Hey ladies, thought I'd start a thread for all us mamas due October 2021! Whether you're on your first or your tenth child, let's share our journey together!

My due date is officially 8th October and this is my second baby girl πŸ’œ My DD is 15 months old so I'm gonna have two under two.. god help me πŸ™‰
I'm actually booked in for an elective section this time (reason being is that I have low grade rectocele prolapse and I'm petrified that another vaginal birth will make it worse) my first labour was 4.5 hours from start of initial contractions to birthing her - textbook waterbirth on paper pretty much. I am however starting to reconsider my decision and go for my original plan of a homebirth. DH has just landed a new job only 15 mins away so it changes a lot. Any other ladies looking to try for a homebirth? I know for me personally it takes a lot of the strain off finding childcare, given how quickly I laboured first time round!

Cant wait to hear your stories and share these last few months of our pregnancies with each other! ❀

Hi @mooloop

I think i remember you from a previous thread. I am due 28th so similar to you! How are you feeling xx

@MyGrassIsBrowner you definitely need some support as that sounds unbareable! Try and rest as best you can. Do baths or hot water bottles help?

Juicytoot287 · 24/08/2021 17:39

oh and hello @HedgerowRobin ! I am a first timer too so we can go through that part together! Have you bought much?

mooloop · 24/08/2021 18:00

Oh hi @Juicytoot287 yes I recognise your username! I'm feeling ok thank you, the breathlessness and back ache have definitely ramped up, and I need to pee 86688 times a day, but overall it could be worse πŸ˜‚ I'm very tired too but working from home is helping at least. Counting down the days to finishing work now.

How are you doing?

MyGrassIsBrowner · 24/08/2021 18:53

@Juicytoot287 @mooloop I was on another thread with you ladies a while back but then it disappeared for me!

Moo how are you feeling?

Im amazed some of you ladies still working.. I'd be about as useful as a chocolate fireguard right now lol!

OP posts:
mooloop · 24/08/2021 19:00

Hey @MyGrassIsBrowner! Not too bad, feeling tired now and aware that will only get worse since I'm only 30+3 πŸ˜¬πŸ˜‚ how are you?

Currently sat watching One Born Every Minute (why am I doing this to myself?!) and trying to work out which baby body parts are which while baby rolls around in there πŸ˜‚

MyGrassIsBrowner · 24/08/2021 19:26

@mooloop you may get lucky and breeze through it. This pregnancy couldn't be any different from my first if it tried.
Sadly at the moment I'm just in a lot of pain with this wretched PGP.

One born every minute is brilliant though lol! It's definitely an eye opener when it comes to childbirth! My bubs is currently transverse/oblique, she's obviously very comfortable but it's causing me so much discomfort!

OP posts:
mooloop · 24/08/2021 19:46

@MyGrassIsBrowner I've had back pain and breathlessness ramp up lately but overall I feel lucky so far. Oh bless you PGP must be seriously tough Sad how far along are you now?

At my last MW appointment baby was head down but I've no idea if he still is. I'd love to have a little window to see what he's getting up to in there πŸ˜‚

NW2021 · 24/08/2021 20:27

Hi Ladies! Hope you don’t mind me jumping in, due 28th Oct, my first baby. I’ve been fine all along but 3rd trimester has hit me hard! Starting to get all nervous now! It’s all starting to feel real! πŸ˜‚

Juicytoot287 · 24/08/2021 20:49

@MyGrassIsBrowner They do keep disappearing but I also think noone uses it now as they have a FB group. I don't have FB so very grateful for this thread now instead.

@mooloop I feel you with the backache, for me is the heart burn too! And I think I may be gettinf braxton hicks now ? I am not sure but my stomach goes really tight and a slightly painful but then it stops and doesnt come back so have never phoned.

@Nw2021 Due date twins!!! Welcome :) Nice to see so many people joining the thread now too

mooloop · 24/08/2021 20:52

Hey @NW2021, nice to have another late October lady οΏΌ I'm due on the 30th.

