Congratulations @Scotti84!! 🥳💖⚘

bewitchingnight · 13/07/2021 19:28

@Scotti84 congratulations hope you've had an amazing day! I'm with you on the Big Mac for sure

Sorry to hear about your side effects @Moominmiss I hope they settle down quickly

Scotti84 · 14/07/2021 10:02

Thanks guys! 🥰

PlantMummy87 · 14/07/2021 10:10

Congratulations @Scotti84 🎉

Thank you everyone for your advise the other day when I commented and welcoming me to the group. Sorry I hadn't got around to responding sooner, we went camping so the WiFi was patchy.

Thank you to whoever (sorry I can't find the comment now) suggested pairing tofu as my protein/fat, luckily I quite like tofu so have been incorporating into a few more meals a week. I also have been trialing having snacks in-between meals and having small meals as I've never been much of a snacker apart from after work and think it is helping.

Reading about some of you ladies having a snack before bedtime made me give it a go to help with my fasting reading, so been having few almonds/pistachios before I sleep, not sure if this is the right snack, but it's brought down my fasting levels for sure so thank you. Have also been trying to drink a glass of water with every meal/snack and a glass in-between and although I feel like I'm weeing constantly numbers are looking a lot lower so can deal with the extra bathroom trips!

Sorry to hear @Moominmiss that you have been poorly with side effects of the medication, that sounds so horrible. I hope it gets better for you quickly.

CherLW · 14/07/2021 14:08

@Moominmiss sorry to hear about your side effects, hopefully they become more manageable really quickly! It’s horrible that it’s doing something to help but also making you feel worse 😞

Congratulations @Scotti84 ❤️ And I am loving your food list!!

Congratulations @Scotti84!! ❤️❤️❤️
@CherLW pint during meals rather than after seems to be doing the trick so far thanks for the tip. Fasting levels still up just awaiting the dreaded call from the nurse. Also ordered some extra testing strips from Amazon as I want to see if I can eat pomegranate paired with nuts as I have low iron and I used to fix it with a pomegranate per day. Walking is also helping I think but my it gets tiring to do 40mins after breakfast lunch and dinner lol
Was wondering if anyone has tried apple cider vinegar before going to bed? Have read about it but not sure whether I should try it xxx

CherLW · 14/07/2021 16:19

So glad it’s working @Firevie!! Hopefully the nurse will be able to give you some guidance when they call you tho.

I’ve not thought of pomegranate… I am missing grapes tho, am I right in thinking they are a higher sugar fruit? I love them frozen and I am craving them in this weather!!
Not heard of the apple cider thing, I don’t know if I would fancy that 🤢

OP posts:
Firevie · 14/07/2021 16:27

@CherLW I think grapes are pretty high in sugar/higher GI. Maybe worth checking when you speak with your nurse next
My consultant told me pomegranate isn’t high in sugar so should be fine but I’m paranoid. Might try tmr after I’ve done my breakfast test and have it as a snack with lots of nuts lol
It’s all trial and error
Have you been told you can go to 40weeks given you’re diet controlled? Xx

CherLW · 14/07/2021 16:32

@Firevie I guess the only way of knowing is having a trial run.. hopefully pomegranate will work for you 🤞🏼. I’ll just avoid grapes for now and add them to my ‘when I’m allowed’ list!

It’s weird as I haven’t been told anything really. I saw the diabetic midwife and the consultant last week and they said all was ok and will look again in 4 weeks time. I’m hoping my next appointment I’ll get some more info! The consultant said we will make any decisions if any next time I see you… so just waiting really.

OP posts:
Firevie · 14/07/2021 16:37

@CherLW will let you know how I go with pomegranate tmr. I’m too scared today especially since I’ve just stuffed myself with apple and peanut butter lol
When’s your next appointment? Perfect if you can just go as is diet controlled and going all the way to 40weeks!!
I have my next growth scan on 27th July and my midwife routine bloods next Sat. I’m slightly further behind than you though at 26+5 today x

CherLW · 14/07/2021 16:42

@Firevie yeh try tomorrow.. maybe some protein yogurt or something with it.. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!

