Re changing tables. We didn't have one and I don't regret it. Mat on the floor was totally fine. I'd say downside is that it's a bit uncomfortable getting down on the floor for a couple of weeks post birth but after that it was fine. Hubby helped me a lot. Maybe I'm just lazy but I couldn't imagine myself going up and down the stairs every time baby needed changed. Even less so with a toddler now.

We had our 20 week scan today and it's another boy! I suddenly feel super organised as hopefully I won't have to get much at all.

sociallydistained · 25/08/2021 22:37

My midwife got my 16 week appointment wrong so it was supposed to be this week now is next week. At my 12 week I was there at the doctors and she couldn’t see me as was running too late so that got moved to a weekend then she didn’t contact me as promised re: 16 weeks and I had to chase her, now this 🤦🏻‍♀️ Doesn’t fill me with much hope!

Luckily my 20 week scan was booked at my last scan and thats on the 9th September.

Re: pregnancy pillows. My DP got me the aviator one from Amazon weeks ago and I have been loving it! I can’t live without it now 🙈

@BobbleWobble1 lovely news re having a boy! Thank you, I reckon I'll try the floor with a mat too first, I've always found it easier on the floor when babysitting also

expectinglittlebear · 26/08/2021 09:23

@BobbleWobble1 Congratulations on your little boy!!

@spttc I haven't started buying too much yet, although since our gender scan on Sunday, we did pop into a shop afterwards and get a few pink things, and we also decorated the nursery yesterday!! Other than that, all we have got so far is a baby bath, some cellular blankets and a handle of clothes. We have done a lot of decorating/gardening work on our house this month, as we only moved in a couple months ago, and trying to get the house how we want it before I get too big to do anything haha! So just patiently waiting for payday next week, so we can then start to buy baby bits!! So excited, now we know the gender, it has all become a bit more real, I also seem to have 'popped' the past few days too, and have a definite bump now!

I saw a few of you mention pregnancy pillows, which would you all recommend the most?? I am usually a back or front sleeper, but since about 11-12 weeks, I have been trying to side sleep to get myself used to it for when I get too big and can't sleep on my back. But the past couple of weeks I have really been struggling. I have a pillow between my thighs, but my back and my hips have been KILLING me! Waking up several times in the night, not only for a wee, but also because I am so uncomfortable I am having to readjust position. Sad What would you recommend??

I decided to get the bbhugme pregnancy pillow. Arriving tomorrow so will review when I can!

spttc · 26/08/2021 13:51

Ah @Trinacham be interesting to see what you think of it. I'm trying to like it but I think It's making me too warm. I think il like it more when the weather is cooler.

Anyone else who does get the bbhugme pillow..... code...173 gets you money off if there's no better code going!

spttc · 26/08/2021 13:53

@expectinglittlebear you're way way ahead of me then 😂😂🙈 we don't even have a room available for the nursery. We're having an architect in to do drawings for an extension and we might try throw one up before baby comes. If not our home office is getting emptied! 😅

expectinglittlebear · 26/08/2021 14:00

@spttc To be fair, we knew the second we would get married (June 21) we would be having a baby - turns out baby was actually conceived in early May, so we were a bit ahead of the game haha! So in preparation, we put our smaller house (a small 3 bed) on the market end of last year, to also make the most of the stamp duty break, and eventually moved in to our 'family home' (a big 4 bed) mid May. So thankfully we technically have two potential nurseries.. So future baby no. 2 already has a place to go haha!!

Ooh that's exciting, hopefully the work will all be completed before baby gets here! & hopefully the work doesn't go on too long, that's the last thing you'll want when heavily pregnant and trying to relax!

thecapitalsunited · 26/08/2021 14:19

I thought I wasn't going to be able to have children (3.5 years and nothing) so I converted what was going to be the nursery into a home office in an effort to be happy with what I had. So baby will have our spare room which will limit guests. You win some, you lose some I guess!

