Hey ladies, thought I'd start a thread for all us mamas due October 2021! Whether you're on your first or your tenth child, let's share our journey together!

My due date is officially 8th October and this is my second baby girl πŸ’œ My DD is 15 months old so I'm gonna have two under two.. god help me πŸ™‰
I'm actually booked in for an elective section this time (reason being is that I have low grade rectocele prolapse and I'm petrified that another vaginal birth will make it worse) my first labour was 4.5 hours from start of initial contractions to birthing her - textbook waterbirth on paper pretty much. I am however starting to reconsider my decision and go for my original plan of a homebirth. DH has just landed a new job only 15 mins away so it changes a lot. Any other ladies looking to try for a homebirth? I know for me personally it takes a lot of the strain off finding childcare, given how quickly I laboured first time round!

Cant wait to hear your stories and share these last few months of our pregnancies with each other! ❀

Good luck ladies with sections this week, how exciting! Hope your pre-op goes well today @Chameleon2021!

Re work, I went on mat leave a few weeks ago at around 36w - well, annual leave, my mat leave technically begins today. I only get SMP, but planning to take about a year off and go back early Sept next year. Have DC2 already signed up to DD's nursery to start late August 2022 as the baby room often has waiting lists of up to 1yr. Almost 39w here, mad.

I think I've lost parts of my mucus plug as well yesterday in two separate parts. No blood though so it doesn't mean anything like. I didn't see any of it until I was already in labour last time after all so no real rhyme or reason to that is there. DD is much better from her cold thankfully so that's one weight off my shoulders but DH is still no better. He's at work, so he's managing but gosh I hope I don't labour before he's well eek. He's not had a covid test as he hasn't had a temp or cough but his asthma was bad in the night and I'm worried he's going to develop a cough as he often does and then he just wouldn't be able to be with me if I went into labour which is so scary. I do have a friend lined up as an emergency birth partner if it came down to it but obviously that's not what I want at all! I need to speak to her about some practicalities tbh like would I be able to contact her if it was the middle of the night and so on.

Also my pay cheque for September is less than I was expecting and has no mention of SMP which is a huge worry, I emailed work on the weekend and one of the HR heads has got back to me today just to say they've passed the query to their payroll provider (as pay is outsourced) and they'll get back to me. Not reassuring so just another bloody stressor.

Anxiety through the roof today tbh Sad

MyGrassIsBrowner · 28/09/2021 11:16

@Chameleon2021 good luck today hun!!!

I went to the midwife this morning for my BP checks and she felt baby and said oh my god shes low! Basically I can barely walk now it literally feels like she's going to fall out. I've had two loose bowel movements this morning too (sorry tmi)

To top it all off my mums tested positive for Covid and I was with her last week. I've taken two LFTs, first one was positive, second one was negative. So gonna have to do a PCR. I literally feel like everything is going to shit.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 28/09/2021 11:19

@MeadowHay Oh shit sorry you're having a rough time of it too love. As for mucus plug, if its pinky or is streaked with blood it's likely you're on your way. I've had increased discharge and I'm now having some pulsating in my lower back, fuck. DP has had so much time off work for me I swear they're gonna sack him. But tbh I couldn't give a toss right now I'm not in the mood for it. Safe to say I'm with you, anxiety through the fecking roof right now! Arghhhh!

OP posts:
Chameleon2021 · 28/09/2021 12:00

Oh shit, a positive LFT is not what you want 😭😭 My friend at work had two positives though and then the PCRs were negative so fingers crossed.

Pre op was a bit rubbish as noone could actually see me πŸ˜‚ just got some tablets to take on the day and they did bloods. So basically the same as any othet appointment.

Keep us updated @MyGrassIsBrowner 😩

MyGrassIsBrowner · 28/09/2021 12:14

@Chameleon2021 did you have an MRSA swab or anything? That's ridiculous that no one could see you, how anticlimactic! πŸ˜†
Did they say what you needed to do/not do the night before?

Oh dont... I'm so stressed now. If baby doesn't come on her own I swear my labour will be stress induced haha!
Problem is, I feel a bit fluey but then again you can get that before you go into labour. My Braxton Hicks today are intense as well but it's definitely not full blown contractions yet.

OP posts:
mooloop · 28/09/2021 13:35

@Chameleon2021 can't believe nobody could even see you! Proper anti climax haha.

