Hi! Just looking for any stories from anyone who’s given birth here, preferably semi-recently but happy to hear anything!
The only thing I’ve heard that’s confused me is that you have to go to the dining hall for meals which makes me think of a big school canteen 🤔 anyway thanks I’m advance!

I did but almost 6yrs ago. I wouldn’t have remembered til you said about meals but yes there was a separate area for meals and I remember being really confused about what to do with my baby, but can’t remember what happened, maybe the nurses watched her! I was only in for 12hrs or so so it was only one meal. The experience was fine - I was trying to have a home birth so didn’t really want to be there. I think it was comparable to friends experiences of QUEH.

Dining hall is just a small room at end of corridor. I just had to leave baby and go. It was fine but wards were busy and (if I remember correctly) 6 women sharing one shower and toilet. No major issues!

@Sept2021Nmxxx I'm pregnant with my first and my appointments have been at PRM so assuming I'll be giving birth there... that is a surprise to me I assumed you'd be brought meals to the ward. Especially like you say since you have the baby to watch and also possibly have had a cesarean or stitches and be too sore to move from the bed straight away. When are you due?

If anyone else has anymore information on what the hospital is like to give birth in please do share!

Mabelhc · 27/06/2021 11:59

I'm due to give birth there (first time!) in December, so latching on also!

2020mission · 27/06/2021 12:21

Might see you there @Mabelhc I'm due December too 😆

SproutingSprout2021 · 27/06/2021 12:35

Due to give birth there in September so also wanting to follow- the dining part is news to me!

Sept2021xxxx · 27/06/2021 17:22

@2020mission @SproutingSprout2021 I’m due on the 14th, when are you guys due? I thought the dining thing was weird but I’m hoping I can just get my other half to bring me sandwiches 😂 or the best we can hope for is being in and out the same day so we don’t have to have meals.

I don’t even know where to go when I go in to labour I’ve only been for scans so I’m already anxious for that part!

2020mission · 27/06/2021 18:09

I'm not a fan of the hospital so far I had such a long wait between my 12 week scan and the bloods... 1hr 45mins in the waiting room 🤣 my husband had to wait outside too. Out of curiosity how long did you all wait for the NT screening results letter to come through after your scan (if you had it that is)? Mines hasn't come through and it's been almost 2 weeks.

SproutingSprout2021 · 27/06/2021 18:12

Due 24th! Oh I know, I’m the same - only been for scans and I’m suddenly starting to freak out that I’m just about in the third trimester and have no idea where to go etc. Starting to feel very real 😬

SproutingSprout2021 · 27/06/2021 18:17

@2020mission - I was told the results were all verbally- they would call if there was anything they needed to discuss and if not the midwife just would speak to me at the next appointment. I would have assumed that’s the same for you? Maybe worth checking with your midwife 😀

2020mission · 27/06/2021 18:27

Ahh @SproutingSprout2021 maybe I'll just hear at the 16 week appointment then. I just assumed we'd get a letter since ladies on MN seem to have got that but it might be different for every NHS health board I guess. I would have loved a September due date mines is 30th December so could either hit Christmas or Hogmanay 😅

Sept2021xxxx · 27/06/2021 18:27

@2020mission they told me 3 weeks id get a call from midwife but if there was anything really high risk they’d call within a week. I left both my 12 ans 20 week scan in agony because the sonographer was SO rough with me especially 20 week scan I felt bruised for days after it.

@SproutingSprout2021 did they tell you that after your 20 week scan you probably wouldn’t have to go back to the hospital unless there were any issues? They told me that and I was like ehh ok so where am I meant to go when I need to come in 😂

SproutingSprout2021 · 27/06/2021 18:33

@2020mission ohh but a wee Christmas baby will be so lovely!!!

@Sept2021xxxx yea, just with the midwife now unless I’ve any problems but I think I’m going to have to ask her when I have my app on Wednesday where on earth I go/ what I do when the time comes!! I thought we would receive a lot more information than this but at least I’m not alone 🤣

2020mission · 27/06/2021 18:33

@Sept2021xxxx bruised? 😬 I must have lucked out with my 12 week scan. She did prod on my stomach a few times a bit hard to try and get baby to move but I had no pain or bruising after. I'll prepare myself for the 20 week one just incase!

Sept2021xxxx · 27/06/2021 18:36

@SproutingSprout2021 it’s good to know we’re in the same boat! I had my midwife appointment last week and it wasn’t my usual midwife but she was still nice, she did say they don’t tend to discuss birthing plans anymore so I’m not sure what happens with that 😳

@2020mission I’ve had 2 private scans at window to the womb and both of them were fine I could hardly move after my 20 week one 🤦🏻‍♀️

2020mission · 27/06/2021 18:37

I have another question actually... do you ladies have your maternity notes? I was never given mines away I just assumed we were meant to have them to bring to appointments. Not sure if they've switched it to all be electronic now or something.

Sept2021xxxx · 27/06/2021 19:02

No I was wondering that aswell though! Assuming cos of covid it’s all online

SproutingSprout2021 · 27/06/2021 19:15

Mine are all online - on badger notes I think it is!

@Sept2021xxxx - they don’t discuss birthing plans?! Oh god I was hoping they did as I don’t have a clue! That’s worrying 😬

Sept2021xxxx · 27/06/2021 19:25

@SproutingSprout2021 I know! It’s something I keep thinking about because I don’t want to go into labour without having some sort of rough plan, tbh my plan is probably gonna be as much pain relief as possible 😂

SproutingSprout2021 · 27/06/2021 19:30

@Sept2021xxxx haha mine too but would still like to discuss it with someone who knows a bit more than me!!!

Sept2021xxxx · 27/06/2021 19:32

@SproutingSprout2021 I’m the exact same! Have you started buying things for your hospital bag yet?

SproutingSprout2021 · 27/06/2021 19:38

@Sept2021xxxx not yet but I have it on my list to do this week! Trying to frantically google what I’ll need. Have you started?

Sept2021xxxx · 27/06/2021 19:48

@SproutingSprout2021 I haven’t yet but I think I might try and pick up a few things so I’ve at least made a start

2020mission · 27/06/2021 20:07

@SproutingSprout2021 oh you got badger notes access? I've read others on MN mentioning that app but just assumed Glasgow or the Princess Royal hadn't set it up yet. Wonder why they haven't given us all access? They seem so disorganised to me!

SproutingSprout2021 · 27/06/2021 20:14

@2020mission my midwife is technically in Rutherglen and she set it up so wonder if that’s anything to do with it!
