@Maybebaby29 i can completely understand your fears, there's enough to worry about at this time without something else adding to it. In your situation I would read up as much as you can about it, see if you can find other people's experiences, both good and bad, to be aware of all possible outcomes (if you want to, I prefer to know as much as possible to get my head round things, I find it's more the unknown that unsettles me). It is good that they know about it now, and will be prepared incase you do start to bleed, they're not going to let you bleed to death, I'm sure they'll be at the ready with a transfusion because they won't want to take any risks. The hysterectomy is a huge thing to have to consider might happen but atm that isn't set, it's an extreme solution if there are too many problems but it is another option for them if they need it. Hopefully it won't be that extreme for you and they'll be able to work around it. Prepare for all possibilities but try and keep thinking of the positives, we're all here for you if you need open ears xx

@Kirky658 congrats on the girl! Any name ideas yet? X

Kirky658 · 29/04/2021 09:51

@scotti84 thank you ❤️ I'm actually relieved as we had more girls names than boys hehe xx

leftitlate37 · 29/04/2021 11:26

yaY! congrats @Kirky658!glad all went well and ace news on the girl front! we r sooooo struggling with boys names....same as u got lots of girl ones! argh! Hows your running going? argh the pain on my bladder now, its so uncomfortable :( had to run walk the other night, and did 4 miles this morn but just was unpleasant :(
sorry to hear @Maybebaby29 - hope you get some more positiv news.
Good luck for everyone with scans this week :)
hubby bought me a new pillow which came yesterday and cant wait to try tonight, its blooming huge tho haha, think he might have to go in the spare room!!!
having a proper body loathing phase this week, and know i need to stop being so selfish and be grateful that so far, its doing its job and growing a healthy baby. just feel lardy and bloated, and hating all my underwear feeling so tight. giong pram shopping at weekend and sussing out some slings etc, so might take the chance to treat myself to some new better fitting underwear!

Kirky658 · 29/04/2021 11:49

@leftitlate37 thanks hun we are over the moon! Haven't seen DH this happy since our wedding day! Running has taken a turn for the worst haha, I've dropped down to 11:30 minute miles now as I'm trying to keep my heart rate down as much as I can so as to not overexert myself otherwise I'm shattered. Funnily enough I did 4 miles this morning too, great minds lol x

leftitlate37 · 29/04/2021 12:07

aaah thats so nice! :) super chuffed for you guys! ha i laughed at one of your previous comments about people at NCT classes being super old ;) watch what u say.... :p i worry that we will be the old farts haha!
good effort on your 4 miles! im not sure even slow helps me, i just end up having to walk cos the bladder pain only stops when i walk! maybe baby will kindly move away from resting on it! least we r getting out exercising, better than nowt :) ive taken up swimming and although am hopeless im actually really enjoying it as dont have any aches and pains when in the pool!

Sceptre86 · 29/04/2021 12:31

@maybebaby29 I am in a similar position to you. My placenta is low down and I am getting rescanned at 28 weeks. The lady at the scan didn't tell me how low but the consultant I saw afterwards said if it is covering the cervix and doesn't move the birth will be tricky. I asked what tricky meant and she said , bed rest if it is attached to the lesions from my previous sections, a definite csection, risk of haemorrhage, blood transfusions will be on standby and the section itself will be done by a consultant and they will possibly move me to a more specialised hospital in Edinburgh.

I am praying it will move up and I hope yours will too, in many cases they do as the uterus expands but as we have both had previous sections the chances are lower. From what I asked there isn't anything we can actually do to help it move up but that being said I am being as active as possible and loads of praying/wishing. My dh is trying to stay calm about it all and refuses to worry until we have further scans. I am doing my best to stay positive but I am scared, I am ok with the thought of a hysterectomy as this will be my 3rd but the thought of haemorhhaging is leaving me panicked. I'm also really hoping it will move enough so that I can attempt a natural delivery as the consultant I have this time is all for it. My girl pregnancies are never straightforward!

🤞for us both.

SillyBry · 29/04/2021 12:52

@Bubbles1st Can I be added? I'm due on the 7th, surprise gender!

