Hey
I'm 28 weeks pregnant and wondering when to put up the cot.
How far along we're you when you put yours up?

@indigo27 We built our bedside crib (Snuzpod) when we brought DS home from the hospital. Took 5 minutes. I had washed the sheets etc and aired the mattress but we hadn’t built it.

Actual cot for his nursery was bought and built when he was about 6months old 😊

It gives me palpitations a bit when I read people say 36 weeks.. same with packing the hospital bag. I’m 30 weeks and my cot has been up for weeks. Even have the hospital bag half ready 😂

I’m 30 weeks atm and we’re planning to build it in the next couple of weeks

I've had a hospital bag packed for me since about 16 weeks after going to my 40 week midwife appointment and being told to go to hospital that same day last time (obvs was all packed for me and baby by then!), I'm leaving nothing to chance 😂 but I won't put anything together for baby til nearer the time, probably more like 32 weeks after my consultant appointment.

I can't think of anything worse than leaving it to the last minute and having to stress. Or even worse, trying to do it with a small baby! I would do it soon, there's no point or advantage to waiting. Just wait to put the sheet on until baby is here. It's also a lovely thing to do and makes it all feel more real and exciting.

When she was 3months old and not settling in the Moses basket. We knew we were moving house at any time and wanted to avoid doing it to after we moved if possible.

With DD2 we had to wait for a new bed for DD1 to arrive to evict her from the cot.

@sarah13xx with my youngest I only packed my bag after contractions started. he was born within 12 hours🤣

DS is five months & the cot arrives on Monday.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 05/06/2021 10:45

DS1: I think I was about 7m pg

indigo27 · 05/06/2021 11:53

Thanks everyone.
We've bought a from birth cot so he will be using that straight away.
I guess I'm excited to put it up but then also thinking we still have about 12 more weeks so maybe I should wait!
I have my baby shower when I'm 34 weeks so maybe I'll put it up that weekend ☺️☺️

37 weeks and still have our cot in the box. DP will put it up when baby arrives.

Chelyanne · 05/06/2021 11:58

If you don't put it up soon just make sure you check all the contents of the box to make sure nothing is missing.
I bought a travel cot for the living room early in the 2nd trimester as it was cheap, put it all up and packed it away again. Nothing worse than passing the returns period then realising there's something missing or damaged.

SemiFeralDalek · 05/06/2021 13:52

I think dismantling a cot is pretty low in the list of things I’d be upset about if my baby died.

Can confirm, It is one of the more heartbreaking things that you have to do. And mine wasn't even the proper cot, it was just the moses basket.

sarah13xx · 05/06/2021 15:23

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba haha no way.. maybe I’ll be like that if I have another but I’m about sitting in the hospital carpark with this one 😂

otterbaby · 05/06/2021 15:40

About 32 weeks I think. But she's 8 months old and refuses to sleep in it, so it's now a very expensive clothes/phone/water bottle holder 😂

iduno · 05/06/2021 16:09

We did it once the room had been decorated. Early 30 something weeks. I say we I done nothing, dh built it and I supervised some of it 😆
