@bewitchingnight yay great news! Please remind me - are you still diet controlled? I’m 27 weeks today.
@Bubbles1st fingers crossed all goes well and Monday comes round quickly
When do you all started noticing patters in movement? And when they say pattern does it mean same time every day/same number of times babies move in a day?

Thanks xx

Bubbles1st · 15/07/2021 16:25

@Firevie for me it was quite a while before I noticed much of a pattern and even now it's not throughout the day consistently but at night he definitely moves the most and nearly always once I first get in bed. So for me him not doing that one night was a concern, I fell a sleep and gave him until lunch time the next day and still nothing, then I called and went in.

AdventuresAwait · 15/07/2021 16:31

@Moominmiss, hoping the symptoms stay gone with your increased dose. Sorry to hear you had a high reading. I know it may not help but my fasting levels were sorted as soon as I started insulin (and I really didn't want to) and I've actually found it quite reassuring knowing that they're controlled.

@Firevie, I use the Kicks Count app. I know some don't like using it but for me, it's really helpful. You log the 'sessions' of movements rather than every kick. I have a range that she moves between so I'm happy if it's between those numbers. But it's so easy (for me) to lose count... eg, sometimes I think she's not moved much, open the app and see she has, I've just forgotten! It also shows the last 7 days so you can clearly see changes.

bewitchingnight · 15/07/2021 16:40

@Firevie thank you! Yes diet controlled so far. Fingers crossed for the next 8 weeks. Movements for me - there are always a few points in the day (roughly) when I feel her move so I look out for those. I would say the pattern settled about 30 weeks as she changed position then and went head down, so all the movements felt different from what had come before.

CherLW · 15/07/2021 19:53

My small one was 4.10lb at 32 weeks and they said that was fine @AdventuresAwait so try not to worry. To me he sounds massive but I just need to keep remembering what the consultant said and that was everything is ok 🤞🏼

@bewitchingnight I hope they do talk things through a bit more with me around 36 weeks, just seems to be cutting it fine! Especially like you say getting your head round things!
I have my midwife on the 30th July and then growth scan, consultant and diabetic midwife on 4th August so I’m hoping after those two I will have a bit more of an idea any plan 🤞🏼

Public service announcement!

I've just had Konjac noodles for the first time, being fat free, carb free and low calorie I was pretty dubious how these would taste. My friend said she find them better as a noodle replacements than pasta.

So I cooked masses of bacon, onion and mushroom with garlic, soy sauce and Chinese 5 spice, rinsed the noodles well and then added them. I did add a small amount of whole meal pasta otherwise I wouldn't have any carbs in the dish.

Well it was delicious, the noodles just picked up the taste from the wok. I smothered in cheese for good measure 🤣

Reading after an hour was perfect and I honestly feel like I had a bit carby bowl of comfort food.

I will however reserve full judgement until I see
How long they keep me filled.

I found them in b and m. Not very cheap but definitely think this could be a weekly treat! If you're struggling and want to fill a bowl and feel like you're not missing out, try them!

CherLW · 15/07/2021 20:26

Thanks @Bubbles1st I will have a look for those!
Yesterday I had a stir fry from M&S and they had high protein lentil noodles and they were good for me reading wise and you wouldn’t know they weren’t normal noodles!

OP posts:
Bubbles1st · 15/07/2021 20:28

@CherLW yes I've read about them too but not sure where I can get them from.

AdventuresAwait · 15/07/2021 20:32

Thank you @CherLW. Baby was 4.1lbs at 31 weeks and it looks like a high percentile that it is marked on. 80-85th maybe?

CherLW · 15/07/2021 20:34

I get really confused at the percentile thing.. no one has ever really explained it @AdventuresAwait I just go by what I’m told by the midwives etc.

@Bubbles1st in M&S they do a stir fry meal deal for 2 and it’s the meat, noodles/rice, veg bag and sauce. They sometimes do a green noodle too but I can’t remember what they were but something protein.

@CherLW we don't have an m and a good hall anymore locally 😭

Bubbles1st · 15/07/2021 20:39

Food hall obviously!

GWhiteley · 16/07/2021 05:53

Hi everyone,
Sorry been a bit quiet this week as had lots going on at work & home. Have been taking the metformin after dinner each night & fingers crossed 🤞🏻it seems to be doing the trick with my fasting levels. I've had 5 good days where only one of my readings was slightly high so pleased it's evened out. I've got my second growth scan & first consultant apps next weds & I am bricking it a bit as to whether she's grown a lot since the last one. Really want to go as close to my due date as possible, but will have to wait & see. I can't believe I'm 33 weeks today & only have 13 working days left until I've finished!