@leftitlate37 @Kirky658 Did I see you guys are runners? I'm still plodding along too! I've totally lost all enthusiasm for running for more than an hour though!! My long run at the weekend has really dropped down to 10km if I'm lucky!
My pace has slowed to 10/10.30 min/miles, but oddly I'm ok with it.... my first pregnancy I felt like I was such a rubbish runner etc, whereas this time, I'm like "heck, if I need to walk, I'll walk!!" I'm finding it harder work on my bladder and pelvic floor now... downhills definitely require a lot more effort than they used to! And each day is so different... on Monday, I struggled round 3 miles... today, I trotted round 5 miles feeling relatively ok! I just take each week as it comes!! :-)

Kirky658 · 29/04/2021 12:55

@sillybry hello fellow runner!!! Wow you're doing much better than me, I was at 1030mm until a couple of weeks ago then i just decided to drop the pace right down now to 1130mm. Want to try and enjoy the runs rather than forcing them! Same as you some days I can do really well others it's a struggle. Furthest for me atm is 5 miles so well done to you! X

SillyBry · 29/04/2021 13:07

@Kirky658 I definitely feel you - it's just about getting out for some fresh air and trying to enjoy it, rather than pushing any pace! I went to our running club a couple of weeks ago and did the interval session (at the back, slowly of course...!) but I still pushed myself to keep up and my hips hated me for about 4 days... so now, I'm just going with the flow... enjoying the days it feels ok and walking more on the days I'm tired.
I think 5 miles will soon be my limit - I was very ready to finish at 5 miles today!! (Going out with a friend has massively helped though as I chat and don't think about the actual pain of moving my butt along! ;-) )
I've ended up going off road more, mainly as there are more options to nip behind a bush for a pregnant wild wee... it's so very glam isn't it?!

leftitlate37 · 29/04/2021 13:24

Hey @SillyBry! Congrats! Due same day as u :)
And yes a runner! Haha this has been me for weeks....firmly off road running so I can use whatever tree, bush or wall is available for a wee!! Yeah finding the downhill not fun at all, that usually is the best bit! Its actually painful now tho! Gr8 u r still getting out and enjoying it...main thing! I havent done any intervals since they restarted with covid ...I've got one pace...that or walk! But like u say am being ok with walking bits now! Took dog out other day and let her bomb around whilst I ran and walked, and felt better with no pressure to keep talking to a mate etc! Did a 13 mile run/walk in hills sat and whilst felt ok, I think prob overdid it, my legs are wrecked so gonna be sensible now. So have u already got 1 kid? Have u found fitting running in round everything else doable?!

Squibble84 · 29/04/2021 21:44

Has anyone who bought the positive birth company hypnobirthing pack listened to any of it yet? Is it any good?

2021mumma · 29/04/2021 21:55

I am still waiting for 20 week scan (I’m 22 weeks) I am so anxious with the waiting I booked a private scan tonight - all is good I’m so glad I did this I can relax a bit and now wait for my nhs scan to come through hospital said 23/24 weeks 💙

SP2Bx · 29/04/2021 22:00

@Squibble84 I have :) I'm only a couple of sections in as I just watch a couple of videos at a time here and there. I really like it and have learnt lots. I do plan on doing a proper face to face course with my partner though... I bought the PCB course when it was on offer for £12 just to check it was definitely something I wanted to do and it certainly is!

2021mumma · 29/04/2021 22:00

@deedeebythesea my NCT class due to start mid June this is what I got in my email
Hope all is well with you. I'm writing to let you know that your antenatal course is moving online and won’t be held in-person, a decision supported by Royal College of Midwives (RCM).
"Antenatal courses can be incredibly helpful in preparing for childbirth and parenthood – and for meeting and sharing experiences with other parents-to-be. Online classes, like those offered by NCT, are the safest and most practical option currently and still offer those opportunities, even if the experience is different to getting together in-person.”

