Hey
I'm 28 weeks pregnant and wondering when to put up the cot.
How far along we're you when you put yours up?

I think I waited till about 35 weeks... totally understand that you can't wait to do it!

Chelyanne · 04/06/2021 19:05

I built our twins cotbed by myself at 30 weeks. I was absolutely huge but I got it done, hubby had a broken leg so couldn't help. Our others I think was a bit later on, around 35/36wk and will be similar with this one as it's last on my list of stuff to buy.

I'm 26 weeks and I've put mine together as I want everything sorted and organised.

I'm not superstitious though.

When the baby was about 4 months old - we didn’t need it until then! I then didn’t take it down again until the youngest came out of it so it was up for about 6 years after that.

MrsTophamHat · 04/06/2021 19:11

With my first, I put it up at 37 and a half weeks and went into labour the next day.

With my second, she was about three months old.

Goodtohear · 04/06/2021 19:12

38 weeks with dc1.
With dt I was a single parent and had to manhadle cot on my own so did it at 30 weeks because I knew I wouldn't be able to physically manage it much later.

cookiecreampie · 04/06/2021 19:23

Didn't buy one until they had outgrown moses basket.

SillyBry · 04/06/2021 19:24

When my daughter was 4 months old! 😊

saraclara · 04/06/2021 19:25

Not until the baby was safely born. My DH did it while I was in hospital.

I can't think of anything worse than having to dismantle a cot Sad

BrilliantBetty · 04/06/2021 19:29

My dad went and bought it and put it up while I was in labour. Gave him something to do while my mum was worrying / excited. That was the next 2 me.

Actual cot, not till baby outgrew the next2me at about 7 months.

Garman · 04/06/2021 19:39

When dc1 was about 10 months, didn't need it before then.

FolkSongSweet · 04/06/2021 19:42

Put the next2me crib up at 38 weeks both times, and the cot when baby was 6 months both times. Put it up when you like! I preferred to have the space.

Mummyof2Terrors · 04/06/2021 21:10

Next to me cot yesterday at 36+1, DS1 currently asleep in the cot (17 months).

8dpwoah · 04/06/2021 21:14

I think we put our next to me up about 38 weeks as I wanted to get used to having it in the way 😂 this time it will probably come down from the loft about the same time for a clean but be left to be set up when we get home now we know it's easy enough to do

idontlikealdi · 04/06/2021 21:20

Bit extreme but Dts were 31 seekers, we put it up the day before they came home 9 weeks later!

Zarene · 04/06/2021 21:28

The day DD was born. My Routine 38 week MW appointment turned into a C-section that evening, with a trip home to put up the cot and feed the cat in between!

Worked for me, but probably not to be recommended.

MySocalledLoaf · 04/06/2021 21:29

First baby about 36 weeks. Second baby never, since first baby never slept in it.

I think dismantling a cot is pretty low in the list of things I’d be upset about if my baby died.
FTEngineerM · 04/06/2021 21:33

Ours went up at about 28 weeks the first time, it’s still up now but DS1 has been in our bed for a few months so I’ll plonk it back next to our bed soon (26weeks now with DS2) it’s no bother having it there. Maybe a sheet wash when you get closer to the time if they’re a bit dusty?

FelicityPike · 04/06/2021 21:34

When DD was 6 months and ready to sleep in it.

Dyra · 04/06/2021 21:38

About 35 weeks. Wasn't used for anything other than storing baby stuff until 6 months.

GettingItOutThere · 04/06/2021 22:00

i think about 7 months, same time i was painting everything up a step stool.

xprincessxjanetx · 05/06/2021 00:03

First baby I put it up at 17 weeks! But in my defence I was bored and extremely excited lol

Last 4 times I think it's been about week 38

Helloitsmi · 05/06/2021 05:48

At 41w1 when i started to have tightenings.

Megan2018 · 05/06/2021 06:01

9 months, as we co-slept before then.
We did have a bedside crib from birth (never slept in though).
