41 weeks and losing hope

Despite having period-like pain nearly every day since 38+4, I am now 41 weeks and still not in labour. Induction tentatively booked for 41+4 or else 41+5. This is my decision - I know I don't have to have an induction, but I think that is the right timing for me. And yet I feel such a sense of dread, and failure, and pressure to go into labour spontaneously before then. I have never missed a deadline in my life and every day it ticks closer. After 2 and a half weeks of false starts, I simply don't believe it will happen in time.

I've decided to try and be optimistic until the last possible moment. Does anyone have positive stories of going into labour during this time frame?

Thanks

I am so sorry to read that.

I hope you have a lots of friends that have finished their families so you can offload to them.

Have you requested the list debrief at the hospital. Ours was called birth reflections and you get a copy of your notes.

Big hugs.

I’m so sorry to read this OP. FWIW I went far “overdue” and had an induction which didn’t go to plan. It’s not uncommon I’ve now come to see.

Our bodies aren’t designed to have these false hormones that try to eject the baby before they’re ready

Plenty of us in the same boat should you wish to come back snd talk about it when you’re ready Flowers

Congratulations on your son. I'm so sorry the birth wasn't what you hoped for.