@MyGrassIsBrowner @MeadowHay oh gosh not what either of you need right now! I can totally understand the stress/anxiety Sad

As far as work goes, my last day is next Friday when I'll be 36+6. I then have annual leave until 1st Nov (but of course mat leave will kick in if baby comes sooner).

Speaking of which, I called my midwife this morning as I was worrying a bit about my next appointment being at 36+5 and then presumably being sent for a scan well into week 37 to confirm if he's breech if the MW still thinks he is. She was absolutely lovely about it and moved my appointment forward by a week, so I'm seeing her this Thursday instead of next Thursday and she said if I need a scan it would likely be next week. Feel a little bit better that the wheels are in motion now and I hopefully won't have to wait as long to know what will happen!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 28/09/2021 13:43

That's brilliant @mooloop. At least you'll be able to come to terms with whatever delivery method will be needed sooner rather than later.
I can totally feel the difference now with babies position. Mine has been transverse/oblique for months, now she's head down and jesus it hurts. It hurts more than her being breech strangely! The only worry with breech is chance of cord prolapse if you go into spontaneous labour so make sure you're monitoring any changes in movements or pains etc! X

OP posts:
MyGrassIsBrowner · 28/09/2021 13:43

Sorry, meant to say it hurts more than her being transverse, lol.

OP posts:
Juicytoot287 · 28/09/2021 13:49

@mooloop excellent news. You are on a similar time scale to me now. Have my appointment today. She wants me to have a scan regardless as she doesnt want to mistake bum for head so she is probably booking one in to confirm position. I am glad though, I know of people who go into labour and last minute see they are breech so this way no mistake taken!
Hopefully for both of us, babies move! Althouhh strangely I am coming to terms with c section and actuallt almost comforted by it.. hmm. Just be glad to know one way or another like you!

@MyGrassIsBrowner oh my goodness! When is your PCR. Hope it comes back quickly and negative for you. Just remember what will be will be, and try and stay as calm as possible. Does seem to be all at once for you lately

MyGrassIsBrowner · 28/09/2021 14:31

@Juicytoot287 honestly, this is how life normally rolls for me, all or nothing. I've just had a real shit pregnancy this time and going back a month or so ago I was really positive and excited about my section and now I'm so stressed out and just want it to be over so I can start the road to recovery with my bubs earthside.
Sorry, I dont mean to be so negative, I hope you ladies are having a better time of it than me right now!

OP posts:
Chameleon2021 · 28/09/2021 14:35

I had my mrsa swab last week. Today they literally just did bloods and gave me somr anti sickness and some antacid.

Have you booked a PCR @MyGrassIsBrowner?

Im going to wash all my bedsheets, set up the next to me and then recheck my hospital bag this afternoon πŸ˜‚

mooloop · 28/09/2021 15:02

@Juicytoot287 I feel the same, I feel like I've sorted of processed it in my head so now if they say he's turned and I can wait it out for a natural labour I'll be stressed about that instead πŸ˜‚

MyGrassIsBrowner · 28/09/2021 15:35

@Chameleon2021 Ahhh right! And I've got a postal PCR that I'm taking. I've actually took another lateral flow test one of the newer nasal ones and its negative again so god knows! But still doing the PCR anyway. Just on edge about DP potentially getting it if I do. He's double jabbed himself but him not being able to be at the birth would well and truly break him, and me.

OP posts:
Juicytoot287 · 28/09/2021 16:13

My appointment was inconclusive lol! She said she thought head down but it could be breech and she could not say. So scan next week it is!

mooloop · 28/09/2021 16:23

How annoying @Juicytoot287 πŸ™ˆ at least you're getting your scan so you'll know for sure! I feel a bit nervy at the thought of the MW saying she now thinks he's head down on Thursday so no need for scans, in case she's wrong!

Juicytoot287 · 28/09/2021 16:26

@mooloop I had a different midwife. She said if I hadn't told her that my previous scan and checks were breech she would have said head down. But she wasn't willing yo bet on it because it could have been the bum so because of that I am going for a scan.

So yeah, I know how you feel! I feel anxious not knowing at the moment where she is lying and what this means for us. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Juicytoot287 · 28/09/2021 16:53

Also have to say it hurt a bit when she did the exam and I feel tender now
Anyone else ever got this?

