Bleeding 4+5 and nothing on scan

Hi! I’m nearly 5 weeks pregnant and have had heavyish, period type bleeding for almost 3 days. Dull cramping but nothing major. Pregnancy tests still all showing a strong positive.
I was internally scanned today but they saw no signs of pregnancy :( this could be due to a miscarriage, possible ectopic or too early. Does anybody have experience of this and something showing on rescan a bit later?
They have done bloods today and a repeat in 48 hours and going from there.
They also told me during the ultrasound I have a heart shaped womb, ive never been told this before with my daughter but apparently from what ive read you can bleed from the side the baby isn’t growing on?
I’m clutching at straws and praying it will be ok but realistically with the blood loss I know I shouldn’t be. Does anybody have any similar experiences?

So sorry your going through this and hope everything works out for you it's still super early to c anything on scan, I have a heart shape uterus and have had 4 miscarriages and 1 cp so it's good to read a positive story of someone else with a heart shape uterus 💚

@Babyghirl I’m sorry to hear that too! I never had any issues with my daughter and was never told about it previously so had a shock today. I know it’s nothing to worry about as such but I have read there can be a correlation between it and early miscarriage.

I’m wondering whether I’m having a CP. how long did you bleed for with yours? Was it like a period? I’m just so confused and in limbo now waiting to find out. :(

Just like a norm period when I had my cp, I did pass a grayish looking clot that had vains running through it to so look out for that 💚

Hey @Lilybsx . Sorry you had an inconclusive scan. I'm in the same situation at the moment and waiting for my rescan on thurs. Do you know what your hcg in your bloods was today? They told me that the threshold to see anything in a scan is between 1500-2000 so this could be the reason why and you may be too early. Xx

@Babyghirl mines been about 2.5 days, trying to hold out hope but feel so sad :( hope you are ok xx

No they didn’t contact me with the levels today, they said they’ll let me know Thursday after the repeat bloods so I’ll have something to compare to. I’m so worried about possible miscarriage or ectopic. Much much wanted baby :( praying for you on your rescan! How many weeks/ days are you xx

I had the same many years ago, but at around 8 weeks. The day after the scan my doctor rang and said he didn’t understand as I had blood test to confirm pregnancy (as that’s what happened then). I asked him if it was possible that I had had a miscarriage and was told I would have been in considerable pain and there would have been a big clot type discharge. I didn’t have this, so presume I just wasn’t pregnant.

@Lilybsx I just keep thinking that nothing I can do will change the outcome so trying to think positively. I've had 1 MMC and 2 MC and 1 DS. I'm 5w3d today, I was 4w5d on my scan last week where they couldn't see anything. Xx

I had this, lots of bleeding like a heavy period. I had two mc before so was devastated. Scan showed nothing there & was told no chance of being pregnant as the uterus lining had gone but I continued to get a strong positive test. They then thought ectopic but at 7 weeks found a heartbeat and DD is now 5 💜

Hi ladies, I am in a similar situation, I am 5 weeks pregnant bled for the past week, Evan with a blood clot but no pains at all ! Not Evan a cramp.... have a scan tomorrow, wish you luck x

I never had any pain with my cp either was it an normal clot of a gray looking clot sorry ur going through this 💚

@Kaykaya877 @loppedoff I haven’t had any noticeable clots just heavy runny blood really, a bit like the first day of your period. If I hadn’t been ttc I would have assumed it was my period. It’s tapered off slightly this afternoon but still assuming the worst. I have read that bleeding in early pregnancy can be common with a heart shaped uterus also, so I’m just hoping it’s that and not a miscarriage x

Normally a miscarriage comes with severe pain, also the heart shape womb my sister has that ! In fact it's so so common and nothing to worry about I believe ! Also with you being early it can be too early to detect a pregnancy via scan but either way you will know for sure if you do have a re scan in around 2 weeks just remember yo drink plenty, best of luck hun x

Hey @Amypowel657 I haven’t had any pain apart from dull period type aches. Bleeding seems to have gotten lighter today too which is one thing. Repeat bloods tomorrow then a wait & see. Keeping everything crossed x

Hey I wouldn't worry too much, 5 weeks is too too early to see anything ! I am 6 weeks and had a scan today (internal) due to bleeding just like yourself and they just about saw the sac with the baby pea inside, stay strong and request a scan at 6 weeks hopefully you will see more then xx

@Amypowel657 so glad they managed to see something for you today and I hope it all remains positive. Sorry for asking but what has your bleeding been like? I’m worried I’ve miscarried but tests still showing very positive and I still very much have pregnancy symptoms. Xx

Not all miscarriages comes with pain I have had 4 mine only really been like a bad period and that's only on passing the sac so only really for an hour out of the whole miscarriage passing clots had no pain at all.

@Lilybsx I started bleeding a week ago (after sexual intercourse) it has ranged from dark brown discharge to red blood but mainly when I wipe or spotting on a panty liner (no pad required) Monday I even passed a very bloody blood clot after I wiped after a poop it had stringy bits which was so scary ! Best of luck I hope everything's okay for you try to stay calm and distracted till your next scan x

@Babyghirl it was a bright red blood clot with no other colours, I'm so sorry about ur miscarriages x

Could be just a clot that sometimes developes when baby attachs to the womb can't spell it thou lol, most of mine started with brown spotting to after sex aswell hope it's not bad news for u 💚

@Lilybsx scan went great ! It was an internal luckily they found the sack and baby I also got to see the heartbeat, feeling so much better and reassured now :)

@Babyghirl yes same ! Sometimes I wonder how safe is it really to have sex in the early stages of pregnancy.... I'm kinda scared to Evan go there now !

Hello OP, I have a heart shaped uterus and had lots of bleeding, clots, but never any pain in early pregnancy. My son is a belter 😊 it was the worst feeling in the world expecting the worst, but each time I was rescanned, there he was.

I was told by the EPAU that it is very common to have bleeding with septate or otherwise abnormal uterus, the side without the baby cannot work out what's going on! Mercifully I think it's a little easier with heart-shaped, as eventually the other side cottons on. I bled on an off up to ten weeks.

I should say, he did arrive early, which may have been caused partially by the condition, but there were other factors in play too.

I shall keep my fingers crossed for a positive outcome for you too.

@Amypowel657 that’s such amazing news I’m so happy for you & hopeful for myself.
@NotMaryWhitehouse it’s so strange I have a 4 year old daughter already and never had any of this with her, the shape of my uterus was never commented on however I had a very difficult labour due to her positioning so I’m thinking now this is probably why. I’m really hoping the bleeding is down to the uterus and not a miscarriage but I’m petrified of the worst and the future knowing about this. I’d rather have not known and been blissfully unaware like I was first time round lol. Nice to hear of somebody else with it that didn’t have many issues though! Xx
