Was on an antenatal thread today (hello April people) and gemprincess mentioned that a specialist had said something about there being a connection between hormones, SPD and the sex of the baby.

So out of purely non-scientific nosiness, if you've had SPD or have it and know what the sex of your bump is, could you tell me please?

1st pg - no SPD - ds
2nd pg - SPD - dd
3rd pg - twinges, but so far not as bad - ? (19 weeks)

TIA

dd (first born) no spd
ds1 spd from about 34 weeks
ds2 spd from about 16 weeks.....i was in agony. That put me off baby number 4 from ever happening.

crutches didn't work and neither did the physio sessions or the maternity girdle

BettySpaghetti · 28/11/2007 20:45

DD -no SPD

DS -SPD from around 16wks (on crutches from around 34 weeks)

SPD from 16 weeks - DD

Pregnant with unknown bean, unknown number of weeks, already starting to creak

I'm sure they give out maternity girdles to try and weed out the fakers!!!!!! Have they EVER worked for anyone?? Pah

Emprexia · 28/11/2007 23:48

DS - SPD from 15wks

spotty! My chiro has told me that you have to wear the belts a lot lower than the instructions say, and when you're pregnant, wearing one for long periods doesn't actually work, when you take it off everything just goes back to where it was. He's advised me to leave it off unless I'm really in pain and given me some exercises which actually seem to work(I was sceptical at first because they are about working your inner thighs and lower buttocks, but they bloomin work!)

Don't know to what extent girdles work.
It gives me a better feel of my posture and I make more of an effort to keep everything aligned.
I found the only think that improves disconfort is putting your feet up for a few days.

DD : SPD from 22 weeks ( very bad )

had pain post delivery for about 7 months... but also prolapsed disc in back so difficult to say when i went completely as still in v bad pain with back ( DD now 11 months )

sb6699 · 29/11/2007 01:16

Hadn't actually thought of this before.

DS - severe SPD from about 26 weeks on crutches then couldn't walk at all.

Was told I would get it again with each pregnancy and worse HOWEVER last two pregnancies have been DDs with no SPD to speak of!

Glolly · 29/11/2007 14:16

DS - no spd pain
DD - severe pain from 30 weeks

FYI my osteopath - does this thing, it's a treatment only he does and it worked. I got up out of my wheelchair and walked back to the car (was more of a waddle really, I was six months pregnant ). I think it's bollocks but it worked for me.
