Just looking for stroller and wanted to get some inspiration.

Which stroller are you planning to buy for baby, or have brought in the past and really liked.

I think I'm swaying towards the icandy peach.

The only thing I'm puzzling over is how much it's recommended to get a car seat to work with a travel system. I'm swaying towards a Joie 360 or Maxi Cosi 360, neither of which I believe you ever remove from car to use with a travel system. Not sure if I'm making a big mistake and should reconsider 🤔

jessicakxx · 08/06/2021 11:11

I'm also going to get a icandy peach travel system that comes with maxi cosi, no idea if that's the right thing to do as I'm really confused about the whole car seat thing, it's my first baby; luckily I have 4 more months to figure it out 😂

Chelyanne · 08/06/2021 11:19

We've got the ZeTa Vooom in plum for this baby. We had the double version for our twins and it was great.

Moominmiss · 08/06/2021 11:29

I have a babystyle Egg pram. I love it.

I will get a smaller lighter stroller for when baby is nearer toddler age.

Carefree1 · 08/06/2021 11:34

I’ve gone for the cybex Priam and I-size cloud z car seat travel system. The car seat swivels on the base in the car and then you just get the next size car seat once baby outgrows the first size. The I-size has lay-flat feature and can be attached to pram/stroller

Lemonlemon88 · 08/06/2021 11:40

We spent way too much on a bugaboo chameleon and bought the whole shebang and never ever put the capsule onto the pram, it was too much hassle with the clips plus babies shouldn't really be in the capsule for long periods of time. I loved the big bassinet but if I had my time again, I would have bought it secondhand.

And with baby number 2, we mainly used a front pack with a mountain buggy nano for the toddler as the toddler hated the buggy board for the big pram.

Nat4392 · 08/06/2021 11:49

I have also gone for the cybex priam with the cloud z car seat. It looks brilliant and the manoeuvrability is excellent. The car seat spins and lies flat which is an added bonus.

Greenbks · 08/06/2021 11:56

@ApplePie86 that’s what we want to do as well.

We want to buy the oyster 3 & the carry fly and separately the Joie swivel for the car.

Not sure if this is a mistake but I’m happy to do this and find out!

@Nat4392 how does the lie flat car seat work?! I’ve never seen one

Izzymay · 08/06/2021 12:47

I’m getting stressed coz I’m 34 weeks and have no stroller. 😱 I need to get a move on.

I do feel that we are being royally ripped off with these strollers. Like why should a stroller with 2 attachable baby seats cost £1000+ it’s completely crazy to me.

I’ve set myself a budget of £500 ( even that’s ridiculous, I feel). But I don’t think I’ll find much decent stuff under that price.

I got an icandy peach without a car seat for about £600, check online as there are lots of deals. People sell them second hand on FB marketplace too.
I didn’t bother with the car seat as it’s not recommended that babies sleep in them for long periods of time anyway. So I would just transfer DD straight to the pram.

sazzt · 08/06/2021 12:58

We've got a year old lightly used oyster 3 secondhand for a bit less than half price. Will get a separate car seat but not too fussed about getting one that would clip into the pram frame as I don't think we'd use it that much

Fartymcfart · 08/06/2021 12:58

I'm in the same position, I'm tempted with the jane trider and the matrix 2 car seat, as it lies flat so would have no need of a bassinet (small house so looking for storage solutions)
Really need to sort something soon.

MM1993 · 08/06/2021 13:02

I was going to go for the Ickle Bubba Stomp V3 which comes with everything for £500, which is within your budget OP.

However I ended up with a Bugaboo Cameleon as I saw a deal online that included a Maxi-Cosi car seat and an isofix base for £800 which compared to most others is a bargain

There’s actually two types of maxi Cosi 360 now, the mica which stays in the car and the pebble/Pearl 360 Smile the pebble and Pearl are a part of a new modular rotating system and the pebble can be removed from the car and attached a pram while also having the swivel. For infant carrier bases there’s two other ones that can swivel, the Cybex Cloud Z with base z (base Z one DOES NOT swivel) and the new Britax Babysafe i-sense or baby-safe 3. These all use maxi Cosi adaptors so can be used with the iCandy
Izzymay · 08/06/2021 13:11

@Tibtab thank you, that’s a helpful tip.

