Just a little group for the ladies with GD to talk, ask all the questions and be there for each other

@DressyGerbera... ooh strawberries and clotted cream are now on my shopping list!
It's funny how trusts differ, isn't it? I just have to text the diabetic nurse, dietician and diabetic midwife & they message back or call me if needed.

Meeting my consultant and having the growth scan on Thursdays... starting to get nervous xx

AdventuresAwait · 05/07/2021 18:26

Just saw you said the same @CherLW!

CherLW · 05/07/2021 19:04

@AdventuresAwait great minds think alike!! I love clotted cream.. can’t wait until I can have it with jam and a scone again!

I know what you mean about the appointments coming up, mine is Wednesday and I’m feeling nervous too.. just don’t know what to expect…my letter says growth scan, consultant and diabetic team.. so I’m assuming 3 different meetings?

@AdventuresAwait@CherLW haha glad I mentioned clotted cream!! so so good!! and feels like a proper dessert as well!

good luck with both your scans!! I think you have your scan and then discuss the results with the consultant? that's what happened to me. i only met the dietitian once when i first got diagnosed.

AdventuresAwait · 05/07/2021 19:19

Hope it goes well @CherLW, I'll be thinking of you. Mine is two appointments: growth scan & then a meeting with the consultant and diabetic team together.

CherLW · 05/07/2021 19:20

@DressyGerbera I’m excited to go buy some 😂 it’s the little things I suppose!!

I hope that’s what happens, I had a growth scan 2-3 weeks ago but didn’t see anyone after, the lady who done it said all was as should be tho.
I saw a diabetic midwife when diagnosed and had a phone call with the dietician. I wish I had the option to text them and things

@AdventuresAwait thank you xx I’ll be thinking of you Thursday. I’ll be able to let you all know how it goes

Me too @CherLW, it will feel like a real treat! I'm missing lots of foods. Happy to text my dietician with any general questions if it would help :-)
Glad your scan was good. I'm worried baby will be big. She hasn't been (20 week and private scan was 65-69% which they said was fine) but I just keep wondering.

CherLW · 05/07/2021 19:39

@AdventuresAwait that’s lovely of you to offer :).
I’m missing lots of food too, even tho yesterday I had some chocolate and my reading was fine! I keep thinking will they soon not be fine if I do have chocolate! (Not that I do often, I’m too worried).

All my scans etc so far have been fine, I just want it to continue. It’s hard not to let your mind wander isn’t it,

Yes, hope all the appointments go well this week @CherLW and @AdventuresAwait . Mine is a week on Thursday and I'm nervous too although I am excited to be having a scan, very interested to know what we can see compared to the 20 week one. Obviously hoping that she isn't huge as well! I have a phone call with the diabetic midwife on weds which will be good because I haven't spoken to anyone for ages and want to know I'm doing alright with my readings etc.

I agree with strawberries and clotted cream, I put some pecans on as well and it was very much like a proper pudding. I thought I'd be all about missing sweet stuff but what I really really want is a doorstep slice of white sourdough toast! (Or two)

Bubbles1st · 05/07/2021 20:17

All this talk of strawberries and clotted cream
I have to share this find with you.

Mini raspberry meringues, they really are mini, but I promise just 1 or 2 crumbled on top of your dessert is a game changer!

I made a mouse with sugar free jelly and Greek yoghurt with strawberries in and this on top. Then I froze the mixture and it's sooo nice!

Only the strawberries and meringues are counted as everything else is good!

Urgh, need to remind myself not to have gravy when I have a sweet potato...always end up with a high reading & it's so annoying!

Bubbles1st · 05/07/2021 20:57

@CherLW yes good day here too! My first fasting reading below 5 since diagnosed 4 weeks ago! Wondering if this is because insulin is finally right or because I had late night nut snack!

Had a burger in whole meal bun for tea and had a low design after so all in all a success!

bewitchingnight · 05/07/2021 21:00

Brilliant! I had a slightly high lunch reading which was annoying but the rest of the day has been good so I'm focusing on that!

CherLW · 05/07/2021 21:01

@Bubbles1st that’s good on the below 5 fasting reading! It feels good with things start to settle! A late night nut snack 😂

I’ve just added nuts to my strawberries and yogurt for breakfast in the morning!

@CherLW anywhere it might be rube but definitely not here 🤣

DressyGerbera · 05/07/2021 21:33

@Bubbles1st ooh what a good tip! Just having one or two crushed would be amazing! And nice one on the burger as well I haven't ventured there yet - haha rather bigger portion of wholewheat pasta bake today and readings were ok too ( did do a bit of a walk in the house though!)

@Scotti84- thanks for the recipe! Is your reading ok afterwards? I'm not sure if i can tolerate the banana bread recipe you shared, with the sugar and the flour as well.

Bubbles1st · 05/07/2021 21:40

@DressyGerbera yup just enough of a sweet treat.

I've just started decorating our spare room, stripping wall paper first on the agenda, that's going to be my post evening meal exercise for a few weeks!

Scotti84 · 05/07/2021 21:52

@DressyGerbera for me its ok, i dont have much and have it with joghurt (its the one thing i cant throw Mayo or cheese on), i think because its wholewheat flour im ok with that, and because I dont have it if ive had anything else with sugar that day that im ok with it.

I get bored so easily with food so i prefer to have a variety of things i can choose from then im happier.

DressyGerbera · 05/07/2021 22:04

Scotti, how wonderful that your readings are ok after that, I am jealous for sure!!

GWhiteley · 05/07/2021 22:29

Is anyone else struggling with constipation? Really struggling & feel bloated & uncomfortable. When I do go it's quite painful. Sorry - tmi!

I've been having crackers with cheese as a snack in the morning, but think I'm going to have to change it to Ryveta & see if that helps 😩

AdventuresAwait · 06/07/2021 02:39

@GWhiteley, yes I am. I've never had it before and I didn't realise how painful it could be.

I've bought some Senoease to try and help.
