@AlRRRR yes it's amazing the difference, I have a lot of family in the UK and was always shocked at how soon they could go home🤣 just hospitals here, some have home births but it's not common where I live and there is only one maternity hospital in my county so it's very different to UK as you don't have a choice of hospitals , well in bigger counties like Dublin you do but not where I am but luckily the hospital
I go to is great so feel safe and happy going in there and have friends working there as well

PinkPlantCase · 05/05/2021 15:29

@TerryRose I bought a bundle of new born clothes from eBay so that’s we’ve got some that are a bit smaller if they’re needed Smile and if they aren’t then atleast they didn’t cost much!

I’ve heard that the sizes vary a lot between each brand, I’ve not got a mix of newborn and 0-3 and have pretty much ignored the labels and just have them in size order compared to each other.

Sitchervice · 06/05/2021 11:39

Does anyone else's baby make them feel just that little bit sea sick when they slowly move across the belly. 😂

Like that swooping sensation when on a roller coaster

TerryRose · 06/05/2021 14:30

@PinkPlantCase super thank you that's a good idea 😊I'll go have a look .

@Sitchervice yes🤣🤣🤣 it will be so strange when baby is out and not feeling the kicks anymore but can't wait to say goodbye to the heart burn🤣

Humpty11 · 07/05/2021 21:55

Hey everyone 👋🏼
I’ve started on the exercise ball today because I thought I needed to do something that is advised! My question is does anyone else get really bad cramping when they do it? I was only moving my hips in circular motions for about 10 mins each time and then had lots of lower cramps afterwards. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong or if it’s just babies position. I only used it once when I was pregnant with my son to relieve some back pain so can’t remember what it felt like.

BlondePotter · 07/05/2021 23:09

I've been on mine a couple of times and after around 10 mins I sort of felt the same, but felt like it was baby moving position and getting comfy? But definitely lower down than usual so maybe it's helping to get it in a good position

I just use the birth ball as a chair if I can’t get comfy sitting anywhere else. Bobbing up and down helps my hips if they’re sore.

No reaction from baby really but I haven’t tried any adventurous exercises on it.

TerryRose · 08/05/2021 13:36

@Humpty11 I've only been using mine a week or so , not sure if I have it inflated too much or not enough 🙈 I don't get cramps but it does start to hurt and feel swollen down there after a while 🙈 I've been trying to do the figure of 8 exercises and clockwise and anti clockwise circles but my midwife also said just sitting on it while you eat your dinner help as well so not to stress so many just so a bit slower or do less movement on it if it's causing you cramps?

BabyBumpIncoming · 08/05/2021 13:50

I've been using mine as a chair while working as it helps with my posture, I haven't had any pain or anything with it though and have just been doing wee bounces and circular motions on it

Waitingforbabypage · 08/05/2021 14:11

Having never gone in to labour on my own, I haven't a clue what to expect-
I've been having tightenings every few mins for a min or so for about 40 mins. Really uncomfortable, hard bump, pressure downwards and mild pain in my back. Making me feel quite sick. Am I good to keep on trying to ignore them or should I be thinking about getting checked out?

Fishingforhappiness · 08/05/2021 14:22

@Waitingforbabypage I would call your local unit as I'm presuming this is preterm if you are indeed in labour. I hope everything is okay. If they are happy for you to stay home I would have a bath or try tens.

I'm 35+5. I'll take a paracetamol and have a bath and if they keep on I'll ring. They're not painful, just really uncomfortable- almost taking my breath away.

pookypup · 08/05/2021 15:07

@Waitingforbabypage I think if they are regular you should err on the side of caution.

I’m the same 35+5 and do get tightening if I’m out walking which do make me need to stop until they pass - but nothing on a regular pattern.

Keep us updated if you can, will be thinking of you.

pookypup · 08/05/2021 15:08

OMG as I was typing that my baby moved and my bump clicked/popped. Weird. That’s not happened to me before. Confused

Humpty11 · 08/05/2021 21:41

Thanks for the replies about the ball and cramps, maybe I just overdid it a bit with the movements that my body isn’t used to, I think she’s really low down as well because I’ve been having some delightful shooting pains today 🥴.

@Waitingforbabypage I hope your tightenings settled down!

PinkPlantCase · 08/05/2021 22:05

My thoughts have been with you @Waitingforbabypage hope things have calmed down

Waitingforbabypage · 09/05/2021 09:21

I called the midwife, she said because they're not so painful I can't talk through them, just stay home and keep an eye on them. They're likely just braxton hicks.
I had a very long warm bath which did help, they stopped being so frequent after.
But I did lose a chunk of my mucous plug- gross.
I managed some sleep last night at least and I'll try to have a relaxing day. Baby just needs to stay put for a little longer!

AnxiousAnnie86 · 09/05/2021 09:34

@Waitingforbabypage i would call the antenatal day unit and see what they advise they may just get you in for a check up, check dilation? I was 37 weeks exactly when I had my daughter, contractions started at about 36 + 5 x

teaformummy · 09/05/2021 16:14

Hope everyones doing well?

Anyone here used MAM bottles before and recommend them? Im about to order a set of bottles (won't be breastfeeding this time) and i liked the idea that they are self sterilising.

Im 35 weeks today! I feel very behind compared to most if you lovely organised ladies - no bags packed yet! Blush

Sitchervice · 09/05/2021 16:27

@teaformummy my husbands mum who is a Nanny for newborns recommended them to us but we'd already brought Tommy's.

Nesski · 09/05/2021 17:09

@teaformummy I bought the MAM bottles purely for the microwave sterilisation function, and then for the anti-colic mechanism.

@Waitingforbabypage fingers crossed for you, I've been having consistent BHs and actual period pain, not sure if I'll make it to 40 weeks...

AnxiousAnnie86 · 09/05/2021 17:46

Hey, wondering if anyone can advise, baby has been so quiet today, odd movements here and there but nothing like normal, and the ones I've felt feel like they are just hitting my cervix! Like a sharp sudden shock! We have been out the entire day for a reallt long walk and lunch, just headed back now and she's still so quiet. Would you lay down and see if she picks up W bit? X

AlRRRR · 09/05/2021 18:02

@AnxiousAnnie86 I think it’s always best to ring triage and see what they say as every persons experience is different ;) Maybe lay on your back for 15 mins and put your hands on your belly and massage, if nothing, ring up xxx

AnxiousAnnie86 · 09/05/2021 18:04

@AlRRRR is that the same as the antenatal day unit? X

AlRRRR · 09/05/2021 18:07

Yes I think so! My midwife has always said any concerns ring and speak to someone, I ring my local triage midwifery assessment unit, the number is on my online notes :)
