Maternity Notes App

Is anyone else in an area using online/apps to store their maternity notes? My hospital is using the Badger Notes app but it seems like it never gets updated by the midwife. I can see one previous appointment (and have had 2 since the one listed) and there are just no details of the results of checks they did, there is clearly space for them to put in things like blood pressure and babies heartbeat but there's no info there. Is this the same for everyone or is my midwife just a bit crap with updating it?

Omg yes my hospital are using them and it is the most frustrating thing!!! This is my 3rd (eldest 13 youngest 3) and i had paper notes with both of my girls and I loved being able to read through them and read what was going on with my babies and pregnancies! This time round I feel so disconnected from it, and I feel like especially in this weird world we are in right now, for any mum but mostly first time mums going through their pregnancies in a time like this are already being robbed of a proper experience so the least they should have are access to their notes and results etc! So your not alone, I’ve had one updated midwife appointment on my app and one lot of blood results and that’s it. I don’t even know who to call and speak to about it as I’ve barely seen a midwife this time round. I hope they realise it’s not working as great as they thought it might and go back to paper notes 🙈xx

I've just been searching this topic as I have had a poor experience with the app and am gathering anecdotal data while I consider what we can do about it as it seems a universal problem with the link between the app and the health service, I expect someone is being paid a lot of money to keep rolling out this to more and more trusts despite it being diabolical for the majority of users (at both ends) so I would like to work on getting a review or some accountability in place. I wonder if @mumsnetHQ might be interested in picking up the issue?

@8dpwoah go check out their app reviews in the Apple App Store or the android store... shockingly bad, and yet no one seems to bother taking any notice!

I'm talking to my current trust about it this week hopefully and as the new Health secretary's constituency sits within the same trust (although he isn't my MP) I'm really hoping they are just going to blindly support or it go down the glitch route (or worse still, blame their staff, the amount of people I've seen already I'd be amazed if every single one of these educated professionals just wasn't doing using it right).

After seeing a different midwife to my ususl, I was able to access decent information adter the appointment. I also was sent for a growth scan but no information was available after this appointment. I feel like some of the oroblems are down to staff training issues and how competently they can use the app. I've been made aware that they have to tick a box to publish the notes. I assume some don't know to do this and some just don't bother even if they do know.

I have badger notes. I don't think the blood gets published. They added that they took them on mine but the results not published. Also baby's heartbeat and that section didn't get properly filled in until properly until the 7month mark and published.

See I've got all my blood, that's the one thing that's correct, then partial (or nothing) on almost everything else. I've had appointments that haven't been on the app or then logged afterwards. I've had five scans, two different hospitals, and there's something missing from all of them. Five midwife appointments, only two of them have everything we discussed and did covered...actually thinking about it the two midwife appointments that are complete were the same lady. Maybe she needs to deliver a masterclass to everyone else 😂

Tinkpod · 03/07/2021 09:32

I have only some appointments entered (I have to just use my diary with the appointment letters or I wouldn't have a clue) information is either partially or wholly missing, only a few test results have been entered, and to top it off the hospital internet and wifi/phone reception is so bad in carlisle hospital that you cannot retrieve any of it from the app in an appointment when you need to! The app is horrible to use in general even if it had all the relevant information on!
