Maternity Notes App

Is anyone else in an area using online/apps to store their maternity notes? My hospital is using the Badger Notes app but it seems like it never gets updated by the midwife. I can see one previous appointment (and have had 2 since the one listed) and there are just no details of the results of checks they did, there is clearly space for them to put in things like blood pressure and babies heartbeat but there's no info there. Is this the same for everyone or is my midwife just a bit crap with updating it?

Mine has nothing in either. I think here they just use it for the leaflets and things, rather than updating the notes - from what my midwife said when she set up my log in, I think I’ll still have paper notes for most things, although I’ve had nothing yet.

Lavender201 · 22/05/2021 10:32

Yep I have BadgerNotes. It’s a load of crap, they never put anything on it. I also never get letters for appointments anymore, just a text, which never actually states what the appointment is for. And of course the app doesn’t either. Bit fed up with it really.

HumunaHey · 22/05/2021 10:35

Just posted about this on another thread. It's a load of crap? Have you mentioned it to your midwife? I'm going to mention it at my next appointment.

EdithGrantham · 22/05/2021 10:43

I hadn't mentioned it yet but will at my next appointment, to be honest because everything's been ok I hadn't really felt a need to look at it too deeply but at my last appointment my usual midwife was on annual leave and the midwife who saw me was having trouble accessing her system to compare my bump measurements so asked if I knew what it was, went on the app and there's just nothing there!!

I’m so glad my trust don’t use the app. I have several friends who chose to deliver at a different hospital which is run by a different trust who do use the app.

They’ve had next to no info the whole way through their pregnancies. I love having my paper notes and having a read through what the midwife writes 😂

EdithGrantham · 22/05/2021 10:56

I have swapped hospitals to a new trust (original and new ones using different apps but both pretty crap) and actually think there's some info that hasn't been transferred over so have even less now than what I had previously! I'm fascinated to know what sort of stuff your midwife makes notes on @Moominmiss!

We used to use Maternity Notes which seemed better, but that got taken over by Badger Notes a few weeks ago and now it seems to show little...

I’m hoping for paper notes... thankfully I am still getting appointment letters, but they tend to come after the hospital calls to tell you anyway.

My hospital (Liverpool Womens) uses mypregnancynotes.com and nothing since my booking in appointment (at 10 weeks) has been updated, I’m 24 weeks today. I’ve had 2 scans, multiple blood and urine tests etc and nothing to show for it all. So frustrating! Mentioned it to multiple people at various appointments and just constantly been told ‘it takes a while to update’.

I'm a midwife who works in a trust that uses the Badger notes system (we've been using it for about three years), and am also pregnant so have my own version of the app for my notes. I think it's great.

The problem of it not being updated arises because the midwives/ doctors/ sonographers need to actually check a wee box that allows the individual appointment records to be published to the app. If that's not checked it won't update any of the information from the appointment so all that will be visible will be the basic booking info and just the date and time of the appointment.

Maybe speak to your midwife and ask her to make sure she's checking the box to publish the appointment information.

Thanks for this nugget of info! I'll mention it to my midwife. Hope she doesn't think I'm patronising her.

Mine is Badger Notes too, I will ask at my next midwife appointment for everything to be made available. I've been in for reduced movements today (all fine) and that is already showing up but not the results of any of the monitoring.

@Liverpool98 I’m at the Women’s too and have found that my midwife has updated it (my booking and 16week appointment) but nothing from my scans and blood tests/ screening. My midwife said that they can’t even see what we have access to. It’s shit.

Liverpool98 · 24/05/2021 06:52

Yeah my booking in appointment and my 16 week midwife appointment (which was done at my gp surgery) has info on it. But nothing from scans, blood tests etc. It’s ridiculous! It still says on mine presumed fetus 1 when I know it’s just one baby

LunaL0veg00d · 24/05/2021 07:14

Sorry if it's obvious to you, but are you checking the right part? If you go onto 'Antenatal Care Summary' and the table comes up with your appointments, you tap on the appointment and it opens a new page with more detail, all your blood test results etc..
I didn't realise for ages then tapped the table by fluke and saw this whole other page with all my results in.

20viona · 24/05/2021 07:17

Our hospital used k2 and it was pretty good.

EdithGrantham · 24/05/2021 09:17

Yes I clicked on that and it just says that the information has not been published. It's also missing stuff like my weight at my booking appointment which they definitely checked as I was pleasantly surprised it was my normal weight as I felt a lot heavier than usual!

Bizawit · 24/05/2021 09:28

Yeh it’s a bunch of crap. Nothing on there at all.

@TheBeastReleased thanks for the info. Where is this box they have to tick?

HumunaHey · 01/06/2021 13:40

@EdithGrantham Have you gotten anywhere with the app? I mentioned it at my last midwife appointment and she just said there's been a glitch for some with what information some people can see. I think it was BS tbh and asked her if she'd ticked the box to publish the information as a PP has said. She just glossed over it, with an airy "yes, I think it's to do with the glitch" Hmm.

I'm getting increasingly annoyed about not being able to see my own information.

wimbler · 01/06/2021 14:12

whenever I go to see my midwife their Ipad doesn't seem to be working or has crashed so I assume that's why the info never gets published. I have got blood results on there but never blood pressure which I think would be helpful to have. It's the first place I've learned of any future appointments though which I still haven't had confirmed by the midwife so I'm assuming I just show up!

Dahlia5 · 01/06/2021 16:32

My midwifes use badger notes and they usually publish blood tests results, ultrasound details etc. It's a hit and miss however, sometimes there are no notes left after my appointments, but normally they are pretty good.
I don't use the app though, just use the website link in the phone browser (chrome).

EdithGrantham · 01/06/2021 22:33

My next midwife appointment is next week so I will ask then, if she tries to brush it off as a glitch I will request a printed or emailed copy and show her how little info is on my app.

My hospital uses 2, I know one is badger. I used the maternity notes app last time around and found it great because I could update my birth plan at any point and they used that during labour. I liked reading my notes from labour on it afterwards.
There's been no mention of it this time round.

HumunaHey · 02/06/2021 09:52

Yeah, I definitely don't think it's a glitch. I'll be asking for print outs too if it's not sorted by my next appointment.

Tinkpod · 11/06/2021 09:48

I have the badger notes app, it's absolutely rubbish, I've asked at every appointment why my details or results are not updated on it, what is the point of it? It's just yet another pointless gimmick that doesn't work. out of all my appointments so far only two have been logged on it, one of the obstetricians said she thought it was a bit of a waste of time too.

Beakus1 · 17/06/2021 12:50

While frustrating to read these comments I am
Slightly comforted that I’m not the only one with similar experiences.
What really didn’t help with my blood tests was the fact 1 was labelled wrong so had to go back to give another sample for the rhesus & antibody test. It’s been updated today against the antibody test (albeit not much detail but looks ok…) but none of the ones that were supposedly ok to be used from last weeks test have been updated. So now I’m left wondering whether to wait longer or check? I don’t want to pester anyone but I don’t want to sit around wasting time if nothing else was in fact completed! Nightmare!