@Izzymay We had a travel system with our 1st that was less than £300 new and we used it for 3 children. When we had our twins we were very limited on boot space so had to get separate pram to car seats etc, most travel systems took up too much room. It felt like a pain taking them out of car seats to pop in pram at 1st but it became habit.
Our son was too big for a carry seat by 4.5mth anyway so we had to upgrade him to a fixed seat then, girls were a fair bit older. They all loved the transition to being able to see out if the windows with the bigger seats, there are so many these days too and worth the higher prices as you use them much longer.

We got the giggle 2 travel system. This linked one is in the foxes print that I would have preferred and is a good deal at 499. Our has lasted really well. My 18 month old slept in it for the first couple of months and napped in it until he couldn't fit in the carrycot. I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant and is going to be used again. No faults whatsoever. I've actually also got a cosatto single buggy and just bought a double one also as this travel system has been so great for us.

MindyStClaire · 08/06/2021 13:18

At that budget I'd consider second hand and get a really good brand. We have an Uppababy Vista that's three years old and on its second DC, still going strong. Probably our best baby buy.

SGChome20 · 08/06/2021 13:20

Baby joggers are great compact buggies and you can get an infant carry cot for them. If you are willing to buy second hand then you’ll get a bargain. I would also say the Icandy prams are good but pricey. I’d opt for second hand if I was doing it all over again. I spent £1k on a travel system and now feel it was a waste of money.

BakeOffRewatch · 08/06/2021 13:22

I got the Mamas & Papas Ocarro full bundle for £300 off Facebook marketplace. I had to be quick to get it. It even came with car seat (but I threw it away). She’d looked after it really well and had barely used it

I bought the Mamas & Papas Airo new recently, I really like that the twist handle collapse of the Ocarro and Airo means you can actually do it one handed. I’ve taken the Airo on the train and tube a few times now easy to collapse with baby in other arm and lightweight.

I have the Joie I-spin 360 car seat and on-street parking that isn’t designated. Baby born in November. It’s fine. I think people get dependent on a car seat, but it is a gimmick in my opinion, and it’s not recommended for them anyway. I kept the Ocarro bassinet as a downstairs sleep space and baby just slept there.

There was a really long thread on car seats, some people were incredulous that you’d never need to move car seat. I never have really. Just pick up baby, wrap in blanket, take to car/home. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/4242118-how-do-you-take-baby-home-from-hospital

I guess one way to look at the cost is that if it costs you £1000 and you use it every day for three years then that works out 91p per day or roughly £1 per day.
Moominmiss · 08/06/2021 13:55

@Izzymay I would 100% recommend looking at second hand ones!

That’s how I got mine. With my first I bought new as I was carried away with the excitement and just thought that’s what you should do, but with my second and third, and now this baby I went second hand.

You can pick up some amazing bargains.

The pram I have this time is £1300 in John Lewis with all the bits we have with it.

I got it on Facebook marketplace in absolutely immaculate condition for £150 and it even came with the matching leather changing bag that is still in shops to buy new fir £80!!

applespearslemons · 08/06/2021 14:08

Almost everyone I know with kids changed their pram by first birthday

Get something cheap or second hand

I used the car seat with adapters on chassis loads

Carrycot used a couple fo times. That's it

Caspianberg · 08/06/2021 14:17

Depends on your lifestyle I think. We use sling a lot still and Ds is 1 year. But also use his main pram, and won’t be changing to another smaller for day to day as we need large wheels due to rural location.

Carrycot was used load here. He used it every day to nap downstairs.

Never had a car seat that moves. We have the maxi cosi mica that stays in car. Would have bought a moveable one if we travelled the first year, but Covid..

ItsSnowJokes · 08/06/2021 14:20

I got the mamas and papas zoom and then the silver cross pop for when she was older. The 2 together came to less than £430 brand new. I cannot understand people spending ££££ on a pram when they are out of them by a year and the umbrella fold pushchairs are so much easier to get in and out of the car. If I had my time again I would probably just use my sling for the first 6 months and then get the umbrella fold pushchairs. My child spent more time in the sling than the pram.