I've made a start on crocheting a baby jacket. It will probably be a bit wonky because I'm not that great at simple things like blankets but it's making me productive.

spttc · 26/08/2021 14:20

@expectinglittlebear yeh we've been in our house since 2011. And since then have been traveling etc and we were never 100% on having kids. It's a little cottage and we always meant to extend ....but didn't 😂🙈 we own a building company so we do at least know we will have a labour 👌 It's just a case of planning it 😅 My husband insists if we start it in October it would be done by end of nov..... it will be disruptive. But I'd definitely prefer the disruption now and not when we have a small baby. If we don't do it now we will end up putting it off until baby number 2.

Very jealous of your new house with 2 potential nurseries 😂😍😍😍

Trinacham · 26/08/2021 15:24

I get warm in bed so we'll see how I like it 😬 managed to get 15% off from Jojo Maman Bebe (code RTN15B) and then another 12% off using my workplace's employee discount, so £40 off altogether. I am mad about money saving so was chuffed about that!☺
spttc · 26/08/2021 15:38

@Trinacham ah do you work for Jojo Maman Bebe? Im asking cos I tried ordering stuff off their site and it wouldn't allow me to it so weird. Was gona ask are they still operating in Ireland or did they pull out with Covid etc. I'm on an Irish pregnancy group and everyone is trying to figure it out 😂

Trinacham · 26/08/2021 15:50

@spttc no, I don't work for them. My workplace just have a discount scheme and a lot of the usual high street shops are included, and some not so familiar shops!

spttc · 26/08/2021 17:14

@Trinacham ah cool 😎 nice 👌👌

SouthwestSis · 27/08/2021 06:06

Anyone else suffering with disturbed sleep? Have been awake since 4am despite only falling asleep at 10.45pm and having nothing to get up for today!

Tangfastic91 · 27/08/2021 06:51

@SouthwestSis that was me in the first trimester! Seems my body finally realised it could do with more sleep in the second though. Hope it's temporary for you!!

@expectinglittlebear thanks for putting that list together. I am adding a boy to the pile Grin super excited as I've heard boys are a bit easier and thinking about teenage girl me I would be inclined to agree haha

Hope everyone is well!

expectinglittlebear · 27/08/2021 08:55

@SouthwestSis Yes definitely, can't remember the last time I had a full nights sleep. Either I am up in the night to wee, or because I need to change position or sometimes just waking up for no apparent reason. If this keeps up I may have to add the 1st trimester naps back into my day to catch up on sleep haha!

@Tangfastic91Aww congratulations lovely, how exciting!!, I will update the list!!

hello. can i be added to the list too. expecting a girl due 31st. thank you

Kayl23 · 28/08/2021 10:09

@SouthwestSis Yep I've been having very disturbed sleep and also very strange dreams, even a few nightmares which have been awful. I don't think I've had a nightmare for about 25 years until now! 😂

has anyone else been having strange dreams? I've also had a couple where I've dreamt about going into labour then woken up in an absolute panic!

SouthwestSis · 28/08/2021 10:27

Welcome @Bells3032 and congratulations!.

Yes vivid dreams for me too but no labour dreams yet thankfully!
Sure I will have no trouble sleeping after my shifts at the hospital thus weekend!

BobbleWobble1 · 28/08/2021 17:18

My sleep has been dreadful throughout this whole pregnancy. No particular reason, I don't get up to pee or anything, just awake for no reason and start the day shattered. I had this with my first but it was only a few weeks at the start and at the end so I've now given up hope of any improvement. It's a shame as I know I'd feel so much better if I could just sleep better at night.

babyyy1926 · 28/08/2021 20:59

Has anyone been getting numb arms? I keep waking up in the night with no feeling in my arms. Sometimes its just the one arm but have had it in both. Even if I'm not laying on them. I've never known anyone have this as a pregnancy symptom but have never had it before being pregnant and it started a couple of weeks ago and its really disturbing my sleep

Flowers222 · 28/08/2021 21:46

@babyyy1926 I can't say I've had this myself! I did know someone who at night got numb arms and hands sometimes and was told it was because of where baby was laying, which was right at the back near the spine and it was pressing on some nerves which was causing it. Maybe it's that. But if you are worried maybe it's worth having a chat with your midwife.
