Hey ladies, thought I'd start a thread for all us mamas due October 2021! Whether you're on your first or your tenth child, let's share our journey together!

My due date is officially 8th October and this is my second baby girl πŸ’œ My DD is 15 months old so I'm gonna have two under two.. god help me πŸ™‰
I'm actually booked in for an elective section this time (reason being is that I have low grade rectocele prolapse and I'm petrified that another vaginal birth will make it worse) my first labour was 4.5 hours from start of initial contractions to birthing her - textbook waterbirth on paper pretty much. I am however starting to reconsider my decision and go for my original plan of a homebirth. DH has just landed a new job only 15 mins away so it changes a lot. Any other ladies looking to try for a homebirth? I know for me personally it takes a lot of the strain off finding childcare, given how quickly I laboured first time round!

Cant wait to hear your stories and share these last few months of our pregnancies with each other! ❀

Just to add, maybe the hormones but having this forum has really been a help to me. Just to feel I have somewhere to vent or turn to! So thank you ladies for the past god knows how many months! Very excited for all of us to get our arrivals whenever it may be

mooloop · 19/10/2021 19:50

@Juicytoot287 hahaha my mum is the exact same! Even though my brother was a due date baby and I was 1 day early, I keep reminding her that although daughters sometimes take after their mums I am actually a different person to her so may well go overdue πŸ˜‚

And yep I agree it's been so nice to have other women in the same boat on the same timescale to chat to. I have some pregnant friends but it's not quite the same as being able to talk to/rant with other women who are at the same stage as you. And now it's so lovely hearing of the babies arriving!! Smile

MyGrassIsBrowner · 19/10/2021 20:03

@Juicytoot287 god I know right.. I was fully convinced she wasn't going to stay put but I'm so glad she did. Would have been a totally different story had she decided to make an early entrance πŸ˜†

So glad you've found this thread comforting. It's why I created it tbh and it's been a god send being on this journey with you all πŸ₯° I do keep checking back for updates when I get 5 mins to myself each day hehe. Xx

@MeadowHay the pain on breastfeeding could be thrush. I had it with both dc. Last time I got antibiotics for it but this time I reduced my sugar intake and the pain subsided. It may also be your nipples getting used to breastfeeding because at first mine were bleeding and got little sores on them whilst she sorted out her latch! The pain was like sharp needles on every feed for nearly a week. Horrible. So I know how you feel!

Hungryinthefridge · 20/10/2021 23:40

*Reducing sugar intake works because the yeast in thrush thrives on sugar, so you need to cut off their food supply!

Morning ladies. The hip pain and pregnancy insomnia have hit me today - been awake since about 4am and gave up trying to sleep at 5. DDog is very unamused at being woken up at this hour Grin

9 days til my due date and increasingly keen to meet this little baby now. Hope everyone has a lovely day and that we get some more babies on this thread soon! πŸ‘ΆπŸΌ

Juicytoot287 · 21/10/2021 07:13

Morning ladies,

Been asked to go in for an induction today as we had reduced movements. Feeling very uneasy about it and terrified to be honest as she is back to back and everything. DP has to start pat leave now too which isnt ideal. I considered refusing but it would be going against medical advice now which I wouldn't forgive myself for god forbid something was wrong. She was fine on monitors but as I am 39w today, they thinm she is better out than in.

:(

MyGrassIsBrowner · 21/10/2021 09:54

@Juicytoot287 I'm sure little lady is fine, they like to keep us on our toes. But if they think it's best she's out, then go with it! Couldn't you opt for section or would you rather go down the induction route?

OP posts:
Juicytoot287 · 21/10/2021 09:57

@MyGrassIsBrowner Yeah thats it, they didnt even mention a section because of tbe increased risks and stress. Think medically they alwaya prefer induction

MyGrassIsBrowner · 21/10/2021 09:57

@Juicytoot287 also, my DD was back to back, I had a 4.5 hour labour! So all labours aren't necessarily long with BTB babies. I must say though with you only being 39 weeks I'd be more tempted to go for a section off the bat if that's an option they're giving you! X

mooloop · 21/10/2021 10:13

Oh @Juicytoot287 bless you! Sending positive vibes to you and baby. Not ideal but you'll soon have your baby in your arms ❀️ let us know how you get on, I'll be thinking of you today! X

NW2021 · 21/10/2021 10:25

@mooloop I had the exact same night sleep!! Pregnancy insomnia hit me last night, couldn’t get to sleep till 1am then up at 4am then had to nap again. I dunno if you believe this type of stuff but it was a full moon last night and I’ve read it can mess up peoples sleep! Either way I’m knackered today πŸ˜‚

@Juicytoot287 how exciting!!! I know it might not be the situation you want but you’ll get to meet your little one so soon!!
I know it’s so so easy for us to say it’ll all be fine but try keeping those happy hormones high it’ll help.
If she’s fine on the monitor could they monitor a bit longer rather than induction? Ask if they’re any other options for you?