Chameleon2021 · 28/09/2021 17:09

My MW was adament he's head down and I had to argue he wasn't. What she was feeling was his feet..!! So definitely push for a scan if she's not sure..

Breech here since about 30 weeks and no budging!

mooloop · 28/09/2021 17:20

I'm seeing the same midwife as last time (i think!) so hopefully she'll err on the side of caution! I thought breech babies were fairly rare so I'm surprised there's 3 of us on here in the same boat and my friend had her breech baby a few weeks ago πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Juicytoot287 · 28/09/2021 17:24

that is fairly odd! I heard they were rare too. To be honest i had a dream she turned and ever since I keep second guessing her position. The movements are so similar so it really is hard to tell. But like we have said, I have a scan in and it isnt like that would do a c section before 37 weeks so no harm in waiting besides my sanity!

I am going to decline the ECV i think, but will obviously decide that sooner. She has a week to turn to she probably will and then I will be back to awaiting signs of labour. She just said if I go in the hospital for any labohr warning signs to inform them I am queried breech at the moment because they need to know asap.

ugh just when I resigned myself to breech

anniee8ava · 28/09/2021 17:46

Hey ladies i haven't posted in this thread yet but due 2nd October so 39+3 today.
With my last baby waters broke (no labour) at 39+1 and she was 8lb 4 born. This baby is a boy, slightly worried that hes going to be massive if he cooks for much longer but not really getting any labour signs yet. I hate this waiting....

mooloop · 28/09/2021 17:53

@Juicytoot287 it's really hard having to change your mindset isn't it, I'm not sure how I'll feel if she says he's head down to be honest! Worried that she's wrong probably!

@anniee8ava welcome! Not long to go for you Shock how exciting! Hopefully baby boy doesn't leave you waiting too long. How are you feeling?

HedgerowRobin · 28/09/2021 18:04

Hi ladies - just catching up on all the messages!

@MyGrassIsBrowner I’ve got all my fingers and toes crossed for a negative PCR! Absolutely not the stress you need at this stage! Fully agree with you about baby being much more uncomfortable head down than transverse, mine spends most of his days grinding what I think is his head into my hip bone and smashing his feet up under my ribs!! Plus the pelvic pain is really ramping up now and I can only walk at an absolute snails pace which is so frustrating

@mooloop @Juicytoot287 we’re all on such similar timelines! 31st Oct due date here, I’m still working but last day next Friday when I’ll be 36 + 5, can’t come soon enough! I’ve got 2 weeks of annual leave then my mat leave starts when I’m nearly 39 weeks. I’ve got my final growth scan a week tomorrow, no issues so far so I’m really hoping they give me the go ahead for the MLU.

Had a midwife appt last Weds where we discussed birth plan etc - I asked about visiting/partner access to the maternity unit and I wish I hadn’t to be honest, it’s made me so anxious! Partner can only be there for active labour, a couple of hours post birth and then one hour (pre booked) per day if I have to stay in. Have any of you heard similar?

So exciting that there will be babies arriving on Thursday! Good luck ladies - I bet you’re so excited 😁

MeadowHay · 28/09/2021 18:05

Hi @anniee8ava welcome! The waiting is weird isn't it?? With my first, I never felt like I was waiting as for no reason at all I convinced myself I was gonna be dead late and need induction. So I never felt like I was waiting for labour and I was blindsided when it came! This time though I assume I will go spontaneously so now I'm just nervously waiting all the time, it's horrible!

I think I'm getting DH and DD's cold FML. Sad hopefully it will just stay really mild and nor get bad like theirs has been. DH has had it pretty bad for 5 days with no sign of improvement yet eurgh.

I think breech is a bit more common in first time mothers isn't it? So that may explain some of it.

@Juicytoot287 I usually find abdominal palpation uncomfortable in the last few weeks, they kind of have to to get a good feel I think and also depends on how sensitive you are to pain too I suppose. I definitely find it a bit sore and unpleasant, it's the same if my DH is doing it. Even when they press to find the fundus I find sore tbh.

lboogy · 28/09/2021 18:30

Anyone experiencing itchy skin? I'm 35 weeks and the skin on my stomach has been itchy for a few weeks and now it's spread to the rest of my body. According to NHS it may be due to a liver problem...
