Was on an antenatal thread today (hello April people) and gemprincess mentioned that a specialist had said something about there being a connection between hormones, SPD and the sex of the baby.

So out of purely non-scientific nosiness, if you've had SPD or have it and know what the sex of your bump is, could you tell me please?

1st pg - no SPD - ds
2nd pg - SPD - dd
3rd pg - twinges, but so far not as bad - ? (19 weeks)

TIA

SPD and it's a girl

pinkteddy · 26/11/2007 23:09

Spd and it was a girl.

KristinaM · 26/11/2007 23:09

a friend just had a baby girl after pg with SPD. None the first time with her DS

spottyshoes · 26/11/2007 23:13

sorry to muck up the seemingly aparant connection -

DS born April 07 - SPD from 25 weeks - fairly badly.

Most other people I know have had DS's with SPD too.

scampmum · 26/11/2007 23:14

SPD - girl.

I had it mildly with ds2, and looking back had some indications when pg with ds1 too.

Tovik · 26/11/2007 23:21

what is spd?

Orchide · 26/11/2007 23:30

I had it from about 17 ish weeks...off work from 22 weeks with crutches and unable to walk amy distance.. I had a girl

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 26/11/2007 23:30

none with first 4 pg's
spd no,5

think its more age/ no of pg's than gender

jamila169 · 26/11/2007 23:54

another bomb dropped on it!
ds1 twinges from 30 weeks
ds2 from 20 weeks
dd from 20 weeks
? from 15 weeks and the worst of the lot

I was in a wheelchair ftom about 17 weeks with ds1 - couldn't walk. Horrific indescribable pain.

With ds2 I had some pain but nothing on the same scale, and was able to walk until the end.

GreebosWhiskers · 27/11/2007 00:36

dd1 born 1993 - no SPD
dd2 born 1994 - no SPD
dd3 born 2005 - bad SPD from about 30 weeks
ds born 2007 - bad SPD from about 10 weeks & also a dodgy SI joint - damn near wound up on crutches.

KermitTheFrau I hadn't heard about SPD being linked to hair colour before - I'm a redhead too.

DS1 in 2004 - SPD from 16 weeeks (could not walk weeks 22-24)

Now 16 weeks - sex ? - had pain weeks 10-14 including SI joint this time - I'm resting so not getting worse.

Celery · 27/11/2007 06:37

SPD, and pregnancy in general, much worse with my one girl pregnancy. My two boy pregnancies were virtually identical to each other and much easier in every way.

IntergalacticWalrus · 27/11/2007 07:13

DS1 born dec 2004 - SPD from 25 weeks
DS2 born Sept 2006 - SPD from 15ish weeks

Having SPD and being a cellist is agony

Interesting about the red head thing - I have the ginger gene coursing through my veins.

moocowme · 27/11/2007 09:10

spd from week 12 - ds 2007
had fantastic osteopath who kept it under control.

sweetkitty · 27/11/2007 09:19

2DDs SPD from 15 weeks both times

spottyshoes · 27/11/2007 10:00

at the description Kermitthefrau.

I'm not a redhead

bobsmum · 27/11/2007 11:35

Kermit's description is spot on!

Hmmm...so the theory's not really holding up atm?

At a quick perusal so far:

Out of 26 mild and worse SPD pgs:

10 girl pregnancies with SPD
13 boys
3 suprises

That's not exactly conclusive then

Nbg · 27/11/2007 11:40

I think its rubbish but heres me

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 27/11/2007 11:49
