Is this name too safe?

… it is Jack. DH’s dad’s name and we do both love it. But I’m scared it might be a bit too ‘safe’ and maybe a tiny bit boring?! What do you think?

I also like:
Louie
Alf/Alfie
Jake
Frankie (not 100% on this)

DH is quite fussy with boys names! If you think it is boring, have you got any other suggestions? We had our girl name nailed on but found out we’re having a boy yesterday Grin which I’m ecstatic about, although it’s back to the drawing board for names!

Jack is a really lovely name, to me Louie or Louis are both equally wet in style, but I think Alf is also nice.

What does wet in style mean exactly @HappyTimeTunnelDinosaur?

Louie is higher on the top 100 baby names than Louis according to Bounty.com, not that I really care. I love the name, but we're all entitled to our own opinion.

I did say to me @ShutUpaYourFace , actually I'm not sure why it seems that way to me, it just does. Cecil and Lesley seem similar to me too. I know it's popular, so obviously many do like it but op asked for thoughts.

ShutUpaYourFace · 15/07/2021 11:32

Just wondering what you meant by wet!

Jack is also top of our list for a boy (we don’t know what we’re having) but I’m worried it’s so popular! I’m 20 weeks and I’m assuming you’re about the same as you’ve just found out, plus PP who is also due in December and has Jack at the top too! I also really don’t like Jackson/Jaxson and don’t want people thinking that would be their full name.

Jake (Jacob) is also on our list too Blush

Other names that I like are:
Alex (Alexander)
Nate (Nathaniel) - DH doesn’t like though
Issac
Henry (but in the family already)

Thanks for the responses everyone. I definitely feel more confident in our favourite after reading the general consensus 😊

I know not everyone can agree or has the same taste so that’s fine!

Hopefully we won’t have another boy as we struggle so much with boy names 😂 but we’re both feeling like Jack is right!

His middle name will be Paul by the way, which is my own dad’s name.
