Help am I going into labour?

Hi mamas, 41 weeks today.
Was suppose to go in for induction coming Tuesday. Aiming for Vbac as first baby was breach c section.

I woke up this morning with cramps, and they’re getting worse. Gone from mild period like cramps around 9.30am to un-ignorable intense cramps. They last about 10-20 seconds and are about 10-15 min apart. I’m feeling the cramps at the back first and it radiates to the front. I’m experiencing pelvic pain on the sides, intense lower back pain and ( sorry TMI) rectal pressure/pain. I’ve also had diorrhea throughout the day, and nausea that’s always present but worse during cramps.

No bloody show, no water breaking. Just intense cramps. My midwife tried to do a sweep on Friday. She said only 1.5-2cm dilated but cervix was still quite high up and not much effaced.

Does this sound like bad braxton hicks or the real deal?

At 41 weeks, it sounds like the real deal.

Give your midwife a ring to let her know.

Good luck!

Hi mamas, still no baby :(

My cramps started 9:30am and continued to increase in intensity. Around 5ish-pm I got really tired, drank some soup and managed to sleep. Surprisingly, they didn’t wake me up ( I would have thought that’s not possible). Woke up 6:30pm, and they’ve been building up again. Still no show or water breaking. I spoke to midwife - she said positive signs but to wait for show or water breaking.

I think I’m in the latent phase? But I’m wondering how long this can last? And is it normal for the cramps to seemingly start and stop ( like when I sleep).

Eek exciting. I’d get on your wellies and go for a little stroll around the block to see if you can get things progressing further. Mine was very similar, but a walk around broke my waters

Best of luck

cookiesandcreamm · 25/07/2021 19:18

Yep I agree with walking round, even some laps of your garden!

givememarmite · 25/07/2021 19:19

3 times I've only had a show and waters break whilst I was in full blown labour with babies arriving very soon after (like 5-15 minutes) so if you feel like the contractions are getting more intense and closer together call again.
Have you got an app to time contractions? I found that really helpful to update hospital staff on the phone and push me to go in.
Good luck!

Room4onemore · 25/07/2021 20:03

My waters never broke until well in established labour, only had a show once. Time them and if they more painful and longer lasting ring back. Good luck

daphnedoo12 · 25/07/2021 20:06

Good luck xx

ISeeTheLight · 25/07/2021 20:06

I'd agree with timing them. My waters didn't break until I was 10cm (whilst midwife was arguing with me that they definitely would have already broken). Proper water balloon splash like you get in films. All over her shoes Grin
Good luck!

@givememarmite
Yes I’m using Freya, earlier today they were happening 2-3, every 10min lashing ~45 sec.
Since nap that’s gone down to 1 every 5-7mim lasting about 55secs.

@cookiesandcreamm

Thanks for that suggestion ... my bodies craving movement and more aid, but I’ve been putting it off coz of the rain. Might just brave it at this point.

Craving more air* sorry not aid 😆

How are you getting on @user1490285009 ?

Noterook · 25/07/2021 21:17

I also only lost my waters and had a show whilst in active labour- around 7cm. Please make sure to go in when you feel you need to and when the timings are in range and don't wait for those, that's really terrible advice!

LauEli · 25/07/2021 21:43

My waters didn't break and I had no show, they broke my waters at 6cm he had meconium in.
I'd ring the hospital and let them know what's going on, they may ask you to go in to be checked over

user1490285009 · 25/07/2021 22:14

@givememarmite they’re getting even less now, maybe 1 every 10-15min for 50seconds.

I did go for a short 20min walk it at least helped calm me down mentally. Didn’t change the cramps etc.

@Noterook
@LauEli
Thanks for that tip. I’ll call in if the cramps come back more frequent and strong.

@user1490285009 how you getting on?

user1490285009 · 26/07/2021 12:17

@Room4onemore

Very sleepless night, cramps 50seconds 1 every 9min. Painful enough to wake me up every couple of mins so I didn’t sleep much.

Same rate this morning ...

My hospital notes do say to come in if latent phase is longer than 12h, but I’m hesitant as I feel like the earlier I go the higher the chances of a medical intervention.

I’m gonna try going for 1 epic walk...to try and push it along. And if that doesn’t work- I’m already booked for an induction tomorrow. But I’m hopeful (praying) something might happen between then and today. In the very least that I’ve had a bit more dilation and effacement since my check up on Friday.
