Just had a sweep today. I'm already 3cm dilated. Anyone else the same? Or does anyone else have any stories to tell me? How long did it take? Did it actually work?

Was 2 weeks overdue. Had a sweep in the morning with my 2nd. Less than 24hrs later I'd given birth on the toilet!
I think I would have been close to giving birth anyway, but I feel it did give it a push, so to speak!

inappropriateraspberry · 28/06/2021 09:27

I was cramping then it just kicked in. Labour was about 1.5 hrs.

Baby boy born just after midnight 💙 fairly long labour, no induction just broken waters followed by long wait to get past 4cm

Any news @LisaLx?

LisaLx · 29/06/2021 07:13

Congratulations to you Smile still nothing here .

Was your baby engaged fully to break your waters? And did your contractions start naturally?

OP posts:
THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 29/06/2021 07:14

Not engaged at all

Contractions started on their own

LisaLx · 29/06/2021 07:48

Mine is the same not fully engaged the last check they said 4/5 but could break my waters if needed. Your labour has defiantly given me some hope.

Are you doing ok?

@LisaLx if your labour is going on "normally" and you are having strong regular contractions don't let them break waters.

I was at the hospital waiting for a room for days and when labour started on its own and going well they STILL broke my waters. Well my contractions went from very nice very regular very normal to nonstop! It was horrible! Baby's heartrate went down and the crash team had to be called. Luckily as soon as they put me on stirrups I had a huge urge to push and baby was out!

grey12 · 29/06/2021 08:04

Btw I had my waters broke before for DC2 but I wasn't "in labour". It started afterwards and it went great!! It took about 5hours after the waters were broken (better than the 2 days with pessary with DC1....)

I'm having no contractions at all just sitting here between 3-4 cm. I started dilating 2 and a half weeks ago contractions come and go but nothing regular. Hopefully not much longer now

I'm 40 weeks and 4 days. Been having some cramp this morning but not building my hopes up. Have my midwife this afternoon for my 3rd sweep. I'm hoping it works

Check my previous reply. They definitely do. But if you are in proper labour just tell them to ...... off Grin
LisaLx · 01/07/2021 09:16

My baby boy arrived last night. The sweep was successful and ended up in hospital 30 minutes later. Good luck to everyone else still waiting
