@burtle4 so glad everything went well :D

burtle4 · 08/06/2021 10:43

@LAR96 I'm usually prone to anemia and low iron and I found that taking Spatone liquid iron was much nicer than taking the tablets (they give you constipation and turn your poo black ☹) You can find the liquid iron sachets in Boots and although you have to pay for them I found it a much nicer way to increase iron levels. I just used to add it to some mango juice to take the edge off the flavour x

LAR96 · 08/06/2021 10:46

@burtle4 Thank you I have heard of those.
I am going to give the tablets a go first and if its causing me more problems I will nip to boots!

Is this your first pregnancy? or have you had low iron before due to previous pregnancies?

burtle4 · 08/06/2021 10:55

@LAR96 I have a DS and a DD and I have suffered with low iron on and off before, during and after pregnancies. I haven't heard anything about the blood tests I had last week but hoping no news is good news! I've been taking my prenatal vitamins pretty religiously so hoping I can avoid it this time! Good luck with the tablets x

LAR96 · 08/06/2021 10:58

@burtle4 Yes hopefully you are all ok!

I have been taking folic acid and vitamin D religiously since I found out I was pregnant at 3 weeks!
I am 12 weeks today when would you recommend to stop the folic acid? or did you carry on taking them with your previous pregnancies?

burtle4 · 08/06/2021 11:10

I think I stopped but can't remember (last pregnancy was 7 years ago!) I'll probably continue to take my prenatals for a while just because I'm a bit older and feel like my body needs as much help as it can get but if I remember rightly the folic acid is most important while the baby is developing it's spine etc and can be stopped after 12 weeks. Is this your first pregnancy?x

LAR96 · 08/06/2021 11:15

@burtle4 yes my first pregnancy, I am 25 and my partner already has a 3 year old son with his previous partner so he knows a lot more then me!
I may carry on taking it all until I see my midwife again at the start of July and ask her then x

burtle4 · 08/06/2021 11:26

Ahh, how lovely, good luck with it all! Despite the worries and symptoms etc pregnancy is such an amazing thing to be able to go through, I'm so grateful that I've been given one more opportunity to experience it ♥️

LAR96 · 08/06/2021 11:30

I am so grateful too! Its such an exciting time!

Wishing you all the best :) x

jade0881 · 08/06/2021 12:36

@LAR96 and @burtle4
Haven't you ladies got vitamins from your midwife? My midwife gave me 3 bottles of it. It's contains vitamin d,folic acid and something else: I'll send a pic. X

@jade0881 Nope nothing was told to buy folic acid and vitamin D!

tuxedocat · 08/06/2021 14:37

Hi all! I’m due around 23rd Dec, but I won’t get my dating scan until I’m 13+5! I’ve had two private scans, 7wks + 10wks. As I’m being seen so late I’m tempted to have a private NIPT test as with my son I had my dating at 12+2.

jade0881 · 08/06/2021 14:43

@LAR96
I've just attached the photo and to anyone else that's wants to see them. When I went to my midwife appointment the first thing she said is do you want vitamins. So I said yes please. She told me to take them after 12 weeks(first trimester)

Any due late December

I've not been offered those vitamins either but I do get prescribed the higher dose of folic acid.
My sickness has increased this week!!! I thought I had veen lucky and missed all that up until this week. I'm 12 weeks this week, was just sat in the garden looking at my roses and I'm pretty sure I just felt like a movement in the left side of my belly. Has anyone else felt anything so early on??

tuxedocat · 08/06/2021 14:58

@jade0881 mine is 22nd so a few days before. It seems so far away! Same here, I didn’t get booked until I was 10+5 which felt so late.

I didn’t get any vitamins but I feel like my iron is low as I’m so tired, and I’m quite dizzy. My blood pressure was super low but they haven’t called so I assume all is ok!

I keep getting up multiple times a night to wee, I don’t remember this starting until I was about 20+ weeks last time!!

Yes I'm sure I've felt movement too or flutters. I'm 11 weeks today. I thought it was my imagination

@jade0881 maybe they will offer them me at my 16 week appointment.
@tuxedocat @Curlymam88 I am due 21st December, 12 weeks today get my scan Friday so will be 12+3. Don't think I could wait till I'm 13+5 for 12 week scan!

I'm so impatient, cannot wait to tell everyone once I've been given the all clear Friday!
