Brilliant news @Bubbles1st !!!

Same here @DressyGerbera 38 weeks, could quite happily bin it off now though, it's going to be a long 7 weeks!

AdventuresAwait · 03/07/2021 09:12

@DressyGerbera, my contract finishes soon so no maternity leave for me. I'm taking a couple of years off and will then look for a few job x

AdventuresAwait · 03/07/2021 09:12

*new job!

DressyGerbera · 03/07/2021 13:14

@bewitchingnight I actually preferred it when it was a bit cooler the past few days - heat wave and being heavily pregnant - not a good combo!!

@AdventuresAwait that sounds like great timing! Gives you more time with little bubba!

CherLW · 03/07/2021 17:18

@AdventuresAwait I hope both of our appointments go well!
It will be my first growth scan for the consultant/diabetic team but I had one about 2-3 weeks ago as I was experiencing quite a bit of reduced movement but that was all ok so I’m hoping things are progressing well since then!

I’m just imaging being in the hospital for ages as i assume I’ll be seeing different people. I’m nervous as I feel like there should be questions I need to ask but at the same time news to hear what they say first!

Thanks for the link about BRAIN I’ll take a look 😊

I had a scan two weeks ago, next one on Tuesday, Dr was happy with the size, she was measuring 30+2 and I was 30+3, so that was a relief!

Managed to keep under all my targets today, had half a rottiserie roast chicken with about 10 chips (stole from OH) and was well under after lunch so im really pleased about that. I could live off rotisserie chicken... and may do now that i know it doesnt have a bad effect, plus with the few chips i feel like ive eaten something decent for once!

AdventuresAwait · 03/07/2021 22:08

That's great @Scotti84! Both the scan and the lunch/blood readings today 🥳 yay!

Got a feeling my baby will measure big but still hoping she won't... trying my best.

Bubbles1st · 04/07/2021 09:13

Well I found this a very interesting read.....this was recommended to me by a private midwife yesterday

I can completely relate to the nocebo affect!

AdventuresAwait · 04/07/2021 09:31

Yes very interesting @Bubbles1st! I agree, I can relate too. Thank you for sharing xx

MrsGxx · 04/07/2021 11:25

Hey ladies. 14+3 and newly diagnosed I’m really struggling😥 I don’t know what to eat for all meals, I’d love a bowl of cereal but I know that’s a no go. Any ideas/advice would be great x

CherLW · 04/07/2021 16:04

Hey MrsG congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to the group. Sorry to hear they have diagnosed you so early but definitely a good thing, they can keep an eye on you now 😊

For breakfasts I tend to go for peanut butter on toast (careful as people get effected different with breads), scrambled eggs, mushrooms and bacon. I also have fruit, yogurt and nuts or grape nuts (which is a a cereal) but it works for me. I’m going to make banana pancakes too, with egg and yogurt.

Lunch- Ryvita, Dairy Lea cheese, cucumber, tomatoes and ham. Tuna/Prawn/Ham/Cheese salads. Whole meal wraps with ham and salad -cucumber and tomatoes in the side.

I’d have omelette for breakfast or lunch too sometimes… a few of us have tried sugar free Heinz beans and they are good.

Dinner I mainly have a protein like fish, veggie kebab meat, tuna, chicken etc and then have a small amount of brown pasta, jacket potato, a few new potatoes and add lots of salad or veg… I add Olives, gherkins, pickled onions to the salad. Sometimes I make a pizza with a wrap as the base.

I add cheese to everything!! Love avocado so that too! Someone had mentioned halloumi!

Full fate yogurts are better and less sugar than fat free etc. It’s a lot of trial and error error.

I’ve still had a few little treats, had Nando’s out (which works really well). It’s a lot about pairing food… so if you had say an apple, eat it with cheese or peanut butter. If you had some chocolate (dark is best) have it with some nuts. Yogurt with fruit etc…

Hopefully you find some reassurance from this thread, we’re all here to help each other, wouldn’t know what I would do with out it!! X

Is there any guidance on how many eggs we should eat a week? A friend of mine had said they should only eat three a week or it can also make the baby bigger. Eggs are my lifeline atm but don't want to overdo it.

I find the pairing with fats most helpful, sweet things fruit etc i eat with joghurt, and savoury things, I slather with cheese or Mayo. Not so sure its all that healthy but it keeps my readings good so ill stick with it! Absolutely craving sushi atm though, literally all of the things i cant eat 🤦‍♀️ one for the hospital list!

AdventuresAwait · 05/07/2021 08:48

I hadn't heard that @Scotti84, I will check with my dietician as I am having them for breakfast 😳 I will text her this morning.

Yes I find the pairing helps too, as well as walking after meals & drinking water xx

Scotti84 · 05/07/2021 09:48

@AdventuresAwait let me know what she says please. If i dont need to watch how many im having that would be great!

AdventuresAwait · 05/07/2021 11:17

I have messaged and will let you know as soon as I hear back @Scotti84. Fingers crossed!

DressyGerbera · 05/07/2021 13:48

@scotti84 I have not heard of that as well Scotti. Eggs do contain cholesterol ( egg yolks) so we should be careful with that but I think you have to eat loads for it to have a significant impact. Will be interesting to here what AdventuresAwait's dietitian says

AdventuresAwait · 05/07/2021 14:38

@Scotti84, dietitian said no problem with eggs. Said she is happy to advise if I want more ideas for variety, as I told her I'm having them for breakfast everyday but she didn't see a problem with that.

As @DressyGerbera says, I don't think we should eat loads but the dietician was fine with eggs daily for breakfast if that helps...

AdventuresAwait · 05/07/2021 14:49

How are you all doing with fruit? I guess I've been avoiding it due to sugar but also know I need to have more than I am.

Bubbles1st · 05/07/2021 14:59

@AdventuresAwait all I'm having and tolerating ok is a palm full of strawberries or
Blueberries in my yoghurt. Also a Grammy smith apple with almond butter( new favourite snack) or cheese

GWhiteley · 05/07/2021 15:32

@AdventuresAwait I have strawberries & full fat greek yoghurt for breakie each day, a Granny Smith apple around half 11 & sometimes a plum mid afternoon. I can't do the pairing thing very well, so I just make sure I'm having the apple & plum on their own well before my next meal.

Scotti84 · 05/07/2021 15:47

@AdventuresAwait thank you! Thats a relief, i wont worry too much if i eat daily omelettes then!

I have Apple with Yoghurt for brekkie most days and its always under target. Made banana pancakes and banana bread too, and I bought some berries to snack on but not got round to them yet.

AdventuresAwait · 05/07/2021 16:26

Great thank you @GWhiteley, @Bubbles1st and @Scotti84! I'll try some more & I'm going to try the banana pancakes too!

Dietitian actually text again as I replied thanking her and saying I'd heard they might not be good for baby growing too big and she said she's never heard that and not to worry. So I'm going to continue with eggs ☺

DressyGerbera · 05/07/2021 17:38

@adventuresawait I haven't been able to tolerate much fruit - but strawberries and clotted cream (yums!) are fine for me. I haven't tried bananas either. Am going to try granny Smith apples this week and will see

So good that you can text the dietitian! No such thing for my trust thought they do offer a call back service.

DressyGerbera · 05/07/2021 17:41

@scotti84 the banana bread - is that using almond flour?

CherLW · 05/07/2021 17:57

@DressyGerbera strawberries and clotted cream 😍 sounds so dreamy! Clotted cream straight on the shopping list!
