this thread

ScoobyDoo · 29/11/2007 13:37

I know i have just seen it, i did start this one first.

Only trying to be nice & offer support so sorry you all find it amusing & have to bring a downer on everything.

I only started the thread as someone suggested.

OP posts:
RinkyDinkPanther · 29/11/2007 13:37

I think that the point is that the other thread wasn't specifically a support thread, and people were getting upset by people asking questions etc. Fran doesn't need to remain anonymous if she doesn't want to. The new thread isn't to preserve anonymity, but provide a forum for her to talk and get support without all the other baggage, if she so desires.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 29/11/2007 13:37

x-posts Squonk!

ScoobyDoo · 29/11/2007 13:38

Sorry crossed posts with you squonk, now i understand what you were saying, i think i should have explained more, sorry for my rant just trying to help out

OP posts:
fryalot · 29/11/2007 13:38

scooby, I didn't mean to bring a downer to anything.

I was trying to be amusing, but isn't that part of being supportive as well?

fryalot · 29/11/2007 13:39

now I crossed posts with you two

I will go and make a brew

ScoobyDoo · 29/11/2007 13:39

I also put it in pregnancy & not in "the news" so we could come out of the news section & support through pregnancy.

OP posts:
Camillathechicken · 29/11/2007 13:40

i think it is better in pregnancy

ScoobyDoo · 29/11/2007 13:40

lol Sqonk no probs i understand now it's all fine & again i am sorry for ranting on

OP posts:
bossybritches · 29/11/2007 14:05

LOL.... at all of you are we all in agreement this the definitive Be-Nice-To-Fran thread??!

ScoobyDoo · 29/11/2007 14:06

Of course it would not be a normal thread if there was not a row about it at the beginning, we had to fit in with mn style you know

OP posts:
peatbogfaerie · 29/11/2007 14:21

Hurray! more over here. Poor Fran won't know where to look. Perhaps combine them all, MN Towers?

ChristmasShinySnowflakes · 29/11/2007 14:21

When you've all sorted yourselves out I will email Fran a link to the thread of your choice!

peatbogfaerie · 29/11/2007 14:22

Now stop bickering everyone and get some advice on here!

bossybritches · 29/11/2007 14:24

OK PBF I just posted over the page on the news thread !! Shall be C&P our two posts & delete thath one quick before it gets too lengthy??!

ScoobyDoo · 29/11/2007 14:25

Oh what a mix up, maybe we can bring the other posts over here, i think we should have a thread in pregnancy & not in the news lets get out of the news section now as this is for support through pregnancy, brith, mother hood etc, do you agree?

OP posts:
Kathyis6incheshigh · 29/11/2007 14:25

I prefer PBF's title but the topic that this one is under.

peatbogfaerie · 29/11/2007 15:22

I've cut and pasted the messages from the thread I started, how do I get that one deleted now???

---- (moved from 'In the News')

I'm really hoping this is going to be just helpful, practical support for Fran -- yes, I know she can get it off all the pregnancy and baby boards, but her situation is slightly unusual to say the least.

It's a bit early perhaps, but I wish someone had told me to have the following ready at home for the first few weeks (note they are mostly for you!):

  • lavender and t-tree oil to put in yr bath to help heal any stitches or tears.
  • Large packet of painkillers so that it won't hurt too much.
  • Kamillosan for sore nipples.
  • one of those lavender and wheat bags that you heat in a microwave - fantastic for sore boobs when yr milk comes in.
  • huge enormous super-super pads with wings (but just the normal ones, don't bother with special maternity ones)
  • Infacol for Molly, just in case she gets wind, but prob. not if yr able to b.feed

I'm sure lots of others will come up with more.
Hugs from London to you both

Good-oh threads everywhere!

Advice I was given & used (as opposed to the shed-load I didn't!!)

  • If anyone visits/phones/emails & says "anything I can do to help? " snap their hand off & give them a job starting with put the kettle on!

  • If baby sleeps take a rest /sleep yourself DO NOT start doing stuff to catch up. Later maybe when you're sleeping better & in a bit more of a routine but you need to rest to get good milk.

*If you have a freezer get a supply of "ping dinnners" in/made now so you can grab one out & stick it in the mwave on a bad day/in the evening when you're knackered & still have a proper meal.

*If you have loads of visitors wanting to come be firm & tell them to take turns as it's exhausting & it's more fun having them in fits & starts, for SHORT stays.Oh & tell them to bring their own duvets/pillows where possible as then you'll not have so much washing! (I realise for overseas visitors this may not be possible )

Loads more I'll try some later.

Thanks for doing this PBF hopefully it'll help other mothers-to-be not just Fran!

peatbogfaerie · 29/11/2007 15:25

OK, have used my limited initiative and clicked on exclamation mark and sent message to the Queens of MN Towers. Hope that's done it.
