Also re Aniball, i'm with @BertieBotts on this. No can do! Can't think of anything worse!

Daffodil21 · 26/05/2021 15:33

@Ava50x yes I'm the same. I tend to just feel briefly in the morning and briefly in the evening. Sometimes in between if I'm really lucky

@Caz1226 you'll be near me. I'll be delivering at Bolton, part of me is tempted by Ingleside but I won't be allowed. That said Bolton have been pretty good with previous deliveries so I don't mind at all x

Mumoftwo2021 · 26/05/2021 19:27

@Caz1226 @alittlexmasmagic
I’m Manchester too! Il be having my baby at St Mary’s, had my other two there I cannot fault the place xx

Caz1226 · 26/05/2021 19:41

@alittlexmasmagic@Mumoftwo2021 I live in ramsbottom so I’m delivering at Burnley just because my best friend is a midwife there (due 5 weeks before me) and I know a couple of consultants there who have said it’s very good
It was either Burnley or Bolton as they are the closest for me as bury no long have a maternity unit and they are both pretty much the same distance from me
Xx

alittlexmasmagic · 26/05/2021 19:56

@Caz1226 I grew up there 😄
@Mumoftwo2021 I was at the FMU at St Mary's, I had really good care there too x

Caz1226 · 26/05/2021 20:21

@alittlexmasmagic what a small world! Xx

Mumoftwo2021 · 26/05/2021 20:34

@Caz1226 @alittlexmasmagic
It’s lovely ramsbottom I am nearer to the trafford centre, my local hospital would be Salford royal which is midwife led unit or Warrington hospital but I prefer to go somewhere I am familiar with.
Hoping for a water birth like my first, with my second he came 2 weeks early.
When are you both due? my due date is 4th August xx

Caz1226 · 26/05/2021 20:48

@Mumoftwo2021 I’m due 17th august!
I do love it here I’m from Hull originally but lived in Manchester for about 8 years and lived in ramsbottom for 4 years I don’t think I could move away anywhere else now I’m a big fan xx

Mumoftwo2021 · 26/05/2021 20:52

So just a few weeks behind me then @Caz1226!
I do like it, I quite like being near to everything but also near to the countryside (dunham Massey for example) too, best of both worlds.
Is this your first? Xx

Caz1226 · 26/05/2021 20:55

@Mumoftwo2021 yes first for me!
I’m getting very excited but also nervous as the weeks seem to be flying by- especially when I think I’ve only got around 9 weeks left at work xx

Mumoftwo2021 · 26/05/2021 21:11

@Caz1226 aww how exciting! Do you know what you are having?
I’m very lucky this time around as I’m a stay at home mum now, my first I had a year maternity, and my second worked til 3days before I had him and went back to work when he was 7 months so feel I missed out on more time.
I bet working is helping the time go quicker, it will be nice for u to rest up before baby arrives too.
Xx

Caz1226 · 27/05/2021 08:48

@Mumoftwo2021 yes I’m having a little boy- called Dougie! So super excited!
I’m working from home (have been for around 12 months now) so it’s not too bad no travelling into Manchester or anything like before which is useful!
I just need to stop ordering bits on Amazon now haha

wimbler · 27/05/2021 12:34

lots of you based in the North! any southerners on here?!
Had my first vaccine yesterday - got a very sore arm but no other side effects. the vaccination centre were delighted I was getting it done which felt nice after all the back and forth i'd done on it. sadly I don't think I'll get my second dose in before baby arrives. The doctor said it might be best to wait rather than have it close to due date as some people react a bit more to the second dose.

also had a telephone appointment with the consultant about my VBAC options. felt a bit deflated afterwards as if I decide to go that route it's definitely not the hands off birth experience I would want. They've said i'd have to have a cannula in as soon as I arrive and continuous monitors so no use of the pool at all. Bit gutted tbh. She's referred me to the birth reflections midwife though so will be able to talk through monitoring options with her as the consultant didn't seem to know what was actually available on labour ward.
Anyone had or going for a VBAC this time around?

MrsB2019x · 27/05/2021 12:42

@wimbler I’m a southerner! Hampshire coast ☺️ Where abouts are you?

I had my measurements done yesterday and little lady is measuring a bit large so being referred for a growth scan. GTT came back negative though so that’s a relief!

Hope everyone is doing well ☺️ Feel like I haven’t posted on here for ages!