My next one is august 4th and I’ll be 35+5 then 😱 it’s so scary!! I’m hoping I can get to 39+5 at least so he can be born in September! Im hoping I can stay diet controlled and also that he doesn’t get too big!

Firevie · 14/07/2021 17:03

@CherLW fingers crossed for you! 4th August isn’t long off. It really is creeping up. My due date is 14th Oct and my birthday is 16th Oct so I would love to have him as close to his EDD as poss …let’s see

CherLW · 14/07/2021 17:17

@Firevie my due date is September 3rd, just hoping I can wait but I’ll just see what they say abs advise really 😊 that would be lovely! Would love to share a birthday with my baby!

How are you doing with the Metformin now @Moominmiss? Xx

bewitchingnight · 15/07/2021 12:27

Had my first growth scan and she's bang on 50th centile and 4.1 lbs. what a relief!

Doing more of a birth plan at the next appointment in 3 weeks but at the moment they are happy for me to go to my due date.

Hope everyone is getting on ok this week x

AdventuresAwait · 15/07/2021 12:50

That's great to hear @bewitchingnight! It is great that you can go to your due date, wish I could! But really pleased for you. 💖 How many weeks are you now? Xx

CherLW · 15/07/2021 13:02

That’s good to hear @bewitchingnight. I’m hoping soon someone will start talking about the birth of my baby or some sort of birth plan 🤷🏻‍♀️ X

bewitchingnight · 15/07/2021 13:02

32 yesterday. Yes it was nice to hear, they'll go for an induction on the due date, unless I need any medication beforehand and then it'll be 38/39 weeks. Nice to hear a bit more of a plan! Also I'd got really nervous beforehand so I'm glad that it's all done!

AdventuresAwait · 15/07/2021 13:36

@bewitchingnight, that's good. I'm 32 today and baby was 4.1 last week so on the bigger side which I'm trying hard not to worry about.

bewitchingnight · 15/07/2021 14:02

@AdventuresAwait It's easier said than done not worrying isn't it! There must be a fair bit of range of normal weights though within the centiles?

@CherLW hopefully you get more detail at the next appointment, they said to me most of the planning takes place at 36 weeks - although that doesn't leave a lot of time to get your head around what's happening!

AdventuresAwait · 15/07/2021 14:08

@bewitchingnight, yes they weren't concerned at all as she's still in range. But she's increased in the percentiles from the 20 week scan so I'm a bit concerned she'll jump again. If she stays on the same trajectory, it's okay.

Bubbles1st · 15/07/2021 14:43

I'm 32 weeks tomorrow with growth scan on Monday, I'm really intrigued (not anxious, not anxious) to see how much he has grown since week 28 and what he weighs.

I actually have to go in for monitoring everyday until then though as I was on the unit yesterday for reduced movements and they like to scan but can't see me any sooner than my booked scan for Monday.

He felt more like himself again last night though so if today and tomorrow's monitoring goes ok and he still feels active in the evenings I might decline the weekend appointments as it's all a bit much with the journey too.

AdventuresAwait · 15/07/2021 15:02

Glad his movements were more like his usual movements @Bubbles1st. Not long now until your scan xx

bewitchingnight · 15/07/2021 15:43

@AdventuresAwait ah I see, got my fingers crossed for you

@Bubbles1st glad the movements are more like his normal ones, hope it all goes ok until Monday

Moominmiss · 15/07/2021 15:48

@AdventuresAwait thank you for asking. The side effects of the metformin have pretty much gone, but I’m due to up my dose this evening to 2g so I’m just hoping that doesn’t kick start them again!

My fasting levels are still stupid though, not brought them down at all and yesterday had my highest ever reading of 11.9 😩 so I fear insulin is inevitable.