@Juicytoot287 omgggg how could I forget the heartburn!! I keep saying to DH this baby is gonna come out with more hair than me Grin I've had what I think are braxton hicks a few times too (only ever when I'm walking the dog, weirdly!). I feel the urge to watch all of the birth class videos/read all the books possible now, it's starting to feel more real and I'm getting a bit nervy Shock

MyGrassIsBrowner · 24/08/2021 21:03

@mooloop I'm 33+4 now but I'm booked in for an ELCS on the 4th October!
I feel you on the breathelessness front and backache. Hopefully this will all be a distant memory very soon πŸ™ˆ

@Juicytoot287 Ahh yes I recall they mentioned about making a FB group. I'm not an avid user of FB either which to be honest is why I created this thread. Will be lovely to share the journey with you all until we welcome our bubs into the world. It'll get so exciting as we get nearer our dates seeing who will go first!

Welcome @NW2021 and congrats! How are you doing so far?

I dont think I've really had time to truly think about my section running around after my DD all day. It'll hit me the night before I'm due to go in!

summerhillgang · 24/08/2021 21:05

Welcome @mooloop @NW2021 @HedgerowRobin - first timer here too! Due 5 October.

Yes breathlessness is a key theme right now, and just needing to pee all the time, and getting so very thirsty. It's making car journeys pretty hard (we're currently house hunting and organising a wedding).

@MyGrassIsBrowner sorry you're in so much pain, my midwife said codeine is ok. So maybe that or co-codamyl? Epsom salts in the bath are supposed to help with aches and pains. Did you try the homeopathy? But I am guessing it's more the position of the baby, I think the spinning babies suggestion is a really good one. Anything that gives you a bit of comfort too, like a pregnancy massage. Hope you find something to help you soon as it sounds really rough 😞

I think my babe is in a bit of a funny position against my bladder - which makes me feel like i have a UTI most the time - so my midwife suggested spinning babies for that.

Ordered my pool and entonox for home birth this week! Shit's getting real.

What's everyone looking forward to when baby comes out? I want some
Oysters, champs πŸ₯‚and to have a sleep on my back. Oh and snuggles with my precious babes ❀️

MyGrassIsBrowner · 24/08/2021 21:22

@summerhillgang I'm going to look at an osteopath after baby has arrived and finances are a bit better. I dont think osteopaths are readily available on NHS and if they are there's a humongous waiting list for them and physios atm.
I'm gonna call my GP in the morning and see what pain relief they can prescribe me. Even turning over in bed is absolute agony. Neighbours must be wondering what alll the grunting and groaning is 😳
The spinning babies website is fab! I try and get on all fours if I can (when watching TV etc) but I seriously think she's properly wedged in there and just wont move. Argh!
I'm not too concerned atm though with me booked in for a section anyway, they'll probably just have to do a bit more rummaging πŸ˜†

Aww I hope you get your homebirth. It sounds bliss ❀ Also, good luck with the wedding planning! We're getting married in May, after having our wedding re-arranged three times due to Covid we're eloping just the two of us! Can't wait!

Oh DH already has a bottle of champers ready and waiting for after baby, I cannot wait!

OP posts:
Juicytoot287 · 24/08/2021 21:25

Oh my goodness @summerhillgang I can't wait for a walk at my normal pace to play with the dog. And i will have a steaming hot bath, massive chinese with prawns and a glass of wine! Be nice not to second guess whatever we do for our bodies - just in real life with a baby instead lol!

@mooloop you are braver than me! I cannot watch those shows or anything lol. We did get a discount code for an online class which includes first aid so we are booked on that - much more reasonable than other courses as we could not warrant 300 quid nearly. But thats the most prep for what to expect haha!

@mygrassisbrowner Well exactly! Works much better for me so will definitely keep using this. I imagine you will be amongst the first but DP was talking about the xmas party and it suddenly dawned on me I will be left with a newborn. Only issue is will she be 7 weeks old, 4 weeks old or what haha.

summerhillgang · 24/08/2021 21:54

Omg - are you not supposed to have prawns when pregnant?? Someone else said that. I've been eating them loads 🍀 🦐

NW2021 · 24/08/2021 21:56

@Juicytoot287 so good to have people who are due around the same time!

@mooloop I’m so glad you said that about walking the dog and stomach tightening! I’ve been out for walks and for the past couple of weeks it constantly tight the whole way round the walk! Some times with a stitch, I thought I wonder if they’re the start of braxton hicks? No pain, doesn’t hurt just uncomfortable when walking πŸ˜‚

@MyGrassIsBrowner I’m good thank you ☺️ I can’t complain about this pregnancy to be honest not issues but struggling a bit now with tiredness & growing bump
any one suffering with round ligament pain? I think baby is lying across my stomach at the moment and keeps rolling over the ligament! So hard to describe the pain but when it happens takes me breathe away.

