Best nappies?

Hi all! I'm only 26 weeks pregnant but been picking up bits and pieces and storing them so we're prepared. I got a voucher for a free pack of Aldi mamia yesterday so picked some up. Just curious on people's recommendations really! Pampers always seem to be the top brand when I google however are the cheaper brands just as good? Thoughts please 😁 x

I use boots own brand, they seem cheaper than a lot of other ones and we’ve never had any issues with leaks.

I buy them online along with the boots own baby wipes. Also if you sign up to boots parenting club you get double points on baby items.

Aldi is just as good as Pampers in my opinion

We used cheaper branded ones when little ones were little as you change them so frequently. The only time we opted for pampers was for overnight when it seemed wet nappies was the only reason for waking as pampers seem as though they absorb more I feel.

It really varies depending on the shape/size of your baby! I always used Lidl's with no problems, but found others said they leaked.
But I really do think the supermarket brands are as good as Pampers et al. You really are paying for the name.

Aldi beyond size 2 werent great for us… however newborn and 1/2 were really good. They did a premium range in our local up to size 4 but then they stopped…. These were really really good.

Dd wears pampers at night now, and rascals and friends for the day time (premium Tesco own brand) the sizing is weird though really really big.

I think it depends quite a bit on your baby actually. A tall skinny baby will want a different fit to a stocky chunk! For my babies I found that it doesn’t really matter for the newborn stage as you tend to change them quite often. I had private births so the hospital provided their nappies for the first 3/4 days and I have no idea what brand they even were. But once they were sleeping through the night I really rate Pampers Active Fit.

Both Aldi and lidl are great, and so much cheaper than pampers! Definitely worth trying out a few brands to see whats best fit for your Baby once its here.

Also, don't buy too many of any size, babies grow fast and one of my friends ended up donating 5 Packs to the food bank. Which is great for the food bank, less so for your wallet!

Aldi nappies have been great for both of mine.

If you're interested in more eco-friendly options but want to stick with disposables (and for newborn, I cannot imagine doing reusables!!) then Kit & Kin nappies are fabulous.

They are prob a bit more expensive than supermarket own brand, but we've never had a leak and our little one loves the animal prints.

You can do an online subscription so they turn up regularly, which is amazing as it's one less thing to remember. They do wipes and nappy sacks too, all biodegradable, so I guess 3 less things to remember!

I wouldn't stock up on too many of the same size / brand. Different babies do best with different nappies (due to how well they fit different body shapes and how heavy the baby wets / how explosive their poos are etc.).
You may find that a brand that works well for your child in say size 1 or 2 may not work well in the bigger sizes so it's not unusual to swap brands as the baby grows.

Completely agree with this. Didn't make any difference until t DD started sleeping through the night, and once she stared walking and crawling. Also I found pull ups weren't great overnight - pampers active fit every time

I second this - Aldi premium size 1&2 are brilliant. Aldi size 3 upwards weren't great for us so we switched to Lidl and they've been absolutely fine during the day. My main discovery though was nappy pants for overnight - they leak less than regular nappies as the tops are elasticated. As they're on for 10-12hrs too (hopefully!!) we splashed out on pampers nappy pants. So I'd recommend Aldi/Lidl nappies during the day and pampers nappy pants at night. We use Morrison’s brand nutmeg for through the day, found that Aldi and Nutmeg leak at night so we have pampers for that. He’s in size 3 now at 16 weeks.

Ones for months with no issues. Pampers were crap.

I work in a nursery so have tried them ALL! I’ll be buying Asda baby wipes as they’re really “juicy” really good for cleaning skin. I really rate Aldi wipes and nappies too, just as good as the more expensive brands. Sainsbury’s baby wipes in the purple packet are fantastic too really moist.

Stay away from pull ups altogether! I find both Pampers wipes and Huggies wipes soooo dry, they barely clean the skin and they break off in pieces or 10 wipes come out at one! Waste of money. Pampers nappies are the best “quality” they never leak but of course are very expensive.

Don’t bother with WaterWipes either, can’t get over how expensive they are! They are rubbish too, but I understand people buy them for sensitive skin.

I’ve also tried every nappy rash cream under the sun, nothing heals skin like Sudocrem!!

We use Tesco or Aldi own brand, never had any problems. We tried cloth ones but DS always leaked with them.

Oh and we use reusable Cheeky Wipes just with water too, they're really good.

Slim baby here and we have found Asda Little angels to be fab, fit well and never leak. He’s 9 months old now and I’m on size 4 and just as happy as I was when he started on size 1. A friend gave me some aldi ones recently, they worked fine and didn’t irritate but both me and my partner noticed you could smell the wee through the nappy after only half an hour which wasn’t pleasant. Asda seem to keep fresher. I tried Lidl when he was new born and they were far too wide and bulky and rubbed the top of his legs as a result, yet my sisters chunkier babies got on with those fine!

I use Aldi extra sensitive wipes they are fab and I’ve always loved them too. I don’t shop in Asda normally so just bulk buy nappies every month or so. I would wait until babies here before bulk buying as like others have said what suits some baby won’t suit another. X

Each have their merits.

The best thing you can do is try a few brands and see which ones work best for your baby. There is no one size fits all on this front.
I loved huggers but they had a load of bad reviews and stopped producing for UK, can get them at costco but very expensive. Moved on to pampers which were great, especially as they did very big sizes, our kids were above average. This time I've gone for asdas little angels, will see how we get on with them and change if needed. The supermarket own are pretty cheap so if they work out a better option than big brands for stretching the budget.

Huggies not huggers, stupid auto correct

I've tried a few and always go back to Eco by Naty, although they're a lot more expensive. I like Rascal and Friends too, as a PP mentioned. Never liked Sainsburys or Pampers but as a PP said it really depends on the baby's shape and size!

Newborn sizes (0,1,2), Aldi premium were great. Beyond that, other than the price, they're nothing special. Once baby can walk, I've found the branded nappies are better. I've preferred Pampers (baby dry cheaper, active fit expensive but amazing).

Tbh when they're little it doesn't matter so much. Mix and match as you like according to how your baby's skin reacts/if they leak/price. The only one I would never use again is Eco by Naty. They leaked every, single time.

We used Pampers for the first few months but then have tried Sinabsury's, Tesco and Lidl. I find Lidl just as good as Pampers and we've never had any leaks, cheap too
