Great news @crobo87!! And congrats @bluemagicalsky

My husband is booked in for his first vaccine on Friday and I'm so relieved! He should get two before the baby is here, it was becoming a big fear of mine that he would have COVID when I went into labour and I'd have to go by myself. I know not a guarantee but less of a worry now. Hope yours goes ok @Allicit

Allicit · 10/05/2021 21:04

@KHR1 ah it’s good to know someone else has too! I did a lot of research and feel like it’s the right decision but still nerve wracking! Glad to hear the dr was so positive about it, definitely reassuring!

LittleAurora · 10/05/2021 21:28

Has anyone got pain/pulled feeling in-between your shoulder blades? I feel like I've pulled a muscle but haven't been doing anything too strenuous

No, not in that specific area. My back has started to hurt in general, but I have curvature of the spine so it was bound to happen at some point. If it persists after a couple of days it might be worth mentioning to your gp.

SP2Bx · 11/05/2021 07:34

@LittleAurora I had this when I first switched to side sleeping a few weeks ago, random but painful! I got a pregnancy pillow and haven't had it since. Worth a shot if you're not using one already!

LittleAurora · 11/05/2021 07:59

@SP2Bx I have a pregancy pillow 😭
Hopefully it is just sleeping wrong. Thanks for your input ☺️

Kirky658 · 11/05/2021 08:51

@littleaurora @sp2bx just curious, how do you sleep with your pillow? I tend to either push the top end under my head and the bottom between my knees either behind or in front of me. It's irritating though because I sleep on my left and when I get up to pee inevitably I wake DH up because I have to climb over the pillow 🤣

Bubbles1st · 11/05/2021 09:25

@Kirky658 is your pillow C shaped? I did this to start with, then just turned it round so the opening was the side to get out and the back is now a barrier between me abs DP

SP2Bx · 11/05/2021 10:12

@Kirky658 I have this dreamgenii pillow which doesn't come up so high so generally I just sleep with it between my legs, or even with my legs straight and twisted back onto the backrest a little... or sometimes, like @Bubbles1st I sleep in it back to front type of thing if I want to switch sides and cba to turn the pillow over in the night! It does make dp laugh when I hope into it getting into bed though haha!

Kirky658 · 11/05/2021 12:12

@bubbles1st yep it's a c shaped one. It's so comfy but a pain in the arse 😂

CherLW · 11/05/2021 13:33

@LittleAurora that pram is lovely, the design for that was on my list too!! I got a cosatto Wow 2 in the end. @Bubbles1st I hear really good things about the make... I got a bundle but not the car seat as I found one else ware with better specs but cosatto did the adaptors for the seat which was ideal!

deedeebythesea · 11/05/2021 21:16

@Allicit @KHR1 I have mine booked for 1pm this Saturday. I work at a museum and we are reopening to the public on 19th. There are already a lot more people on site but once the visitors are back ... I don’t know! It just felt right to get the vaccine now. Especially since I was told I was “clinical vulnerable” and invited for the jab all the way back in early Feb... (I have no idea why they think I am vulnerable, as I am 28 and don’t have ANY health related issues. Did any of you get that? Is it random or just because I am pregnant?)

D0nut · 11/05/2021 21:24

@deedeebythesea I’ve not been called up for a vaccine yet but I’m really keen to have it. I also work at a museum (or gallery)! I’ve been able to work from home but I’m sure when it opens up next week I’ll be expected to go in more and more.

SillyBry · 11/05/2021 21:45

@deedeebythesea some of my friends have had really random call ups for being vulnerable... one for having gestational diabetes (with her 1st of 5 children... and no issues since!!) and another for having glandular fever when she was 17!

I’m so undecided about the vaccine. I can work from home and isolate relatively well. But husband is a teacher and daughter is at nursery, so I can’t totally cut my risk. Such a hard decision!

LittleAurora · 11/05/2021 21:52

To me the risk of the vaccine is not worth it while pregnant. There is no way to know what effect it has on a developing fetus. I don't even want it while breastfeeding.
This is my personal opinion and I do not under any circumstances judge anyone elses choice to have the vaccine or not.