Daffodil21 · 27/05/2021 12:55

@wimbler I used to be a southerner but now almost as far north as you can get 😂 not quiet, but about an hour from Inverness.

I also had my growth scan and his measurements seemed fine individually then when they put it in my growth chart he came out as below average (but still within healthy range). Sonographer didn't seem worried at all but the stand in consultant (mine is away for at least a month) said I need to come back in 2 weeks for another growth scan instead of 4 weeks. He also wants to do another check on amniotic fluid, even though it measured fine? And also wanted to check the blood flow to and from the placenta? He has measured ahead all this time so I hope it's just my measurements which make him look below average (I'm tall). My husband and I looked at average babies weights and measurements afterwards and he seems to match up fine to those.

He's also breech atm - thanks to those who posted theirs are also breech because I would have panicked when she said that if I hadn't read that some of yours are too! I've been feeling him less since he's moved position and the anterior placenta definitely isn't helping, so having to just watch my belly sometimes to see if it moves. Thankfully it is so he is moving I'm just not feeling it 🙄

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm finding the weeks are starting to fly by now!!

Hi ladies
Can I ask whether you’ve all had a conversation with your midwives about birth plans? I remember at my first booking appt she said “we’ll just put you down for birthing centre for now” but there isn’t been any discussion since. Does that all come later or should I ask?

LottSE20 · 27/05/2021 12:57

Ps I’m south, in Surrey

lucyrp · 27/05/2021 12:59

@LottSE20 I think birth plan is at 36 weeks at my hospital

wimbler · 27/05/2021 13:13

@LottSE20 I'm Surrey too!

I think birth plan discussions are either at 34 or 36 week appointments usually. My follow up is at 36 weeks where I've been told I basically need to have decided on VBAC or repeat ELCS. Got a scan booked for then as well to help me make my decision. I strongly suspect this baby is breech like my first as movements feel the same and there is a very hard lump which feels like the head up by my right ribs. Decision will obviously be taken out of my hands at that point as i've already been told I won't be able to have the ECV.

Ava50x · 27/05/2021 13:16

I'm in London!
Birth plans should be discussed at 34 weeks I think- that has been my experience in the past.

biscuitcat · 27/05/2021 13:44

Another southerner here - probably not far from any of you, I'm in East Hampshire and close to the Surrey border!

I'm hoping birth plans are 36 weeks here, DH is planning on flying to see his family and will be isolating at my 34 week appointment 🙄 I keep veering between wanting to try and do it as naturally as possible to thinking there's no medal for turning down pain relief and wanting an epidural, really have no idea! But like @wimbler I think baby is breech (they were at 28 weeks and nothing feels very different to then), which might make things easier in a way as there's less choice

Ava50x · 27/05/2021 14:01

@biscuitcat you can't know about pain relief until you're in it.I honestly never thought i'd be able to do it without epidural- before my first I kept saying, nobody gets a medal for doing without, etc etc. But somehow I did it- was in the pool, and kept saying as soon as I feel I need it, I'll ask for the epi. And somehow did it totally without!
For second and third, I repeated the water birth business. But I still maintain that if I need an epidural, i'll ask for it! So I guess i'm lucky I managed without, wait and see what you'll need but there's certainly no shame in asking, and no medals for doing without!

Ready2020 · 27/05/2021 14:20

I was hoping for more info on a birthing plan too but I guess it's still early. Hopefully at my next appointment which will be 34 weeks.

I'm hoping for a water birth too. My sister had 2 and said if you really want one is best to say early as they get booked up.

Packing at 30 weeks pregnant sucks BTW 😂

Inmypjsagain · 27/05/2021 14:47

I’m in London too- at Queen Charlotte’s hospital!

I think my midwife said birth plan is 36 weeks which makes me twitchy because I want a c section and know I’ll need to jump through some hoops first!

@wimbler that’s a shame, I remember you saying before you wanted a hands off birth. Hopefully the midwife will let you know if there’s some in between?

@Daffodil21 that all seems odd, did you get a percentile measurement? I guess it’s good they’re
Monitoring you but it does make you wonder when Everything looks fine!

I think I’m in the minority where I’d like to be given all the drugs possibly available 😂 I think I know my own pain threshold though, I wouldnt last a minute without some form of painkiller.

I bit the bullet and downloaded peanut yesterday.
Am now too scared to use it!!!! And baby has been obscenely active today, it’s been uncomfortable! Is it something I ate?!