AdventuresAwait · 29/04/2021 22:03

@Squibble84, I bought it but not started it yet! Maybe this weekend 😊

@2021mumma, glad you had a scan and all was good! 🥳

SillyBry · 29/04/2021 22:15

@leftitlate37 aww, same due date is very exciting!

13 miles is massively impressive! Well done! I fully intended to keep running long at the weekend, but I feel like 7 miles is far enough now! 🤣
I also feel positively huge in Lycra already... but am glad that I feel like I definitely look pregnant now! But yes, downhill and pressure on the bladder have definitely become harder in the last week or two!! Wild wees are a must now!!! 🤣
I’ve got a 4 year old already. Once she was 6 months, we got a running buggy and enjoyed taking her out for my runs! I can highly recommend joining the “original buggy runners/active with kids” Facebook group for lots of like minded parents and good tips for getting out/being active with young kids!
My daughter is due to start school on the 7th September too, so err, could be a busy day for me!! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣
Other than buggy running, we found a good rhythm between us... once i went back to work, my office days became “my time”, so hubby would do nursery drop off and I would leave home early and exercise before work. Hubby would do his exercise after work! Then at the weekends, we would each have a morning where we would run, so we both have some “me time” as well as family time.

Hopefulmummie · 29/04/2021 22:35

Is anyone else experiencing pelvic girdle pain? I've noticed pain around my pelvis the last couple of weeks but this week it has got really bad due to walking more. I'm in agony with it and keeping me up at night.

Going to ring GP tomorrow but I think they just refer you for physio

RaeRae84 · 29/04/2021 22:46

Has anyone used a bump support band and can recommend one? I only want it for exercise. My PT suggested it tonight as I was discussing a few things that I had been feeling. Like everything baby related, there is so much choice 🤔

GWhiteley · 30/04/2021 08:11

@KH512 I had my 20wk scan a couple of weeks ago & I was in there for over an hr as they struggled to get all the measurements as well. I had to go to the loo & jiggle around to try & get her to move!
I think that's right, if they were worried you would have been made an emergency app asap, but I know you're still probably anxious. I hope your next scan goes according to plan & everything's fine

Kirky658 · 30/04/2021 08:12

@hopefulmummie I have had some on and off pelvic pains and last night had pains down the inner thighs. Seems worse after I've done a lot of exercise so hope it's not here to stay!

Kirky658 · 30/04/2021 08:13

Pressed send before I got to finish!! On my nct classes, I decided to give them a miss after being recommended a local class, run by midwifes over the course if a weekend for a fraction of the cost of nct at £115. It's been highly recommended so hopefully that will be helpful!

GWhiteley · 30/04/2021 08:14

@Hopefulmummie not my pelvis as such, but my left hip is definitely giving me some gyp. My midwife keeps going on about sleeping on my left, but if I sleep on it for too long it aches like anything & I struggle to get up steps & hills a lot now. Oh the joys 😩 I'm definitely going to speak to her about it at my next app

Bubbles1st · 30/04/2021 09:50

A lovely lady who used to live with has given me the lowdown on her cloth nappy experience so far with her baby, who is 2 months old, I'm so enthused and motivated and with all her advise it feels less overwhelming.

Anyone else done cloth before or going down that route with this baby?

OP posts:
Allicit · 30/04/2021 10:20

@Bubbles1st I’m doing cloth hopefully! I’ve just bought cheeky wipes (reusable baby wipes) as they are 25% off for really nappy week until Monday. Have you done the nappy lady survey? You fill it all in and she gives cloth nappy recommendations based on your needs/budget for free - such a great service! Also worth seeing if your council offer money towards. Mine doesn’t but apparently loads do. I also found a real nappy network for my area that do a nappy lending library so you can try them out as the nappy lady also offers this service so there are loads of great options. I am thinking about disposables with cheeky wipes for first couple of weeks as ftm and wondering if I should get into the swing of it first? Also I think they need extra small newborn ones at first from what I’ve read? xx

Allicit · 30/04/2021 10:22

@Kirky658 we did our nct online taster last night and my other half hated it so much we’re also giving nct a miss. I haven’t found another yet and a little nervous but we both really hated the online vibe so £175 was just too much of a stretch!