D0nut · 11/05/2021 22:06

I understand peoples reasons for not wanting the vaccine, it’s a difficult decision. For me, I’ve lost 2 people I know to covid this year and nearly lost a 3rd and I know a few young and previously very healthy people who are still ill months after with long covid. I don’t want to take that risk myself especially if I’m spending more time in hospital.

KHR1 · 11/05/2021 22:10

I wasnt due to get mine until at least June so hadn't been contacted, it was just pot luck that there was a spare. I've heard of a few people being randomly contacted early but not knowing why. I wanted the vaccine as I'm teaching, my husband can't work from home and my DD is in nursery. My BMI is high too so more at risk because of that but I can completely understand people not wanting it. I think the choice will be so different for everyone depending on their own circumstances.

Kirky658 · 12/05/2021 06:35

I'm still very much on the fence with the vaccine & am planning to ask my midwifes advice when I see her next week. I'm able to continue working from home till I finish for mat leave mid August. DH is a teacher but secondary and in a smaller school so risk is relatively low. I do have mild asthma but healthy other than that. I'm concerned about the side effects on the baby in later life rather than now as the ones it's been tested on in the US won't have had time to develop any potential side effects yet.

On the other hand I think if I don't have it yet, will I be able to go out soon without it? The risks of premature birth if you catch covid in the 3rd trimester?

It's not an easy decision at all.

Allicit · 12/05/2021 07:33

It is a hard decision. I think for me looking into the research and how mRNA vaccines work really helped. There is no conceivable way the vaccine even reaches the placenta, let along crosses it. And even if it did it’s basically a set of instructions. The pregnant then screwed video on Stella creasys Facebook page really helped me if anyone wants more information - it’s a q&a for pregnant women with doctors and immunologists etc.

@deedeebythesea I work for the nhs so was offered it as a frontline worker in jan but turned it down as they weren’t recommending it in pregnancy. I have pcos so developed gdm early and so am technically cev so got offered it again but it still wasn’t recommended but since the American safety data has come out and they’re now recommending it I’ve decided to go for it especially with everything unlocking for my third trimester and cases are already starting to rise in my area. My GP and midwife both feel it’s the right thing to do.

It’s definitely a big and very personal decision and I also respect anyone’s choice either way. For me the known risks of what could happen during third trimester outweigh the risk of the vaccine.

Noodles4Me · 12/05/2021 08:51

I'm still not getting the vaccine. I suppose, because I've had Covid I'm in a different position to many, I have antibodies now plus I'm sensible when out so no reason I'd be more at risk.

I just can't shake the feeling that there has not been enough babies born to vaccinated mums yet to observe possible outcomes. That might be my anxiety.

Seeing midwife on Friday when I'll be 25 weeks. Blood and urine tests I suppose. Hopefully all will be well Brew

RaeRae84 · 12/05/2021 09:25

@Noodles4Me when did you have covid? I had it back in mid Jan so was going along the same lines as you that I've already had it. Was going to go for it after September

RaeRae84 · 12/05/2021 09:26

@leftitlate37 which bump band did you go for? I can't decide between 3. I only ever have had pain in my lower stomach twice. I don't get pain in my hips or back so struggling to work out what to go for

GWhiteley · 12/05/2021 09:28

@Noodles4Me I'm the same as you, I've had covid & so should have some anti bodies. I'm also really careful when out of the house. I've had to start going into the office 2-3 times a week due to having serious back ache, but I work for the council & we have strict rules in place that people have to adhere to so I feel very safe.

Hope your midwife app goes well, mine is the week after. She's only taken blood once so far so it may be urine & bloods for me too!

bewitchingnight · 12/05/2021 09:49

I've been trying to read up about it as well, I think I'm going to have it. I have a high bmi so even though I'm now working from home I think for me the 3rd trimester risk is greater. I doubt I'll be offered it before my next midwife appointment though so I'll see what she says as well.
