Just that really! 39+2, waters started leaking last night, contractions started, went home and they eased until the early hours when they ramped up. Waited until they were 3 minutes apart and phoned the birth centre. Asked if I could hang on a bit longer so agreed to reassess in half an hour. 15 minutes later and we set off! Waters broke properly on the roundabout before the hospital and I knew I needed to push! Managed to hobble out of the car, pushed his head out on the zebra crossing and the rest of him came by the bus stop! Very thankful for a passing midwife who was on her way to work who was there and my gorgeous DH who was ready to catch him in his polo shirt!

What a day!

To be fair she did say I could go if I liked to be assessed but asked if I’d had paracetamol and a warm bath/shower. I said I’d done that earlier and that things had ramped up a lot pain wise. She did say I could come in but said I’d be better to wait until it was one after the other. We live 20 minutes away. The next contractions I could feel downward movements and that’s when we set off. He’s my second baby. I’d like to think a first time mum would have been told to go in sooner as it would have been even more scary!

Congratulations 🎉

@DobbyTheHouseElk

Amazing.

BUT,

Why were you on a zebra crossing. That doesn’t sound safe. The birth centre should have had you in there sooner. So pleased this has a happy result.

We were walking from the car park.

I'm so glad this ended well for all of you! He is absolutely gorgeous! Take care! You're going to have a great story to embarrass him about when he's a teen!

PurpleFlower1983 · 25/07/2021 22:22

And when I say walking I mean hobbling 🤣

Congratulations OP! Flowers

Congratulations, but crap care from the birth centre. They’d rather women give. birth unassisted in dirty conditions rather than woman come in slightly too early.

NiceTwin · 25/07/2021 22:27

What a fab story!
Congratulations Flowers

EffYouSeeKaye · 25/07/2021 22:28

(Please tell me you called him Buster) 😂

haveibeencaughtout · 25/07/2021 22:35

Lovely!

Sandles12 · 25/07/2021 22:37

Congratulations, well done!! Great story. I also gave birth on my sofa 3 hours after being examined and told I wasn't in labour! Had to drive home through strong contractions. Didn't actually know I was in labour til I felt the head emerge! When it's your first baby they seem to dismiss it as false! Luckily all went smoothly so to speak! Congrats again.

londonmummy1966 · 25/07/2021 22:37

A lovely boy and many congratulations but I second that it was poor service from the birth centre and I imagine that you must have been terrified at the time.

Are you going to call him BUSby?

uncomfortablydumb53 · 25/07/2021 22:39

Wow! Congratulations He is gorgeous

Pasithea · 25/07/2021 22:40

Awe. You have to call him Zeb. 😁

ItsVousNotMoi · 25/07/2021 22:40

Ah well done babe!
Love to know what they put on the birth certificate for place of birth!!

SmileyClare · 25/07/2021 22:41

He's adorable in his wee hat. Smile

I think you're half in shock and half elated Op! I had a very quick second labour and mine shot his head out on the hospital toilet after being told I wasn't ready to push!
I remember the adrenaline afterwards was overwhelming, I was very shaky and felt a bit high.

Take care of yourself and well done Flowers

MizMoonshine · 25/07/2021 22:41

TalkingOutYerArse · 25/07/2021 22:41