What ever happens sending you lots of positive vibes and little one will be here so soon!!! 🀍

mooloop · 21/10/2021 11:33

Ooh maybe something in that @NW2021 πŸ˜‚ I ended up going in the bath at 6.30am to help my sore hips πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ and then managed another hour of sleep.

Just back from seeing the midwife - induction has been pre-booked for the 11th November just in case I need it Shock hopefully not but I do feel mentally a bit better knowing there's an end date in sight. MW thinks baby has spun himself round to anterior from being back to back too so I hope he stays that way! Smile

Peacefulspirit · 21/10/2021 11:47

@Juicytoot287 good luck. You can decline induction if you want to. Saying that at 39 weeks you might only need a gentle nudge in the right direction. My only regret from mine is that I didn’t have the prostin and went straight for an ARM, I think sometimes, especially at 39 weeks a bit of prostin is all that’s needed to get things going and your body takes over naturally. Trust yourself, your body and your instincts. You’ve got this xx

Juicytoot287 · 21/10/2021 12:23

@Peacefulspirit What is Prostin and ARM sorry so confused? Any advice welcome to make this easier!!

@NW2021@mooloop@MyGrassIsBrowner Thank you all. I did ask if I don't have it but then it is daily monitoring and they insisted they think this is best as reduced movement could indicate she is conservinf energy and therefore better out than in. It felt as though now I would have to go against medical advice and I am not a professional. I wouldn't forgive myself if I didn't do it and something was wrong. She is movin better today funng enough but yesterday was 100% off no doubt. Hard to know the right thinf to do

MyGrassIsBrowner · 21/10/2021 12:34

@Juicytoot287 have they given your cervix a check yet hun? They'll be able to determine how successful induction will be. If you're a couple of centimeters already then you might just need something to get it really going. If your cervix is closed though do be prepared for it to potentially be drawn out. Not wanting to scare you by the way just make you aware, they should be informing you of all this though as induction is not always an easy route. Xx

OP posts:
Juicytoot287 · 21/10/2021 12:51

@MyGrassIsBrowner They have said to prepare for 4 days min as I am FTM and it can be a long process. But they haven't checked my cervix or anything yet. They said they will do that when I go in today. Got my bags packed up with some entertainment though ready.

The benefit - cleaned the house today and made sure it was ready for my return. Just need DP to not mess it up!

Peacefulspirit · 21/10/2021 12:54

Hey lovely. Prostin is the drug they use to soften the cervix, usually given as a pessary or gel into the posterior part of the vagina. It helps ripen the cervix and soften it so you can have an ARM (artificial rupture of membranes/break your waters) but at 39 weeks the prostin alone is often enough to tip the body into spontaneous contractions.
I was in a a similar place in terms of how I felt about induction, I was induced for static growth but realistically it was probably inconsistent measurements. It’s such a tricky place to be. Induction doesn’t have to be awful, you are still able to make decisions about how things go and can decline/request anything you feel strongly about.

MeadowHay · 21/10/2021 12:58

Hope luck @Juicytoot287. Im sure I'd make the same decision in your shoes. I would try your best not to worry - it could be long and difficult but it very well may not be. And lots of people who have later spontaneous births have a horrible time of it anyway like me hah so there's never any guarantees. Wishing you all the best for the safe arrival of your little one. Also ARM is artificial rupture of membranes - having staff breaking your waters for you to try and induce labour. Prostins is the hormone they use to try and induce labour, usually via pessary.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 21/10/2021 13:04

@Juicytoot287 I have absolutely everything crossed for you that your induction is a quick and easy one! Just remember to listen to what your body is telling you! And dont be scared to ask for pain relief when you need it, you dont need to be a marytr! Just think, you're going to have bubs in your arms soon! So exciting 😊

OP posts:
NW2021 · 21/10/2021 13:16

@Juicytoot287 I agree with @MeadowHay id probs go down the induction route with the info you’ve been given! 39 weeks you’re basically there anyway! You’ll just get to meet baby a little bit sooner which is so exciting!

Good to know about the options with induction! You can still be in control of your labour and options then.
Very excited for you! Good luck, you got this πŸ’ͺ🏻 Xx

mooloop · 21/10/2021 16:10

Just adding @Juicytoot287 I think I'd go for the induction too with the advice you've been given.

It's not always an awfully long process, just to pass on some positive stories in case they help, my mum was induced with a pessary 30 years ago around early evening and my brother was born the following morning. SIL was also induced early evening (at only 37w) and my niece was born the following morning Smile I also have a friend who just had ARM (no hormones used) one afternoon and baby came in the early hours of the morning too.

Hope you and baby are both ok Thanks

Juicytoot287 · 21/10/2021 17:34

Thanks everyone! Pessary is in so just waiting now to see if it worked :)

MyGrassIsBrowner · 21/10/2021 19:55

@Juicytoot287 eeek good luck!!! ☺

The pain is not nice! Have opted to go for a bath currently as the tablets aren't taking the edge off. Not sure how I can last 4 days of this potentially or even the full labour to be honest! Hats off to you mothers already. Have to say midwives are lovely and helpful.
