PAt

BroccoliSpears · 13/11/2007 19:27

Pattie?

LadyOfWaffle · 13/11/2007 19:28

I was going to say Patty

Heated · 13/11/2007 19:29

I don't think you should since Pat isn't pretty imo but instead come up with another affectionate nn, unrelated to Patience.

Agree with heated

Shay-ny

Patsy. and when she's bigger, if she isn't girly she can be pat. why should a name be pretty?

love the name Patience btw. let's hope she lives up to it.

SenoraPostrophe · 13/11/2007 19:49

or, pashe. that's probably what it'll end up as anyway.

Astrophe · 13/11/2007 19:51

Shen?

MerryAnnSinglemas · 13/11/2007 19:53

I know a very lovely peraon called Patience - and she is too.
Never shorten it though we sometimes pronounce it Pay-shonz in a French accent for some reason

tyaca · 13/11/2007 20:12

PMSOL @ Senora's "she can be pat. why should a name be pretty?"

Pashe makes me think of people snogging WITH TONGUES in public. which in turn makes me think of bringing back capital punishment...

mmm.... shenty's ok...

MerryAnn - that's good to know. not the necc the french bit but the not being abbreviated bit.

Tia?
I love Patsy myself

SoupDragon · 13/11/2007 20:15

I don't think there is a good short version TBH. You'd be better off thinking of a pet name.

SoupDragon · 13/11/2007 20:16

BabyDragon often gets called Roo. Which bears no resemblance to her real name whatsoever but came about as an extension of my preferred shortening of her name... Heaven knows what she'll call herself.

mamazon · 13/11/2007 20:17

little girl at school called Patience and she is known as Pattie/y

she is adorable and i really love the name pattie. so very delicate and girly but at the same timei can imagine it working for an adult.

Botbot · 13/11/2007 20:20

Patty. As in Peppermint Patty. Quite cute really.

Patience is a lovely name - it was on our list for dd. I love all those old 'virtue' names - Constance, Verity, Hope etc.

DD eventually got named after a herb though!

snowleopard · 13/11/2007 20:20

You could spell it Patti, with overtones of Patti Smith which would add a bit of cool.

MeAndMyMonkey · 13/11/2007 20:20

I think Pattie and Patsy are both kind of sweet - Pattie reminds me of Peppermint Pattie in Peanuts, cute!

belgo · 13/11/2007 20:21

Patsy is pretty. And so is Patience. But what if she's not a patient child? My dd1 has no patience at all. I'm forever telling her to be patient.

SoupDragon · 13/11/2007 20:21

Um, patty reminds me of 1) Krabbie Patties from Spongebob and 2) the ingredients in a BigMac!

i;m not keen on calling children 'virtues' for names....what if she isn't patient? what if she is a cross little madam?!

can't think of a shortened version except Pay

DS2 gets called Pops all the time. nothing like his name

MerlinsBeard · 13/11/2007 20:23

patty makes me think of patti and selma from he simpsons