Firevie · 16/07/2021 07:25

@GWhiteley well done that’s great news! My nurse called me yesterday and said she’s v pleased with my day levels just fasting ones are a bit over the range. She’s given me another week and said she’ll call again next Friday. If the fasting ones don’t come down she’ll make me take a tablet after dinner in the evening. Have you had any side effects from it? Hope I can keep it controlled with just one tablet - really don’t want to go on more than that. Let’s see x

Scotti84 · 16/07/2021 10:48

@Bubbles1st thanks for the noodles tip! Managed to find some over here too! Also got some super healthy low carb low sugar granola, levels were under the limit so pleased with that, found some hummus chip things too, and gluten free sugar free cookies that are about the size of a 2p but better than nothing! Having a very inquisitive day today 😅

CherLW · 16/07/2021 23:30

@GWhiteley 33weeks is crazy isn’t it!! I only have 15 working days left and I can not wait!! I work shifts so last working days is august 8th! I really liked seeing my consultant, he was really to the point. Fingers crossed we both make it into September!!

How is everyone getting on?

Bubbles1st · 17/07/2021 12:56

It might only last 2 mins but I'm loving life in this instant

This is so tasty! Just under 10g carbs and the perfect treat.

I'm having my sweet treats immediately after my meal, I find I tolerate them better than standalone, plus I find them more fulfilling and enjoyable because I'm not hungry.

GWhiteley · 17/07/2021 13:03

@Firevie no I've not had any symptoms from them at all thankfully. That's what I'm currently on, one tablet after dinner & it's mostly worked with bringing my fasting levels down each day.

I've started having a treat size bag of buttons after I've tested each evening as a treat. I literally inhale & they've gone 😂

@CherLW I've got 13 working days as I've got next Thursday & Friday off as we're going away for a few days. Slightly nervous about what I'll be able to snack on if I'm honest as we're staying in a hotel which I doubt will have a fridge I could keep my philidelphia in. Still hubby paid so can't complain too much - just don't think he realises what small distance I can walk before needing a rest 😂

CherLW · 17/07/2021 13:16

@GWhiteley that sounds lovely! Even just being away from home and enjoying some different scenery for a bit 😊. My lack of energy was really sudden! Like the last two weeks I’m exhausted even after a small walk or climbing the stairs etc!

I’m stuck between not wanting the time to go quickly and wanting work to be over!!

OP posts:
GWhiteley · 17/07/2021 13:22

@CherLW I most definitely want work to be over. But happy to wait a couple of weeks after that before baby comes!

bewitchingnight · 17/07/2021 14:30

I've still got 5 weeks at work left and I can't wait for it to be over! Still feels like such a long time to go.

My husband made this cake (!!) for me to try yesterday - no flour and not much sugar. I had a half slice (maybe a 16th?) with some cream and tested an hour after and levels were ok. Felt like such a treat!

Scotti84 · 18/07/2021 10:39

Just got back from our one night 'honeymoon or quick escape up a mountain for some peace and relaxation day. Was so nice to be in a hotel even if it was just one day. Unfortunately as with everywhere atm, they had nearly no staff so had only 5 options on the menu, germany is massive on heavy pasta and big portions, so I went for a schnitzel with fries and ate half of it, with a heap of Mayo, which I'm sure is against German law or something 😅 for pud I had a scoop of ice cream with cream and a mountain of hot raspberries, and I was under target, not massively but enough so after feeling guilty all through eating, it turns out it wasn't so bad. Back to normality today though.

One thing is worrying me a bit, my morning fasting rates are going up, I need to be under 95, last couple of weeks i was in the 80s, early 90s and the last three days they've been 96 and 97. I read that GD gets worse as the pregnancy goes, bit worried that they're going to keep climbing, I've tried snacking before bed, and then not, and drinking more water etc, but seems to have no effect. Anyone else seen similar things?

DressyGerbera · 18/07/2021 16:47

Hi All, sorry been quiet too, been such a busy week! went for a 36 week scan, baby seems well and growing ok so am very relieved! Been doing batch cooking/ keto style baking as well - as would like to keep up with the diet (not as restrictive as now though!) post pregnancy. How are you all keeping?

@Scotti84 oh you just made me feel like having schnitzel! i love those! Was it normal ice cream you had? fantastic that your reading were within range! not sure about fasting levels, but have heard drinking water in the middle of the night could help as well and taking your fasting reading right after you wake up (i.e. before you do any activity etc as your body might respond to that)

Scotti84 · 19/07/2021 08:09

@DressyGerbera I really enjoyed it! Yeah it was just one scoop of vanilla ice cream, I'm assuming because there was so much cream and berries with it that's why it was ok. Deffo going to try and recreate it at home!

My levels were good this morning, I did them before i even got out of bed and I didn't have a snack last night so maybe that's that's key for me? It's still such a try and fail game isn't it! But whatever works I'll stick with

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 19/07/2021 08:20

I’m 28 weeks and diet controlled.
My numbers have always been low but I’m dropping into the 2s I’m an afternoon, even after a snack now. I’m just following a low carb/ sugar diet. Nothing crazy.
I was very ill when I had my glucose test two weeks ago. Has anyone ever had a false diagnosis before? Or are my readings normal?