@summerhillgang so funny I’ve been saying I can’t wait for the 3 things… Brie, Bottle of red wine & to use retinol again! πŸ˜‚

summerhillgang · 24/08/2021 21:56

And yes totally to steaming hot bath @Juicytoot287 - so bored of tepid vibes!

summerhillgang · 24/08/2021 22:00

@NW2021 I feel you with the retinol. I've been steering clear of anything too chemical. But going to get back on it and the lasers when baby comes - I got some serious work to do before I get married in July.

With you on Brie and red wine, gosh!
We were trying for over a year to get pregnant and I gave up drinking almost completely during that time, so it's been way over a year since I've been drunk 😡

MyGrassIsBrowner · 24/08/2021 22:36

Oh ladies you'd be disgusted with me, I've consumed medium rare steak throughout my pregnancy πŸ˜† I did also with my DD. Never did her any harm and I've never had any issues!

I'm getting Braxton Hicks quite frequently now, the best way I can describe it is like your stomach being shrink wrapped! And it goes absolutely solid.

OP posts:
MeadowHay · 24/08/2021 22:37

Ahh yes I'm looking forward to cider, red wine, brie, sleeping on my front, being able to wear normal clothes, more strenuous exercise (eventually, obviously not straight away!) and the eventual return of my sex life (again based off last time anticipating this won't be for quite some time either tbh). And just generally not having a huge bump and PGP so I can do active play with DD and be in soft play with her and things that I can't do with her anymore. I must admit though I've never been worried about the hot baths, not that I have them often but I read some good research at the beginning of pregnancy where they concluded that that even sitting in a sauna and things for a short period of time doesn't even raise your body temperature to the extent that a fever would so I've not been concerned about that at all.

mooloop · 24/08/2021 22:49

Ohhh I can't wait to sleep on my back again! And to not have to worry about limiting my caffeine intake Grin

Random question - I've realised on my growth chart my starting weight is down as 4kg heavier than I actually was (I can remember being weighed at booking and that lower weight is recorded in my notes). Will this have made my chart inaccurate? It's more than half a stone difference and I'm short so it's quite a lot Confused

MyGrassIsBrowner · 24/08/2021 23:17

@MeadowHay I too have never sacrified the hot baths either! I need it for this PGP. If I had to give up hot baths I'd crumble πŸ˜†

@mooloop I would just make your MW aware next time you see her. Tbh every bloody chart in that damn book is inaccurate. And dont get me started on the fundal height measurements. I've already been sent for an unecessary growth scan cause the MW thought baby hadn't grown in two weeks when she measured my bump. Turns out she was actually estimated at 2lb 14oz at 28 weeks which is way above average. So I worried over nothing. I get why they do it in one sense but it can cause so much stress.

OP posts:
Juicytoot287 · 25/08/2021 07:22

@summerhillgang I think its raw or cold shellfish, but i just chose not to risk them at all personally! We are all bound to miss things. I was having maccies mcflurries for a while until slmeone told me I shouldnt be due to them cleaning machines not well enough?!

Oh How could I forget brie! I am going to have a brie and bacon baguette toasted, so glad we can have cheese and crackers by christmas time or I could have cried lol!

@MyGrassIsBrowner my sister was the same so thinks I am OTT but i think they just keep on abiut it now and even if they dont, random people keep telling me - the start of much advice we don't ask for lol.

Yes I agree, sleeping on my back or front will be nice too.

With regard to the charts ladies, I know so many that had mismeasurements so definitely flag this!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 25/08/2021 10:04

@Juicytoot287 Nah dont be silly it's not coming across as OTT, you're doing what you think is best for your first bubs!
You dont realise how hardy babies are in the womb. I was still having a drink or two during the week with DD1, I would have done the same this time if it wasn't for the fact that I've completely lost my taste for it 😩 (which I'm desperately hoping returns once I've had her, I miss my red wine lol)

Hi, just wanted to welcome all the new people ☺️ I’m a terrible lurker but I do read and think of you all. 33+4 with baby #5 here, time does seem to have sped up a bit the last few weeks!
